Posted by: seatec

Greg,
Let me know ahead of time and ill come wth you. Maybe if Eric has time then he can join us too. am dying to do a HS. We where doing pretty good in the woods today and actually went through some serious mud bogs and had a blast. took me an hour and a half ot get my quad to look show room again.

Posted by: cletusEX

Next Sunday Budds his having there Blue-Gray HS. That is always a fun layout.

Posted by: seatec

Sounds like a blast.

Posted by: greghall

Pappy is putting up the Tomahawk race pics now check them out ,man I wish I was there today.

Posted by: cletusEX

Yeah Tomahawk was fun today. I had a horrible race and have bent and broken parts to prove it, but that's racing. My brother did pretty good, he came in 2nd in 4 stroke B. There was a good number of quads for a D-7 race.

Greg I don't know when the next race after Budds is. I have a schedule but I left it in the trailer. I'll try to let you know when I find out.

Posted by: seatec

how did you bend those parts? Tree jump out at ya?

Posted by: RTSE440

Somebody PLEASE take Seatec on a HS! He's chomping at the bit . Glad you guys had a good ride today.

Broken scapula and all, I just had to ride the quad today for a min or two...until my wife came out and ripped me a new *****! I just used the "bad" arm to control the throttle. The left,"good", did all the steering. Think I'll try it tomorrow as well...while she's at work .

haha i know what thats like, I was riding before I was walking when i broke my ankle a few months back.

Posted by: seatec

crazy!

Posted by: greghall

Seatec get ready for that HS Im going to be in your class I expect you to holeshot me with that E button

Posted by: cletusEX

Yeah I broke my steering stabilizer banging off some trees. That courses was rocky enough to make riding without a stabilizer a pain. I also rolled the quad and bent up the stem pretty good. I haven't really looked at the front end so I don't know if anything else is bent. Luckily I am not in too bad of shape, some scrapes and bruises.

Posted by: greghall

CletusEX how many bikes were in 4 stroke B it didnt look like it was that many from the pics.

Posted by: cletusEX

24 in 4 stroke B, 4 in 2 stroke B, maybe 10-12 vet, and quite a few in the A class

Posted by: greghall

How long did they run you guys & how many laps did the leaders get?

Posted by: cletusEX

They ran us for an hour and a half and I think the leaders got like 6-7 laps.

Posted by: YLW400

Jrspawn.........I was there on Sunday, is that when you were there?? What were you riding?

buwahhhaha. your kidding right?! Ill be the guy who is at the end of the line and just trying to make it thorugh the race. Holeshots are for people like you, Richy, Eric and cletus.
I am am feeling stronger in my arms and leggs now that i ride at leats once a week. i am going to ride sat and Sunday from now on to build up more stamina.

Glad you made it out ok.

thats why I race MX....lmao

Posted by: seatec

VCHSS Blue - Gray 100
SO what exactly does this race entail?

As i read above, its a HS with some MX track section to it? Why is it the "100".
Let me know, don't want to get in over my head(as usual).

Posted by: jrspawn

Hey, i was there also on sunday, i was on my quadracer there.

justin
jrspawn@aol.com

Posted by: Delaware152

jrspawn...I was there also on Sunday. I was parked right next to Gil. I think you know him also.

Posted by: pgregg85

jrspawn, I was also there on Sunday.

Posted by: cletusEX

Seatec, I'm pretty sure there is nothing really special about this race. I don't know what the 100 means. In past years it was an hour and a half and had a combination of all three tracks. I'm not sure what you need as far as cards. I was at the last blue-gray race and I signed up with an ama and a d-7 card. It is a fun race and there is usually a good turn out of all skill levels.

Posted by: seatec

Cletus. sounds like fun. according to the weather forecast we are going to have lots of rain this week. going to make for a soggy race. Good Times

btw. what class are we doing? whats the best for a out of shape 33 year old? hehe

Posted by: cletusEX

I always race B class because that is the lowest at all the D-7 points race. I don't know if because this race is put on by the VCHSS if the classes will be different. You will do fine in the B class.

Rain and Budds don't mix to good. The right line through the mud holes makes all the difference. It takes a lot out of you when you have to pull your bike out of the mud. I usually slow down a little and pick a good line, it saves time and energy in the long run.

Posted by: jrspawn

Hey, yeah i accually grew up with gil, he's freakin awesome on a quad. First time i also met dustin wimmer, he definetly ripped that track up. There was some guy there on a cannondale i talked to a little over with gil, that guy was ripping the place up too. I had a blast riding there and hanging out with everyone at easton, im planning on going back this next sunday, cant wait.

justin
jrspawn@aol.com

Posted by: seatec

B-Class it is. I knw what you are saying with BUdds and rain. they have some good mudd hols when it gets wet in there. when i did a HS on bike i also took my time going through and never once got stuck. as long as i finish im happy. Maybe we should mount paddle tires. hehe.

Posted by: cletusEX

I remember one race last year at Budds it had rained all week. I have never got stuck that much in my life. I stuck my quad pretty good and was trying to get it out and had all these people telling me to pull it this way and push it that way, but no one would actually lend a hand. I got pissed and stuck it in 2nd and just really layed into it. I was cussing my brains out and mud was flying everywhere! People where running to get away from me. I think that race single handedly caused me to have to rebuild my motor, but looking back it's pretty funny.

Posted by: greghall

I raced some SERIOUS mudd races at Budds their's holes back there that will swallow a quad but if you use the stuck quads for traction you can get through always stop & pick a line before you comit to mudd, a mistake & your race is over.Ive won almost all the mudd races I entered because of being smart & having 22 inch all tracs on the rear when it was real muddy. I loved the mudd because it evens out the fast guys everybody has a chance to win.

Posted by: seatec

Greg, so you are saying i should take my stock rims and throw some 22" all threads on there?
What about air pressure? as low as i can without popping a bead. come on man, spill the beans and help a newbie out.
Things to do before a Mud fest Race
1. Drench the Quad in WD40
2. Put 20 Tear offs on you goggles and spare goggles
3.Have spare pair of gloves ready.
4. Air down tires (to what?)
5.What else?

Let's hear it or ill hole shoot you! Yeah Right!!!

Posted by: YLW400

Hey Jrspawn, the guy in the Cannondale was Delaware152 ...I did see you, cause I remeber the Quadracer.....You oughta hit Seaford this Sunday instead of Easton...Have you ever been there?

Posted by: seatec

jrspawn
Don't get sucked in with the likes of YLW400 and pgregg. They are a bunch of MX Glory boys and will lead you from the Path.

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

Greg I have all the experience you can imagine when it comes to having babbies. I know what you mean by stress. I have 4 kids, 2 girls and two boys (actually three boys but that is a long story) I tell you there is no sress in having a schedualled c-section. not knowing when she is going to deliver and being at work is real stress. anyway I wish you two good luck and hope everything goes well.

Posted by: seatec

THank god i am spared with all that baby stuff. I am sure that once they are there you'll love em above anything else. I hope eveything will go well with you, your wife and newborn.

Yes, i will definately go to the HS at Budds.
I have two pair of spy goggles and dont think the scotts roll of will fit on them. With the tear off you just gotta keep moving hehe.

I am thinking about having the door installed since I make about double what they will charge in the time that it would take me to install it myself. However there is no shot of getting a contractor out here before the weekend and I have hung these things before so looks like I am stuck with doing it myself.

Hey I am buying a camper on Thursday! Not one of those fancy toyboxes you were looking at but it is something to take the kids camping in. here is a good set of pics from some dealer. I bought mine from a friend camper

I am thinking of doing a trip to Hatfield McCoy in the fall, now I have a place to stay

Posted by: YLW400

Don't worry Pappy...I will be bringing it to Tomahawk on April 25th

Posted by: Pappy

Im liking that track so much I might just be on the line beside you

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

I watched some video from the HS at Tomahawk last weekend and that place looks awsome. I am looking forward to riding there.

Posted by: Pappy

Let me know if anyone is heading up there and when, I live like 4 minutes from the front gate.....2 minutes if I ride the trails to the track

Posted by: seatec

Eric, those Pop Ups are great. Take up no space at all.
So, you guys are talkng about lining up on the mx track or HS track? I thought you only did woods Pappy!?

Must be nice living that close to a cool track.

I think he is out in MA with his new Mobile home or something riding the dunes wiht B.

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

here is the link to Tomahawk Tomahawk

Hey Pappy can you ride over there and tell them to update thier web page!!! Oh and your boy has one heck of a nice quad. I saw the pics you posted in the minis. Go Cody Go!!!!

Hey do they race 50cc quads there. My boy is nuts about trying a race. He has a LT50, do they have anything for him???

Posted by: seatec

Yeah, your right. THe web page is a little outdated but i guess they are busy keeping the track in order.

Posted by: cletusEX

Tomahawk is an awesome place to ride. The mx track is fun for those who spend most of their time in the woods. (No really big doubles and a couple of tabletops to hit) The woods track is as good a practice for HS racing there is. Nice and tight with a few wide open places. If I don't have a HS race I might try another MX race up there. Last MX race up there I came in dead last but had a good time.

Posted by: seatec

I dont know man, having people like Pappy and YLW400 zipping around me on an MX track doesnt sound attractive to me.

Posted by: cletusEX

I usually don't have to worry about to many people passing me on a mx track due to my horrific starts. That's what I like about HS racing. There is a lot of time to catch people and for people to get hung up.

Posted by: MooseRacing

Hey YLW I think I will be doing a couple of quad MX races at Tomahawk....just for sh*ts and giggles...you know I don't jump!

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

I think you are sandbagging on us. I have a sneeky suspission you were top dog in Europe.

Posted by: YLW400

Yea, my ***** Brian...lol As long as you run vet class, or B, I don't care lol

Pappy, you talking about running a MX there, cause I don't do the woods...lol If you do, you gotta run C class with us

buwahhahhhhh!! Me?? Yeah, maybe playing soccer or swimming (in my younger years) but the first time i ever owned a dirtbike was in 2002 and the first time ever that i rode a quad was when i bough the YFZ last year.

BTW, Can you get roll offs for spy goggles anywhere. i only see tear offs. If they have roll offs for the spy i bet i have to get the lenses without the posts. Argh, the spending never ends

Posted by: YLW400

I'm going to have to talk to Chad, I can see that now lolWe don't need any sandbaggers back in C class!! lol Plus you might screw up my streak!!!!! lol

I think Seatec is too hard on himself...I bet he rides alot better that he thinks he does....

Posted by: cletusEX

Seatec, some people like tear offs better. With roll offs you only have a small space of clear lense. With tear offs you get the whole lense cleared. My brother would rather use tear offs than roll offs. I prefer the roll offs but I also have a real bad habit of taking off my goggles.

Posted by: seatec

YLW400 thanks for the confidence. I think my biggest enemy is my endurance, i can whip the quad around on a track but my arms and leggs start hurting bad. It is getting better since i started riding more at Sugar HIll. THat place is a blessing since it is so close to me and in the morning nobody is on the trails.

Yeah, i ki d of like the tear offs too but the roll offs last longer i think. i can get about 15 tear off on the spy before the posts get to short. I can load up two goggles and just swap them i guess.

Posted by: YLW400

I have tried them both and currently use ROll-Off's...The reason I don't use the tear-off's is because I can never grab just one...I end up pulling all of them off the first time I grab one..then I am stuck with muddy goggles....I like the roll off's alot, but some people hate them...

Ahh, a greedy tear off grabber.
Don't have that problem myself so ill just stick with the tear offs for now.

Seatec... go up and see Dan at Mid atlantic he has a chit load of tear offs and he sells Spy tear offs in bulk.

YLW if you put your tearoffs on right you can only grab one at a time.

Posted by: seatec

You are absolutely right. It will come with time. I wish could ride during the week after work or something.
I am going to make an effort to ride at least 2 times during the weekend to increase my endurance and may start running a bit.
Need to get a good knee brace before i can start running. Oh well, it's not like i ride for a living or anything. As long as it is fun i say.

Yeah, i get the bulk tear offs (50) from Pete's. i get a discount from them.
How late is Dan open during the week anyway?

hehe,
just to make sure and dont want to insult your intelligence. You did fold the tab back onto the post before you put on the next tear off right?

i feel a barrage comming.

Posted by: YLW400

Of course I did....lol

Posted by: seatec

lol....i figured. So you just grab a handfull of plastic and rip.

I bet you like the roll of better because you like tugging on things.

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

Seatec.. just got off the phone with Josh at mid atlantic he only has 20 packs in stock for 10 bucks before the discount. He got wiped out of the 50's on friday but has more on order.

JC...... sure you did... j/k

Posted by: cletusEX

Yeah I'm trying to get out every weekend and put some time in riding to help build up some endurance. Now that I got most of the problems ironed out on my rebuild I should be good to ride at least every weekend. I keep thinking about running during the week, but unless something is chasing me I have a hard time motivating myself to run.

lol, yeah i usually only run when chased also.

poor YWL. Cant figure how to work the tear off's. Maybe if you wherent so busy trying to whipe out the Bike boys youd have time to properly tear them off one by one

Myself I have always used Tearoffs because I like a full field of vision, and I like knowing how many I have left.

BTW, Are all of you guys going to make it to the EXriders.com Group Ride on May 15th & 16th. It would be great to get to meet some of you guys since we are all from Maryland.

Also, are you guys trying to create the largest thread ever on EXriders.com

I've been in college for the last 4 years, so I think I could give anybody a run for their money!

I tried to get to Easton last Sun., but I was having some serious g/f problems. She lives in Galena, MD, and I was going to stay at her place and get up in the morning and go. I was hoping to get to meet you guys down there.

I start vacation next week and will be heading to Durhamtown Plantation, somewhere outside of Atlanta GA, next Thursday night. I can't wait. I am taking both of my r's, my friends will have a 310r & 330r there, plus a modded banshee. I'll see what the 450r has for them. It will be a good time.

Posted by: cletusEX

I have a feeling the new "R" will do fine!

Posted by: seatec

So lets tally who's going to Budd's this weekend.

1. Cletus
2. Seatec
3. Eric (maybe if he can hang the door)
4.????

Greg, can you get in touch with Richy? Maybe he would like to come down this weekend and show us how its done?

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

Looks like I am in foe Sunday at budds

Posted by: YLW400

Pgregg....If Chad did that, I would have to sabotage all of your all's quads!

You would be hard pressed to do that to mine. I sleep on mine , you know But then again, i wont be doing a MX race either(any time soon)

Eric, thats great news. we should go down together. Got that trailer? We can put it on your or my truck. We have to pick up Chris (RTSE440) on the way since he is ging to be the media guy.
Maybe we can get some cool footage and ill edit it and burn some DvD's for us.
We can then use the footage to persuade YWL400 to do a HS.

Yeah right. Fat chance! The only Tree J.C. likes is a Palm Tree on a sunny beach!

lol, that would be funny as hell. Instead of cuttng my throat you would cut the cooling line or something.

Posted by: YLW400

Naaaa, I'll just pull the plug wire so it won't start lol

Posted by: pgregg85

I do just fine getting dnf's and dns's on my own

Posted by: seatec

How nice of you lol

Man, i cant wait till Sunday. I know ill probably curse the quad and the earth when i get stuck in a mud bog but after wards i know its going to feel good.

The Quad will get a nice WD40 bath on Saturday. Oil and filter change. Control cable lube and a stern talking too not to leave me stranded in some mud hole.
After hearing that some people have problems with their battery, i am seriously considering putting on the Kick starter as a backup.
The only thing is that i cant have my AC propegs on and would have to cut the rear fender. i wish they made a kit that kicks forward like the TRX but oh well. The YFZ would almost be TO perfect

Posted by: seatec

JC/Paul,
here you go. that might be something to do for you guys.
The $500 might take your fear of Trees away.

Posted by: cletusEX

I'll be at Budds on Sunday with my brother (DoctorRags) and two other friends. (250RXCrider) Should be a good time, but get there early if you can the lines to sign up can be pretty long.

Posted by: seatec

10-4 on the lines. I remember when i did HS on the bike there. the lines woud wrap around the building. What time are you going to be there Cletus?

Posted by: YLW400

I Would do more than 500.00 damage to my quad, so it wouldn't be worth it lol

Posted by: chucked

dont u guys have jobs? Or do you just chat on exriders all day long?

Posted by: seatec

Hey, i got a job. It's to manager other to do their job. lol.

are you hiring?

Posted by: cletusEX

I'm in college so I have a lot of free time in between class.

Seatec I don't know what time I will be there exactly, it all depends on how early everyone else I ride with wants to leave. I'll let you know closer to Sunday.

Posted by: pgregg85

Seatec, I would love to try and win the 500 bucks but my quad would have a melt down within the first hour. All I need is a B or C rider with a nice production quad thats not scared to get it a little dirty.

Posted by: seatec

Chucked. Sorry have all the staff that i need right now. Besides, one more person and i REALLY didnt have to do anything anymore.

I'd do it but i suck on the mx track and have no edurance so no dice.

Paul, JC quad is in good shape with the new cam in and all. wink wink

Posted by: YLW400

Paul has seen me ride, he knows better...lol

Posted by: seatec

yeah right!

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

WOW I had an interesting/stupid day yesterday! I took the day off to do a fieldtrip with my boy and when I got home my buddy who has a dual sport bike decided we should go for a ride at our friends place near Rock state park. Well since he has tags I deciced why load the quad up in the truck... I know some trails to get there but we have to hit a couple of roads..... sure enough on the way home when I crossed RT23 guess who was sitting on in the intersection waiting to make a turn?!?!?!? Johhny law! well all I can say is he didn't have a chance to even come close to catching me but I found out real quick that I need a rev box!!!
This was one of the more stupid things I have done in years so all you little kiddies out there that read our thread take this as warning you get caught you can loose a lot! I got away from the law but when my wife figuerd out what happened...well I am still getting my *** chewed!

Oh by the way the green machine kicks *** but I do need that rev box bad!

Seatec give me a call after 10 am if you can bud.

Posted by: seatec

dumbass!!!!!

I go into a meeting for a few hours at around 10 so i will have to call you later. Cool?

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

dumbazz I am!! my wife reminds me every ten minutes. She started off with you are selling that thing now I am just cut off for a few days

Just give me a call when you get a chance I am on my morning conference call till about 10 so whenever you get a chance just call me. Oh the trailer is a not on the road yet. I need 4 tires and the inspection cert. should be ready next week

I know that I am planning on puting the 3 foot snorkel extention on my intake and I am converting my swingarm into a propeller system..... It's gonna be wet and muddy!!!! I think Budds creek is definnatly gonna be a creek. I wonder if they can clean up the place enough to get the race in on Sunday.

Posted by: jrspawn

Anyone gonne be at easton sunday? Or will it be too muddy there?

justin
jrspawn@aol.com

Posted by: seatec

maybe we should rent some jet ski's for budds HS

Posted by: cletusEX

I don't think Budds is going to be to bad. There will definitely be some big mud holes but I think the rest of the track won't be too hateful. Another problem will be the ruts in the woods. The bikes race before us and have a tendence to use the same line in the woods, when the ground is wet this creates some ridiculously deep ruts. But what are ya going to do. I'm still looking forward to Sunday.

Posted by: chucked

has anyone heard about that kid that will be riding who's father just died. hes going to do a lap around the track at budds this weekend in memory of his father, He was a good friend of my neighbors.

Clean it LOL you'll be lucky if Beasely pulls you out ,if its stops raining the day or two before It may dry out just watch the low areas.

My baby girl arrived yesterday 8.2lbs coming home maybe saturday, hope you guys have fun at Budds i'll see ya at the nexst one I hope, still got a little work to do at home & on my bike,so good luck & dont get stuck.

Posted by: kwatts400

Congrats on your baby girl, greghall.

I think I will be finishing my bikes for the trip to Georgia this weekend. I can't wait for my vacation to start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: seatec

Greg, Congrats on your baby Girl. Everything went well i hope.

I am sure your wife wouldnt mind you to ride budds this weekend. YEAH RIGHT!!!! hehe.

So, what do we do if we get stuck and get ourselves out? walk back and ask some guys to help out?

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

Awsome news Geg

Wish the best for your new baby girl and your family. It is amazzing how googley you get when you have a new baby. Enjoy every minute of it because they grow up too fast.

Man I have gotten about three different weather forcast for that area and none look good! I think I am gonna hang at the house and try to get some stuff done around here and mabey get things sittuated in my camper. I am camping Easter weekend Thurs thru- Sunday in Lancaster, PA with the family. So it looks like no HS for us untill Tomahawk on the 18th. Unless the weather changes this is my game plan

Mother nature is a beotch

Posted by: seatec

Yeah, i think it might be the best decision. Makes me feel like a whimp though.

Posted by: cletusEX

I'll probably still be going. I need all the practice I can get.

Posted by: cletusEX

The rain is supposed to stop Saturday morning. If it actually stops and we get some wind it won't be too hateful I hope. Maybe I'm just being optimistic because I wanna race so bad

Posted by: YLW400

Jrspawn, I am heading over to Seaford on SUnday as of now....Easton will be a mud pit with all of this rain....If it is raining today, chances are Easton will have standing water laying on it.......Seaford drains really well, so as long as it is done raining by tomorrow morning or so, it will be fine there.....

Posted by: seatec

I want to be optimistic as well. any of you got a utility quad with a winch so we can yank our quad out of the mud pit if we get stuck

Posted by: cletusEX

Screw using a 4x4 to pull us out, I think I need to find one to race!

Posted by: seatec

yup, the utility class sure sounds appealing right about now.

Posted by: cletusEX

A nice Praire 650 with some mods would definitely come in handy during times like this. The only good thing is if you run a good clean race (not getting stuck) you usually end up doing pretty good.

I think everybody's going to CHICKEN OUT you wimps LOL its going to be bad they will only run the woods I bet for the quads, the MX track will be impassable if it rains that day & Beasely if dont do much maitanace to get it ready.I remeber one race that was WET & or rep talked him into running the MX track & it was a disastor all but 4 people got stuck its was a mess,& the quads broke thirty some sprinkler heads off for his watering system by going of the main lines to get up the hills,he was pissed.I also got screwed on that race I had the vet class won & was second oveall behind dave reese on his 4x4 & they rerouted of the MX track while I was still on it & 2 guys in my class got way in front of me without even passing me,I should of protested but oh well thats mudd races.

Posted by: greghall

All kidding aside if its your first HS I would pick a race with better conditions, because it will realy riun your day if your not experianced in the mudd.

Posted by: seatec

Bummer about the re-route man. Your right though. protesting would've probably given you the win but you know who really won!

I'll forgive you about the Chicken comment.

We're not all the lightening fast float over the mud type or riders.
If it doesn't rain on Saturday and no rain is fore casted for Sunday then ill go.

Posted by: seatec

i could do what i did with the bike race and just wait at the mud holes and watch the good riders go through and pick their line.

I'm not worried about not doing well but just plain finishing the race. does it hold true for quads as well as for bikes that the key to mud is to ignore it and just fly through it unless of course there is an obvious deep rut that can flip you.

Posted by: greghall

The guy who won wa sguy guy who beat me by a few points for the year end awards it was only a few points but I got him the following year.

Posted by: greghall

Ruts will stick you every time I always stopped looked & went really wide into the woods sometimes, dont blast through that can be a mistake if there's a deep hole or rut under there.Watch to see how the guys in front get through but dont wait to long but think about every move & line, keep alot of momentim up all the time.

Posted by: seatec

yep

ah man!!!! oh well. gotta start somewhere i guess.
Pappy, think i should go down one on the counter sprocket for tight trails?

Posted by: greghall

Hey Pappy Im going to be there so you can get some high Qaulity pictures of me racing .All those years I raced I dont have many good pics of me,now I have a sharp 450R & need some pics.

Posted by: Pappy

i didnt have any problems running that course with stock gearing. i dont know how fast you hit rocks..stumps..so i cant say. it wouldnt hurt anything i guess

BTW. remember that one little but very muddy and steep climb out of the stream? well, youll be har pressed to take it on the left. we had to go to the right option on that one.

Yeah if this rain stops Sometime Saturday, I think Budds will be ok. I agree Budds is tough when it is wet, but Tomahawk is tough anytime. Not trying to scare off anybody from Tomahawk because it's an awesome HS track. I don't think there is a perfect track for someone to start racing, you gotta just go out there and run a couple to get the feel. By the way my first was at Antietam and that track had some rocky sections. I didn't finish real high but I did finish.

I will most likely be at Budds. It all depends on if the 3 other guys I race with decide to go.

Posted by: Pappy

I think Tomahawk maybe an ideal track for someone's first race. Its not that hard, its open enough that you can pull over and let a faster ride pass. The mx section is not only fun but doable for even a beginer and the quad turn out isnt so large that you will feel intimidated

Posted by: cletusEX

I'm not trying to take anything away from Tomahawk because it is one of my favorite tracks that D-7 runs. I was just saying that with all the rocks the faster you go the smoother it is. For somebody that is first starting to race if they get tired it can be a little rough on them.

Posted by: seatec

It's indeed a little harder to pull over at Budd's with a quads. bikes have plenty of room.

Ill see what the weather does and make my decision tomorrow.
The thing I'm a little worried about is that i wont be going with anybody (directly) that could help me get my quad out of the mud if(when) i get it stuck. that would suck having to beg to some guys to come and help me out 2 miles into the loop.

Posted by: cletusEX

Budds has more room to pull off than Tomahawk does.

I have not seen a quad get stuck enough to have to have another quad pull them out. Usually it is just a matter of picking up the rear end and moving it. It justs sucks all the energy out of you during a race to have to get off your quad.

Most people I've met at the races would be more than willing to help someone get their quad out of the woods.

Posted by: cletusEX

Unless all my buddies decide not to go, I'll be there and give you hand if you need one.

Posted by: jrspawn

Hey, i guess im not going to easton then , ill either try seaford out, or more than likely ill be at blue diamond, it normally dries out real good there. I guess im just gonna play it by ear really, go wherever the least water and mud is.

Anteitam was tough to get dialed in I did well there when I got the hang of it.Hey cletusEX did you ever race Cliffside that was a TUFF race,10 TO 12 MILES OF ROCKS & they had a iron man 100 race for the finalley one year I was on the bike for 3hrs 50min. I finished 3rd over all & only 4 riders finished the race I clocked around 70 or so miles.

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

Hey guys,
Man I am getting ancy to ride!! I took the green machine out to the driveway and gave her a superbath tonight. I wanted to get it as clean as possible to take some pics tommorrow and also wanted to grease it up as much as possible to keep the mud from sticking if I do race on Sunday.

What is better to use... Armour All or Wd/40 or is there something betterout there???

Oh my buddy Jim called budds this evening and the race is still on at this point...just an FYI

Posted by: greghall

Eric it dont matter Budds Creek mudd is like cement its tuff to get off & really wears the brakes out.The best bet is to wash it as soon as you can while its still wet dont let it dry,it will take twice as long to clean when it dries up.I use WD40 but some guys use Pam (spray cooking oil).

Posted by: Pappy

I raced my first race at Antietam wayyyyy back in the day on a LT500. I actually did great, grabbed the holeshot and was first to the woods. Thats where things got real bad real fast the 500 was too wide to fit between the first 2 tree's I came to, and damn near the entire field got by me. i worked my way back to close to the leaders and on the last lap he wrecked causing a bottle neck at the rock wall. I was prolly in 4th at the time when I decided to go around the wall and shoot up the side of it. Worked great and I was in 1st .....for about 300 yards Back then all I could afford was turf tamers and by ripping it up thru those rocks I ate the sidewalls out of both rears I still took 5th but I had it won!

live and learn I geuss

Posted by: greghall

Pappy how long ago was that, around 1997 thats when I started racing & rember some LT500 up there & getting hung in the tight trees man how did ever get through there with a LT500.

Posted by: Pappy

1997 try more like 1987

i had never given width a thought...i just wanted to race. I got thru it ok, i just had to make new lines or slow down sometimes. The one straight-away was mine i would start yelling and just pass anything i loved my LT

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

Ahhh the Quadzilla. man I wish I had one of those and a wide open cornfield that was one bad *** quad

Posted by: greghall

Yeah I think those LT500's are still the fastest quads ever made for straight line acceleration,I was like 19 in 1987 & ripping it up on my ATC250R I only wish I started racing back then instead of getting into drag racing cars which took me broke.

Posted by: Pappy

yeah field riding was a blast on the zilla

Posted by: cletusEX

Greg, no I never ran Cliffside, but I've heard plenty of stories. I've only been racing for just over a year. The only time I ran Antietan was the last rast they had there. I wish that track had stayed open, it wasn't to far away and was a nice track.

Posted by: cletusEX

Oh yeah and congrats on the baby!

Posted by: Ericthered rdr

well the rain stopped! now we need sun and wind.

hope budds can get the track dried out. I want to race
