There is no way that truck will do 150 in real life. Your calculations don't take into account rolling resistance, wind drag, and aerodynamics. You are of full of it, lil man.

192400 / 1253.28=153.52

Just my .02 I am not a engine expert but 7400rpm sounds a bit high for a small block V8 and also dont you have to take into consideration what gear the tranny is in?

dude 7400 on stock internals is pretty much impossible. you can get there, but i know you can't hold it there for very long. i hate to say it but sounds like you are blowing some smoke. I have worked with cars ever since i would hold a wrench and that s-dime is not nearly as quick as you might think. yeah it is light, but a stock 283 SBC won't push a brick to 150. and a TH350(guess thats what tranny you got) has not TC lockup option so at full throttle you will get alot of converter slip.

coming from a Mechanical Engineering student...

You may have calculated a theoretical speed of 150 mph, but there are MANY other factors at hand. Aerodynamics, trans slippage, and tire expansion, which would help your cause, but they better be z-rated!

A stock Hyabusa can theoreticaly reach a top speed of close to 300mph, but due to the real world and air it's much slower than that. The faster you go the more and more friction the air around you produces against your machine. It is highly unlikey that this model S-10 achieved more than 120 mph, much less 150.

Now have yall seen that 18-wheeler w/ the three F-18 jet engines strapped to it? It runs close to 300mph. It takes thousands of lbs of thrust and horsepower, a lil more than a practical internal combustion engine can do....

well 150 does soudn unrealistic...

s-10's with any v8 in em are quick. I've never riden one with a built motor, there was a stock 302 and 350 that a friend of mine pulled from 70's chevelle and monte carlo that was fast as hell.

Threw some 4.10's in the rear and it would get to 70'sreal qucik, but would go much higher than 100.

like i said if it is that important to you then come on down and my dad will show you.you can overcome wind resistance with power.its not like this thing was just thrown together. dam this wasn't supposed to be a flame board i just wanted to show of my truck. it doen't have stock internals.i am not sure what is in it internal wise because we haven't rebiult it since we bought the block. the reason why we calculated it oput is because we havent hooked up the speedo to the TH350. sbc's like to rev they are not like thse boat anchors(big blocks) that make all their power down low.

and tat900 no one said that you dont know what you are talking about. me and my dad are putting on coil over shocks. and i corrected myself we are putting in a sb 400 bored .30 over, eagle steel crank,we have not ordered the pistons yet, vortec ported and polished heads, holley carb, victor jr. intake, high flow radiator, and it has custom exhaust with straight through mufflers, heddman headers, and i would say 26 inch tall slicks(not sure though).

Unless I am missing something you still have not explained where you calculated in your gearing in the transmission. the numbers you give could have been in 1st gear for all we know.
