2009 NEATV Series-Round #4- MX338 Southwick- Race Coverage

Round 4!!! Good lord these things tend to just scoot along! We were back this round at the world famouse MX338 facility, affectionally known as Southwick. This was my first time to this track and I was warned ahead of time that it gets brutal!

I hadn't walked 10 feet from the car and 2 or 3 people quickly told me that the sandy soil whoops out and makes for some seriously rough MX action. They also filled me in that there wasn't any spectaular air to be had either which let a little wind out of my sails but hey, you can't have it all

For those who haven't ever been here either, if you do go, bring some walkin shoes! The track is located a small downhill walk from the pit area and you will be taking the shoe leather express as pit bikes are a no-no.

The Amatuer action was well underway on sunday morning as this was a 1 day event with no open practice on saturday like many other rounds.

One of the first shots I took was of a rider hung up in a corner on a sand filled rut. I was kind of excited to be at a new to me track, but knew that the day would be long for many riders who would have to deal with the brutal conditions!

I would have to say that atleast in moto 1, Alger had eaten a healthy dose of Wheaties as he ran out front and virtually unchallenged to claim the moto win.

Luke Marois #44 and Ryan Coleman #42 would battle for the runner up spot and Marios would take the second spot when the moto ended.

Alger would cruise in to take the checkered flag and made it all look to easy. Justin was amess at the last round as he battled a stomach virus so it had to make him feel pretty good to come out swinging here at the Wick!

Youth racing is pretty robust in the NEATV series, which I am grateful for! Keeping our young riders on the gate will garuntee us future competitors as they grow with the sport.

The mini riders would have thier work cut out for them here as well, as the very limited ground clearence and tire swallowing ruts would have to be dealt with

Justin may have been down with the sickness at the last round, but it would be yours truly who was under the weather at this round. I had been battling stomach cramps and dehydration all week and wasn't feeling very sporty

Paige Whipple sure seemed to be feeling great as she ripped out the holeshot in Open C Novice!

Paige would also suffer a dislocated shoulder in a wreck that occurred. We wish her a speedy recovery!

Paige would eventually put some breathing room between herself and Turner and claim the moto 1 win!
