05 FMF Extreme Dirt Track Round 5 - Paducah Int. Speedway LIVE Race Coverage

Paducah, KY – Round #5 of the Extreme Dirt Track Series headed west to the Paducah International Speedway and the riders were greeted with temps in the 90’s with high humidity, but atleast it has remained dry. A total of 352 riders signed up for this weekend’s event.

Unfortunately and disappointingly, this years event has been extremely disorganized and the track owner is even forcing the press to pay the $30 gate fee just to cover the event, and even had a journalist for another publication escorted off the property when he argued his point that the media shouldn’t be forced to pay an entrance fee, and I personally agree him 100%.

I even considered not posting the Live Coverage because of the way they treated a fellow journalist, but it wouldn’t be fair to those that look forward to the coverage, plus I heard that Keith Little’s girl friend wanted to know if the coverage would be up tonight, so I couldn’t let her down or the rest of the Extreme Dirt Track fans, and special thanks goes out of Mike at the track for providing the help with the coverage and paying the entrance fee.

The Pro Championship point chase heated up after Elizabeth City with Darin Ogden taking the Win followed by Tim Farr and Brad Covington. Farr’s 2nd place finish was enough to catapult him into the points lead with both Goodman and Little dropping out of the lead after little had engine issues and Goodman wasn’t able to get around Scott Morris, which dropped him back to 2nd place in points with Darin Ogden moving up into 3rd.

Zac Willet will not be in the Pro lineup this weekend after wrecking on his bicycle, but Jackie Meadows will be after making atleast an one race return from retirement.

Full Results Here

Pro Heat One Lineup
111 Jackie Meadows
87 Bobby Bond
12 Keith Little
2 Darin Ogden
67 Darrell Rath
112 Adam Anderson
8 Cody Anderson

Keith Little had his Lonestar/Yamaha YFZ450 rebuilt and ready to go this weekend in Paducah as he jumped out to the early lead and never looked back as he lead the entire race with the Win over last week’s winner Darin Ogden with Daryl Rath Finishing in third.

Jackie meadows finished out in fourth place, after he decided to make a comeback from retirement aboard aboard a Yamaha YFZ450, and he has been training hard the past few weeks trying to get his YFZ and himself dialed in for tonight’s event.

We asked Jackie why did he decide to come back to racing after he planned on retiring after last year’s race, and he said “I am not real good at quitting.” Fair enough, and it was great to have him back in the lineup.

Results 4:32 Race Time
1. #12 Keith Little
2. #2 Darin Ogden
3. #67 Daryl Rath
4. #111 Jackie Meadows
5. #112 Adam Anderson
6. #8 Cody Anderson
7. #87 Bobby Bond

Pro Heat Two Lineup
426 Kelsey Stann
38 Eric Jennings
708 Harold Goodman
9 Lee Reineccius
206 Chris Firsto
5 Shane Hitt

Shane Hitt hasn’t been able to get the results he has been looking for this season, so he planned on making some changes to his Suzuki setup before Paducah. Shane Hitt and Paul Turner must have done something because he rode flawlessly in the Heat and lead from start to finish to take the Heat Win, which earned him a spot on the front row for the Main, and if he manages to get the Holeshot, Shane could be on his way to his first win of the season. Finishing in second place behind Shane Hitt was Chris Fristoe with HB racing’s Eric Jennings in third.

Harold Goodman finished in last with his goggles off, which won't help his chances of regaining the points lead starting the Main on the back row.

Results 4:33 Race Time
1. #5 Shane Hitt
2. #206 Chris Fristoe
3. #38 Eric Jennings
4. #426 Kelsey Stann
5. #09 Lee Reineccius
6. #708 Harold Goodman

Pro Heat Three Lineup
27 Brad Riley
43 Scott Morris
48 Jerry Lauber
4 Tim Farr
22 Brad Covington
626 Jason England

Tim Farr opted not to race in the Pro Am Class last week to save his engine for the Main, and it worked out for him as he finished in second place behind Darin Ogden to take over the points lead.

Tonight, Tim is looking to extend his points lead, and he was off to a great start with the Win in Heat 3 with Brad Covington apply some pressure to Farr early, but by the end of the race, Covington had given Farr plenty of breathing room, but remained in 2nd place to finish the race in front of Brad Riley.

Tim Farr finished the race in 4:30, which was the fastest race time, which will earn him first pick on the starting grid in the Main Event scheduled for 9:30PM Central Time.

Results 4:30 Race Time
1. #4 Tim Farr
2. #22 Brad Covington
3. #27 Brad Riley
4. #43 Scott Morris
5. #48 Jerry Lauber
6. #626 Jason England

Pro Main

Shane Hitt jumped out to the early lead with Keith Little and Tim Farr battling for the second spot with Chris Fristoe up to the 4th spot before he dropped out of the race after a mishap, which allowed Daryl Rath to move into the 4th spot. Harold Goodman and Jackie Meadows became tangled up early in the race, which dropped the pair back to the rear of the pack.

Meanwhile, Darin Ogden was off to a horrible start and was back to 13th early in the race, but was quickly charging his way through the pack picking up a position a lap it seemed at times. Out front the battle remained on between Little and Farr with Tim Farr applying some serious pressure to Keith Little, but with only a few laps to go, Keith received the break he needed when Tim Farr almost spun out, which allowed Keith Little to pull away from Tim, but he would be no match for Shane Hitt as he easy went on to win his first race of the season and extended his winning streak at Paducah.

Keith Little would take the checkered flag with a 2nd place finish with Tim Farr maintaining 3rd place ahead of Daryl Rath in the 4th spot, and amazingly, Darin Ogden managed to work his way up 8th positions to finish 5th.

Tim Farr’s second place finish helped him extend his points lead over both Goodman and Ogden, which will give Farr some breathing room heading into Texas, but in racing anything can happen as Keith Little proved last season with his Championship after Tim Farr held the points lead heading into Texas.

Top Five Results
1. Shane Hitt
2. Keith Little
3. Tim Farr
4. Daryl Rath
5. Darin Ogden

He will be in Texas were I hopefully can tag along with him. I felt really bad for him casue he just got the bike built the week before and put the engine in friday mourning. Hitt was on fire friday in practice and sat. in practice. Im not a suzuki guy at all, but damn that engine of hitts was just crazy fast.
