New Seat Foam

Just wondering if anyone has ever had to replace the orignal foam with aftermarket foam? If you have how did it turn out and how did you do it? The foam I have is like 2" thick it looks like I will have to trim it along the edges to get the sharp corners off. I hope some can help me out some with this.
