Review of Pro Armor's Nerf Bars for the Honda 400EX
(written by EXriders Staff)

A Review of Pro Armor's 400ex Nerf Bars. Pro Armor recently sent us a set of their new nerf bars for the Honda 400ex to review. The styling is a bit different than traditional nerf bars, but different isn't a bad thing! We have not yet installed the nerf bars on a 400ex but once we do we will update this review with their fit. The finish of the nerf bars is great, the welds are professional, the nets are top quality as well. These nerf bars are ultra light as well, constructed from heavy wall 6061-T6 aluminum, and are tig welded.

The nerf bars came in an unfinished aluminum finish, which looks ok, like any other aluminum nerf bar on the market. Pro Armor also offers these bars in a chrome finish, and although we at EXriders have not seen a picture of this finish on the nerf bars, we believe that such a finish would be the way to go for a really trick look.

Pro Armor offers a different method of mounting the nerf bars to the ATV. This method eliminates any "U" bolts and makes the mounting stronger by using a sleeved mount which fits up against the ATV frame. These nerf bars do offer more frontal protection, with the nets running up farther than most other competitors' models.

The nets mount easily and quickly, requiring no tools, not even a screw driver, to seat them properly in the triple hook "tabs" that are securely welded to the nerf bars. A real luxury for this author who has spent hours mounting nets in other nerf bars! The nets are offered in red, black, yellow, and green colors, our set being red. The nets are high quality as well, leaving us to believe they will offer years of reliable service.

A nice feature that Pro Armor's nerf bars incorporate is their built-in heel guards. This allows a rider to eliminate the 400ex's stock plastic heel guards, which are very functional but not as esthetically pleasing as they could be. The heel guards are a bit unconventional looking but that isn't a good or bad thing.

Pro Armor Nerf Bars have good looks and maximum coverage. We cannot predict their durability or fit, as the bitter cold Southeast winter precludes us from installing them or racing with them. We will do an update this spring on their fit and durability and get post that update here! We were impressed with these nerf bars and give them 4 out of 5 stars.
