Can anyone tell me what the voltage level should be for the battery when the 400EX is idling. At what RPM does the battery charge at. I just installed a new battery a few weeks ago, had a couple of runs on the machine and the battery is now week (under twelve volts)????

thanks.

I would expect 13 volts, at least, but no more than 15.
the battery should charge anytime the engine is running, but will do so at a lower level if the lights are on, or the engine is idling.

was the battery fully charged when it was installed? It would take a looooong ride to charge a battery completely, like 300 miles, so it might be a good idea to put a charger on it for a few hours.

Is the battery cold? the available voltage will decrease significantly if it's cold.

The battery will discharge if left hooked up during long periods of non-use. for long term storage, it's a good idea to disconnect the ground cable.
