i think with the 13 on i wont have to use the Clutch so much and thus dont get as bad a arm pump.
hows your shoulder? comming along on sunday?
No way is Tomahawk going to be like sugar hill thats extremly tight & tough you should be ok.

You have to be rich like seatec to afford a YFZ.
Posted by: seatec
Why does everybody think im rich??? i have lotsa debt for sure. lol
Posted by: YLW400
My current debts will not allow for too many more debts..lol
Posted by: seatec
i think the only thing my quad needs for now is the +1 a-arms and them im done. Am really hoping those DiRisi shock revavles will be good for me since with my weight i really dont think the shocks can be set up for me properly. i had to crank the pre load up m=on my rear shock so high to attain semi proper sag, the shocks feels like a pogo stick for others.

shocks wont handle your what
you should like the de risi set up...its pretty sweet.

Your either rich or have a large limit on your credit cards
you are always buying something for that bike.

YLW400, my brother picked up a 450R from Ridersville last friday for 5899 and they had just gotten 4 more in!

I made it a point to never buy anything for the quad i cant pay out right for since its such a bad investment to begin with and i don't want to pay any interest on it as well.
SO cletus. how tight is Tomahawk?
Virgin tight?
Posted by: Pappy
Tomahawk WAS tight but after complaints they widened the course. Ive riden it for fun and had a blast!
Posted by: seatec
Oh yeah. Forgot. Everyone who is going to Tomahawk this weekend should PM RTSE440 and tell him that he has to come with me to do the pictures and movie. I'm going over to his property on Friday to re-jet since its going to be pretty warm on Sunday and he will be practicing shooting with the Vid.Cam.

Well thats music to my ears.
oh and my shocks can handle my ........ fine thank you
Posted by: Pappy
My first lap thru the woods, I was looking down and I could see where someone had cut down tree's and I was thinking...Dayummm....that had to be tight before they took that tree out. So about 2 miles in I damn near ran over Brian and his trusty chainsaw
Its is a good course, there is onlt 1 section id consider rocky other then that i could do it in 2nd and 3rd gear thru the woods on one side and 1st and 2nd on the other
Posted by: seatec
Thanx for the info and while i have your attentin let me bend your ear some more.
What pressure in the tire where you running in them there woods. im runnin razrII all around with hipers. wanna know because i dont feel like limping out of there with a flat if i can help it.
Posted by: Pappy
5 psi all the way around. and if they run it like they did a few weeks back they will route you around the double double double section
but hit the uphill double, its fun

Seatec I told you it would'nt be as tight as Sugar hill that place is really tight, during a race there would be real bad bottlenecks if alot of the race was that tight. Im running 3 1/2 psi in my razor 2's,4 if you feel safe with that but it will be a rougher ride.

Is it that bad there Pappy ?I ran 3 1/2 to 4 a Antiedum & was fine. The Razor 2's are just so stiff you have to run lower air pressure.
Posted by: Pappy
i run 5...and knock on wood no flats in 3 years

I'm not saying it isn't fun and there are sections where your rubbing tires on both sides. I would consider Tomahawk tight out of all the tracks D-7 runs. As for rocks, they aren't the only thing that can make a track tough. The little stumps and rutted out off cambers can be tricky in a race. This track is a lot different than Budd Creek, which is the only track some of you have run. But hey this is just me opinion and you guys can decide for your self on Sunday.
and by the way it wasn't the quad guys *****ing it was the dirtbike riders who said it was too tough.

Alright...I'm going with Seatec to Tomahawk on Sun to do the camera stuff. I'm in! Just everybody be ready for great pics of the end of their exhaust as I am too slow with the digital to capture the moment.
.... I'll practice some on Fri with seatec in my woods. I'm gonna make him run up and down the trail repeatedly until I get the pics down
Hey Pappy.....Got any good pointers for the digital action pic taking? You seem very good at it. I got a Cannon S50 Powershot...5 mega pixels, digtal and optical zoom. Never really tried action shots much. There is a delay from when you hit the button to when the pic takes. Any advice is welcome.
Posted by: seatec
YESSS. Very cool. Ill be there on friday and we can practice.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Seatec, I have everything ready to go for the trailer and will be finishing it on Friday. Do you want to through the quads on the trailer and take your truck? I will cover the fuel! Hey do you have a towing package on that beast? Hitch,7 pin conn (round) 2" ball
Posted by: seatec
hey its all the same to me buddy. the truck has the towing package. round connector and two inch ball.
i will leave my quad at Chris and will pick it up sunday morning with chris. we can all ride down together.
is your buddy comming?
Posted by: cletusEX
What time are you all thinking of getting there?
Posted by: seatec
i was hoping we'd get there like 9:30 or 10am
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Cool if you have the round connector then you have the right one. I did talk to Jim and he is going but he is going to race his CRF450. He might want to leave early so this might work best. One more question do you have an electric brake controller in your truck(little black box about the size of a ciggarette box with controls on it) you wont need it since the trailer is light but it does help when you have to stop in a real big hurry
Glad to hear you are comming Chris
Posted by: seatec
no brake controller but i do have 4 wheel disks! hehe.
ill drive defensivley or is it aggresively? lol

Tomahawk sounds like it would be alot of fun.
I just got back from Durhamtown Plantation in Georgia late Tuesday night. Pretty cool place to ride. They had plenty of trails to ride on, one even had jumps throughout the trail. They had 2 mx tracks for the quads to ride. Not too hard, and they were really fun to ride. I did all but 1 of the doubles on my 450r. I used Pappy's suggestion for setting up the suspension on the 450, and I gotta give it a thumbs up. It was very smooth on the track and on the trail. Now I have to get new shocks for the 250r! I didn't want to ride it because the 450r ran so good down there. We need places to ride like that around here.

I am as ready as i can for now but hope to work on my stamina and general condition this year so ill be able to do a serious season next year. I'm gonna tune the quad tomorrow on RTSE440's property and get the jetting dialed in forthe warmer weather. am thinking a 168 and 45 pilot with a gytr pipe and ehs lid and twin air filter.
SOund about right Pappy?

The damn thing was falling appart on him at easton. had to give him a bolt so the crossbar wouldnt fall off.
Nah, man i thought it looked pretty sweet too. Sounded real good too.
Did we ever figure out if we can al park together at Tomahawk?
CLetus, youve been there. how is the parking layed out? shoot we go for a croner somewhere?
Also, how we do the refueling (if we need to)
At budds is this neat bearm that comes out of the woods is adjacent to the left side of the parking field. YOu can leave your gas can right there.
Posted by: YLW400
Yea, that was after I cased the big double and smacked my face off of the crossbar...lmao

This was over a year ago I didn't even know it was you at the time just remembered seeing the bike and you describing it on the site.
Seatec, the parking is a lot smaller than Budds, but it's still a pretty big field. When you pull in the drive way we usually park to the right, somewhere up by the treeline. I don't think you will need to refill, my buddy can race an hour and a half on a full tank on his YFZ.

Thanx for the info CLetus. well will park on the right then. Im ging to make Eric stand on the roof of the truck with a little flag to show you where we are.

Any of you guys know about the big bore kits for the 400ex, I need new rings so I figured I might as well drop in a high-comp piston while I got it apart. Like whats the best size to throw in. Id really like to stay on pump gas even though I can get ??? (cant remember the name, c-12 maybe) for 4 bucks a gallon.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Chucked... stick with pump gas and go with the 416cc. Do a search on here about the topic and you will find all the info you need. I rode Honda5's 400ex and it had a stage2 cam and an ingnition box and T4 pipe. It was plenty strong with the stock bore. My friend at work spent a lot of money on a 440 kit and was not impressed with the cost to performance ratio. My recomendation is to take it to 416cc, new cam, ing. box and port work and I think you will be surprised at how much you like it plus you will notice the true benifit of that big gun after all the mods.JMO

what size mm is the 415, 87? Yea I already ordered my dyna ignition, stage 2 cam, I need new valve seals so Im gonna go all the way and get it ported out all nice, along with bigger valves. Im gonna start on it monday since its going to be almost 80 degrees this sunday.
Posted by: Honda5
yea. don't spend the money on the 440 kit. I had a slow 400ex (don't know why just slow from day one) the t-4 helped some but, when I put the stage 2 cam in WOW! It pulls so much harder. you won't be able to put a stock pipe back on I tryed to so I could take it in a state park and the bike would hardly run.
Posted by: YLW400
I just put a HRC cam in mine this week, I'll give you a report.....
Posted by: seatec
hey dAVE YOUR ALIVE. hehe
Just got back from doing a few laps on RTSE440 property while he was getting used to taking pics and video of a fast moving object. (more like slow) the weather was freaking perfect. I could not have taken off a better day.
anyway. i am getting ancy to go to tomahawk.

Posted by: seatec
Yes SIre. i will be waiting by the phone holding my breath.. lol

Yeah I've found that the slower and older a person says they are the faster they are on the track.
Posted by: seatec
i told you guys Greg is full of it. he zip through the woods like he is on rails. we gonna be eatin his dust.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
I wish that the Nats were next week so that I could have gotten out to see our D-7 buds in action. I hope they all do well.

Yeah I've always wanted to go to Budds and watch the quad nationals but never got to actually see them run. I would be there this weekend if there wasn't a race.
Posted by: cletusEX

looks like I better go and invest in some boingers if there are that many races!!
Posted by: cletusEX
You guys thinking of hitting any of the GNCCs? I'm going to try and hit the Wisp, Rausch Creek and the one in Virginia at least. I think they are a lot more fun than the local races.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
If I can find the time and get into better shape I might take a shot at one.
Posted by: seatec
Eric, i thing you definately wants some shocks for that z. its plusher than most stock quads but hour and a half race is someting else.
I would like to do a GNCC. was thinking of doing Rausch.
Posted by: cletusEX
Those three are pretty close. The one at Wisp is close the the Oakland races on the d-7 schedule. At the nationals you are never alone on the track so it is really good at becoming a faster rider. You are constantly being pushed and an extra half hour isn't too bad on the body.
Posted by: seatec
First i wanna make it through my first race. ill see from there,

When are your revalved shocks by Derisi supposed to be in? I'm curious to see how you like them.

Just race your race and you'll finish. Don't push your self too much on the first lap. Once you get into a nice rythmn you won't even be thinking about how tired you are. Also, the less time you spend off the quad getting it off trees the less tired you will be, so pick good lines and if slowing down is what you need to do in order to get through a section clean do it.
Posted by: seatec
probably next week or shortly thereafter. i am very curious too and will do a full report on them for you guys. i hear good things about them.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Nick you must be in good shape because I felt like I was going to die half way into my second lap then the burn went numb and I just pushed until the race was over. I just can't belive how out of shape I have gotten over the past two years. I am working on getting back in shape though.

No way am I in shape, but you just get used to racing. I pretty much know I'm gonna get arm pump like the second lap, but if I keep pushing it, it goes away and then I get real comfortable on the bike. Being in shape helps so much. At our practice track I can keep up with my brother and 2 other riding buddies (all of which are pretty fast) but then I start fading and have to just run my pace, while they pull away. As you race more you understand what your body is going to do and then you either slow down or keep pusing it.
Posted by: cletusEX
Eric do you run a steering stabilizer?

With a lot of the close nationals and local races coming up you should be alright for riding.
Posted by: chucked
I figure instead of payin admission fee's, gas, missing work etc... Id just ride around here, if I get caught a few times a year Ill just call it even.

I don't know some of those trespassing tickets are pretty steep. I also have been in trouble with the law enough to know I don't want anything to do with them.

well tresspassing is a misdemeaner and the max fine is $500, but my 4 wheeler is registered and I have the registration tag, and I do carry written premission from my neighbor and the guy that owns 90% of the property behind my house. And whats been happening around here recently is, if you have the registration tags, the cop will just run ur #'s and let you go if its all good.

Yeah if you know most of the land you ride on you don't have a problem. I run an aftermarket frame so there aren't any numbers and have way too much money in my quad to get it taken away.

hey it was kick *** racing with you fellas today.
Posted by: Pappy

Posted by: Pappy

I know my kid was disappointed not getting to go to budds creek but atleast he got to see some racing. (i was too

Posted by: chucked
Mike Andrews broke his collar bone last night. Dont know what happened though. It was funny cuz yesterday his friend "chub chub" said he'd never seen mike wreck before.

and the newly designed jump in the back section of teh MX track is awesome! i got air
Posted by: seatec
Well, i tell ya. suprisingly, i feel really good. i have a minor ache on my right thigh but other than that i feel really good. it might be because i popped a few advil this morning. lol.
i think i was 14 or 15 overall but am not sure. i got 4 laps in.
When i saw the white flag i almost pulled off and say, "Tho hell with this" but i didnt want a DNF on my first HS. That would not have been a good start so i pressed on. The first three laps i had to make at least 3 stops because my arms whewre just killing me and i couldnt hang on to the handlebars. but in the last lap i wanted to make it through without stopping and i made it , barely that is.
i was damn happy seeing that checkered flag but almost sh&t when the guy said that i had one more lap to go. he was kidding of course but i was to tired to notice.
In short, it was one of the coolest things i have ever done and will continue to race.
it was pretty cool haning out with all you guys.
