2005 GNCC "Yadkin Valley Stomp" Round #10 Morning ATV Racing Coverage

Yadkinville, NC - After a two month break, the GNCC Series resumed to complete the final four races of the thirteen race series with the season finale at the "Ironman" on October 22-23rd.

The morning racing action was intense with Walker Fowler claiming yet another overall win aboard his Hetrick Kasea, and by the dust cloud that formed in the woods during the Youth Race, it obvious that the Morning and Afternoon races were both going to be extremely dusty.

The dusty conditions didn't keep this young spectator from watching the racing action with her stuffed lamb at her side.

As already mentioned inLive Coverage both Mike Penland and Scott Kilby teamed up with Bombardier during the Summer Break after Bombardier contacted Mike Penland to see if he would be interested in riding their newly released Outlander 800.

After Mike Penland had the opportunity to ride one of these new machines and with out a sponsorship program with Kawasaki for 2005 after they cut back their program, he made the switch to Bombardier after notifying Kawasaki of his situation and opportunity.

Mike penland wanted everyone to know that he is still actively involved in producing performance products for the Kawasaki machines even though he has made the switch to Bombardier, which ofcourse, he is in the process of developing new products for the Outlander 800.

ATV Rider Journalist, Thad Josey, received the inside scoop on the Bombardier's newly formed team, which will be released in the next issue of ATV Rider.

After racing #3 Chris Borich's Honda 450R at the Wisp, he headed to the line this Round on Mike Penland's practice Bombardier Outlander to get a first hand racing perspective on this new machine.

Mike Penland wasn't the only rider to make an ATV switch midseason. #203 Ken Robey made the switch to the Kawasaki Prairie at Round #7 after having numerous issues with his Suzuki. The change was a smart move for Robey because he hasn't finished worst than second place since and has quickly jumped into the points race for the Championship with Mike Penland and Michael Swift.

Kevin Johnston isn't alone in drawing attention to Breast Cancer awareness as Ron Moore also displayed the Maier Pink Fender displaying "Racing 4 a Cure."

It was great to see these guys make a stand for a cause they believe in and doing it by running pink plastic, which probably wouldn't be their first choice otherwise.

#330 Thomas Wright only needed to finish in the top 20 this weekend in the 35+ C Class to wrap up the Championship, even if John Saxon took the Class win. Unfortunately, he didn't need to worry about anything but finishing because Saxon wasn't in attendance due to the damage his house in Lucedale, MS received from Hurricane Katrina.

I am making an attempt to contact John Saxon because I am hoping that ATVriders.com members will join together and help get him back on his feet as soon as possible, so I will keep everyone posted as more details become available.

The Top Three Stock class riders(Jarrod McClure, Chris Neal, and Billy Good) were on the starting line catching up on what each of them were doing over the summer. Although they may be fierce competitors on the track, the majority of the stock class riders are friends, which makes racing in the class so much more fun.

#31 Dave Simmons wrapped up the Senior Class Championship with 9 consecutive wins and remained the only undefeated rider in the GNCC Series this season, so he decided to see what he could do in the Stock Class aboard a brand new and redesigned 2006 YFZ450.

Sure Dave is a Senior rider and over 40 years old, but he is still a force to be reckon with in any class as he proved last year when he finshed 2nd in the Pro Am Class and 12th Overall at the Ironman to finish out his season.
