Whats the best way to build small jumps like without any power tools or anything?

a shovel, and dirt....old school....depending on the terrain and where u want ot build it...

I built a double jump that has about a 15 to 20 foot gap, with a jump height of about 6 foot, and a pretty good size landing ramp, using a shovel and wheel barrel. When people see it, they cant believe that i shoveled that much dirt. Not too many tracks where i am at, that have doubles, and i wanted to get comfortable jumping big gaps. Before making my double jump, i did not have alot of experience on double jumps, so i started small, and when i got comfortable with a certain height of the jump, and gap, i would make the landing ramp farther away and make the jump higher. When your doing all the digging, your constantly thinking about how cool it will be to jump this high and far, and i was not thinking about all the digging i was doing, so all the work is worth it.

thats true about the digging. While your doing it all your thinking about is hitting the jump when your done with it and it deffinetely keeps your mind of the digging part.

ive only built BMX dirt jumps but they take a lot of work and all we do is dig a big hole and put he dirt in a big pile then shape it. it takes a long time but it is worth it!!!!!

We use big logs stacked up to take up some space, then start digging, and cover them up.

If you're gonna build something about 6 foot, get some of those blue oil barrels if you can find em layin around. Takes a little bit to shape the jump but usually you can make an alright base out of it. The biggest jump I've shoveled is prolly a 7 footer with a flat landing. Definitely not doing that one on the 250 again. Crazy stuff and a bent axle

That is a good idea about using lumber and barrels to take up space under the jump. I will probably do that for future jumps. Instead of spending two hundred dollars to rent a bobcat, i would rather use the two hundred dollars, to pay for gas money and entrance fees to races.

well i like to have something under the dirt for support we have 3 doubles one will a car trunk under it the ohter will a 2 bus tires and the last one with a water pump of some sort thye all work good they are all 20-30 ft

build em out of dirt. the first jump i ever mad was a 16 foot gap. it only had a 2'.5" - 3' high launch & a 2' high ,8' wide &10' long landing. it put u up about 6feet in the air. it really wasnt big but it was fun as hell. just make sure u have enough runnging room & enough room to land

i want to go build another track now.

I built a jump about 2 years ago.

I got a bunch of logs, filled it in wif sand, and put mud over the top and it still works.

get a friend to help you, that way it will take less time and you will have someone to talk to while working.

My friends and i built a 6 foot one out of 2 by 4's and plywood
its is a sick jump. i recomend doing this

cause i am also looking to build some jumps on our property. well more of a track but what is a track with out jumps?

get a bunch of logs about 6 feet long, put one layer down, cover with dirt. pack that dirt, put another layer of logs on, put dirt on top....Do that until the jump is about 6"-1' smaller than you want, depending on the size, and then just add dirt till its smooth and dont forget to pack it

yeah, barrying stuff helps alot. I'm tryin to get ahold of a huge stack of railroad ties from a neighbor, the stack alone is like 6' high, and about 15' long!

an idea to use is taking dirt from infront of the jump, so in a sense you are actually raising the hight of your jump by lowering the run in. I wouldn't suggest using things like those blue barrels or anything else that has the possiblity to collapse... Just in case...

Hell yeah ramping those home made jumps is awesome! Just get some logs or 2x4s or something like that and stack them then cover and pack 'em with dirt and you have ya a nice little ramp. Loads of fun!

I had a jump made that was a small hill that was extended with a little bit of dirt...

...but then it got ran over by my neighbors bushhog.

You could also build a small jump going down a hill, that is always a nice thrill. Plus you dont need a landing ramp since it is already sloped downward. But you dont wanna do it on too steep of a hill. Doing that would make a fine line between cushy landing and cushy hospital bed.
