2005 FMF Extreme Dirt Track Round 4 - Elizabeth City Race Coverage

Round 4 of the FMF Extreme Dirt Track series heads to Elizabeth City, NC. Temps are in the low 80's, humid with overcast skies and a chance of rain. There are 298 riders, with 19 in the pro class. Pro practice at 5:30 with the heat races to follow. The Pro main should be run tonight at ?pm(** Pro Main has been delayed and rescheduled**).

Womens rider Mandy Brodil, currently second overall, wrecked hard today. She was taken to the hospital with a major contusion on her calf and possible torn ligaments. She will likely be out the rest of the season.

On a brighter note, Team Suzuki has Paul Turner trackside wrenching for Shane Hitt. They both feel he has a great chance tonight. He will also be there for Shane at the Paducah race.

Pro Heat 1

The three Pro divisions just completed their heat races.

Heat 1 was:
Kelsey Stamm
Cody Anderson
Keith Little
Shane Hitt
Jerry Lauder
Nathan Dallas

Keith Little jumped the start which red flagged the race and sent him to the penalty row behind the others. On the restart it was Shane Hitt getting the holeshot and leading for the first lap. But on the second lap, around one of the sharp 90 degree turns, his quad shut off. He had to be towed back to the pits, while Nathan Dallas took over the lead. Little charged up through the pack moving into second behind Dallas with Cody Anderson in third. Little and Dallas battled for the next 4 laps, until Little made his pass on the final turn before the checkered flag.

Heat 1 Finish:
Keith Little
Nathan Dallas
Cody Anderson
Kelsey Stamm
Jerry Lauder

*Shane Smith did not run after wrecking in practice on a borrowed quad from Krank-It Racing and going to the hospital for x-rays.
