it dosent seem like my choke does any thing. i still have to give it some gas for a while till it will hold. it dosent change when i use choke or not. also when i give it gas it seems to pop a little when the choke is on? i dont get it

its all part of warming up the engine.

Did you add an aftermarket air filter (higher flow)? If so, you will most likely need to up the pilot jet to add more fuel to the pilot circuit of the carb. Thats my problem, but I just turn the idle/air mixture screw during warm-up about a turn or 2, then when she's warm, turn it back. Eventually you'll want to put in the larger pilot jet.
