Will a 400ex Carb. fit on my 300ex

i know the two are different, i think the 300ex's throttle cable directly moves the slide or something and it goes through the top, while the 400ex's goes through the side and uses something else.. i really have no clue but i'm pretty sure i heard that somewhere
