2005 GNCC "Big Buck" Round #5 Morning Coverage

Women's Class

Once again, the battle is on for the Women's Championship with Stephanie Parton currently in the points lead heading into Big Buck, but with 4 throw aways, it comes down to who has the most wins by the end of the season and currently both Traci and Stephanie are tied, but with them swapping wins back and forth after each race, it was in Traci's favor to take the win if history repeated itself.

Traci Cecco was even more motivated to come out on top this race since her main sponsor Alba Action�s Owner, Cory Hove made the trip out from California to watch his team riders in action at both the GNCC and GNC events this weekend.

Shanna Bradshaw and Stefanie Verkade are both having impressive racing season and they have more in common than just racing because they are both 911 Operators outside of racing.

This season, Stefanie Verkade is looking to improve upon her 4th place finish last season and move up into the top three, and Shanna Bradshaw is making her Women's class debut this year after coming to the races last year with Mark Rhodes and the rest of the Carroll County, Maryland gang of racers including myself.

After the constant encouragement of Mark Rhodes for her to race she finally decided to give it a try this year, but unfortunately Mark Rhodes won�t be at many events as he needs to focus on building a house this year.

Shanna earned her 1st top five finish at Steele Creek and hungry for yet another plaque, congratulations Shanna and glad to see out on the track and not on the sidelines watching.

The very young, Ashlie Whaley, started her GNCC racing career last year at Loretta Lynn's and this will be her first race at Big Buck.

With the racing action about to begin, I handed off my camera to my good friend Bonnie Hamrick to help capture some of the racing action from the morning class, and this weekend I also received support my Photog(Kenny Hill), Fred Mudd, Carleen Rose, and Ed Foley, so ATVriders.com had cameras all over the track for the morning race, so if you see any of these photographers on the track let them know how much you appreciate their work because without them this wouldn't be possible.

The start of the women's race once again had Stephanie Parton and Traci Cecco battling tire to tire to get around the 1st turn with the lead.

Stefanie Verkade gave everyone a scare when she came flying off the back of her 450R after hitting the lip in the field, but she quickly jumped back up on her feet and ran over to her 450R waiting for her to continue the race.

Team Suzuki/Yoshimura Rider, Stephanie Parton, was able to power her way to the front and take over the lead as she headed out into the open fields at the start of the race with Traci Cecco knocking on her door.

By the end of the 1st lap, Traci Cecco was able to make the pass on Stephanie and take over the lead with Stephanie now right on her rear bumper.
