Dune Sprockets?

What size front and rear sprockets are good for tearing it up in the dunes. Should you go higher tooth count or lower? I would like to have a little better torque going up the dunes and go a little faster across them.

go down to a 14 front, you will be very happy, there $6.99 on rocky mountain...

I've only run stock gearing and it works for me. You will lose a little bit of top speed going to a 14 tooth front sprocket.

I agree...14 tooth in front, 38 in back (stock size). I've tried a few combos, and it's the best.

Well, you're wanting to do both with your bike. Go down one to a 14 for climbing the hills, or go up one to a 16 for speed through the dunes. You can't have both. That is unless you have the motor to get away with it. I run a 16 and don't have any problems grunting it up the hills.

What sprocket is gonna last in the sand for more than 2 trips without a skid plate? All of mine last like 4 days and are totally gone.

I dont run one and never have on sand...... I stil have my stock one and its two years old......

I have an aluminum rear sprocket and it is in great shape after racing and dune trips. I run 15/36 gearing for just about anything I do.

I've heard that sand will chew up aluminum sprockets. I'd suggest steel, or if you have the money, go with Sidewinder Ti-Molly sprockets. Is supposedly twice as hard as stainless steel.

Troy is gonna get the cahin and sprockets from them for the Predator, the stock one was too stretched already so I called them for some prices ..looks like next week hopefully....

I have looked over them and from what people have told me, the renthals are pretty damn strong, and i hate skidplates, all they seem to do it get in the way. NEways, thanks for the info, i will probably go with the 14 up front and leave the rear alone.
