Make sure you all bring plenty of gloves. Nothing worse than trying to hold on when you have wet muddy gloves on. I think we'll be pulling out of here between 8-9 so we should be up there by 11:00. I think it is going to be a muddy mess up there but it should be a good time.

yea all we talk about is where NOT to ride.

The directions for that track are...PA turnpike to exit 13, 522 North, right 641 East, right Decorum Road- 1 mile on left. You can also take the exit before that and go over the last mtn. the closest town is Neelyton Pa. its pretty easy to find.
greg, these are the directions that I used to get there last year. If I remember correctly, the exit #s are a little screwy. I think they have changed in the last few years so an older map might have different numbers on the exits?????? or the directions that I have given could be wrong. Anyway, the map will show you the 522 and 641 routes and you can go from there. We actually took a different exit and ended up going over the mountain instead of going thru the tunnel and back tracking. I think we'll do the same this time. bring dem boots!

A muddy mess it was but I had a great time. The people who run fotm were super nice and helpful. I got plenty of help with my boys during there race(and I needed it!) I had a bad race and still got a third place finish (better than I thought I did). Thanks Doug for helping with the boys. So how did everyone else do?
Posted by: greghall
That's cool eric did you get a trophy?Had a alright time I don't feel to bad THAT WAS A ROCKY mess I gave up after the third lap & just rode around the track,I had to stand up & go faster because it was harder going slow
Posted by: seatec
Glad you guys had a good time. wish i could've been there. Next time i guess. Eric. Congrats on your 3rd place.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Thanks Anthony and Greg I did get a trophy too. It was great for the boys because thats all they wanted was to come home with trophies and we did. I need to get a picture of us three next to them. I am glad I didn't get first place those 5 foot trophies were huge. My buddy Jim had to lug one of those home. He got first place in bike vet. Major props to the sponsor of that race for puting up such nice trophies. My kids will remember that place forever. (so will my poor back)
Posted by: greghall
That's great Eric can't wait to get my kids into it,looks like more fun than racing yourself.Man that was a tuff course but I feel pretty good today, the winner of the C class I think passed mey on the 3rd lap he was rolling.Man Chris Borich is FAAAAST totaly unbeliveable how fast he can ride on that stuff
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Who won overall and where did Andy come in?
Anthony you missed a good race course it was like Tomahawk but muddy, very muddy and more rocks. It was tough but it was not to much of one or the other. You would hit some mud than a rock section then a fast section, it was a great mix. I am looking forward to racing there again.
Posted by: greghall
as soon as you hit the woods it was rock, rocks under the mudd, rocks everywhere, but I've raced chit like that before,Andy got 3rd,herzt got 2nd,Borich took first by a super long lead.Borich lapped me twice!!
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
how many laps did you do greg? I did 6
Posted by: greghall
I did six too I think I was one of the first to get cut off, thank god,I think if I would of pushed the last two laps I could have did 7 but nobody was catching me & I was'nt catching anybodt else so I took it easy the last two laps.I hate feeling like crap when I push myself over my limits, thank god it was cool out!Do you think its worth going to the dis. 7 meeting I don't think so we can try to get the results from Tomahawk, she did have the results posted at the race I seen them I was in 9 with 1 race, you were 12th,I should be in the top 5 now if all the raced were up to date.

I might. I am getting ready to go out and clean all of our stuff. I am glad I am off today. I am working 4 day work weeks this summer. BTW when I got home I fired up his quad and it ran fine I just think he over heated the clutch. He got stuck on a hill and instead of letting off the throttle and drifting back down to take another shot he just sat there with the throttle pegged for about five mins.

wow it took forever to get my quad clean. I suffered some minor damadge... I wasted my rear skid plate but at least I got to take mine home to be scrapped. I saw two skids out on the track yesterday. Tommy's clutch is good but he has an air leak between the carb and manifold. Danny's bike cam loose on the way home and the rear bounced into my footpeg breaking his rear brake arm and my heal guard. Looks like Danny might get a disk brake setup and I am gettting a heavy duty PRM skid plate.
Seatec I wish i could make it over to Easton but I am going camping in Gettysburg with the family this weekend.

Anyone going to the Petersburg GNCC this weekend? Myself, Nick, Dan and Brian will all be there.
Posted by: cletusEX
That might have been the muddiest race yet. There was a good 2 inches of mud caked on everything. I just cleaned the bike up and looked it over a little and so far haven't seen any damage. Even though i didn't do well I still had a good time. I had some good battles during the race (i think they were c riders but oh well) but just kept getting stuck. I got razr 2 fronts that need to go on. Those holeshots don't do too well in the mud, but I'll be ready for VA. Like always it's nice seeing everyone again.

Haha, I got ya!

OH MY BACK
I feel like I got hit by a Mack truck....I was O.K. today but this evening, my back and legs are SMOKIN. That was quite a rough track...the slower you went the rougher it was....the faster you went the harder it was to hold on
I was surprised at my 5th place finish in the B class...after getting hung up on the first lap...yes that was me that got stuck right in the same tree that had another guy hung up right before me
what an idiot I was....actually my tires just happened to take the ruts he left behind...what a mess. So, the rest of the day I was playing catch up. My skid plate broke in half somewhere around mid-way and would de-rail the chain a couple of times per lap...that sucked! I still just tried to stay on the gas and hang on. I think I definately need a new swingarm now...the raised area where the two rear bolt holes for the skid plate are broken off. I can't see any other way to get a skid plate to mount without having nuts welded on
Does the E-ton guy sell parts? I need a gas cap for my sons 50cc.
Eric, your welcome! I think the kids racing is the coolest. My 6 yr old just doesn't have the willpower to actually race, he gets real nervous in a situation like that. He is starting to come out of it so maybe next year!...later...I hear the hottub calling

me again
...hey Nick, thank Brian for the tie rod. I'm sure the one that was on it would have bent more in that rough stuff. It was a life saver. Do you guys have any stock swing arms with a good skid plate hanging around
If so, I am in the market for one. Can you believe some of those guys raced both days? Can you imagine running that track on a bike
all that mud and those hidden rocks
I'd still be on my first lap if I ran a bike there
I'm on the fence about Va. GNCC
later again

No problem about the tie rod. That's why we bring all our extra parts. I don't think we have any stock swingarms laying around but a guy on here said he had one in good shape and he was in Baltimore. I think his name was RUTHLESS. You might be able to pm him and find one. I also don't know how the bike guys made it through that track it was pretty nasty. It seems like all we race on(except budds creek) are rocks.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
I took the first lap very slow to scope out the course and save energy as a new strategy but what I realized was the rocks beat me to death so once again I had a bad plan. The second and third laps were wasted by my fuel line vent hose coming out of the holder and getting clogged with mud and I got hung up in that long deep rut that everyone was getting stick in. The third lap I was doing great then I picked a bad line and went left into a huge rut and could not get the quad out until some other guy stopped to help me. I don't have any Idea what I was thinking because the straight line was clear and fast. After that I was haulin *** and started floating on top of the rough sections hence the wasted skid plate. I really learned a lot from this race. This is going to be a long strech for me with no riding. I am camping this weekend then I am leaving the following weekend for a week long fishing trip with my dad. I probly wont get to throw a leg over this thing for at least a month. I might have to do a weekday trip somewhere with the little guys. I am still worked up from FOTM it was a blast. I enjoyed hanging out with you all.

Anthony that is a good question that has a bad answer! I would recomend a 250EX but the libs recomend that the kid be 16 before getting on such a machine. Anyway they dont make a good inbetween quad for that age group. The kids are kinda forced into an adult quad. If the kid has clutch skills I would go for a blaster. Bone stock they are great for kids then when they get a year or two of experience a pipe and reeds turns that thing into a fun and quick little quad. I know a couple of people that are selling nice blasters. I think new they are $3100. Did you get a knock on the door from a kid that called you daddy?

The e-ton viper is getting very popular. The list of mods for that thing could set you back a new 450r. I was at sugar hill and a guy came in with a new one for his kid and I was impressed with it. I really like the polaris 90 preditor but damn that thing is expensive compared to the viper. I just wish they had these things when I was a kid. I am having flashbacks of the old ATC110 with no suspension and how many times that thing rolled on top of me with no helmet or chest protector

$2050 is a great price if it is out the door. I will keep an eye out on an xr50 for you. Man they are fun to ride. I can't wait till Danny outgrows it so I can do an 88 kit and bars.
I got a call from Jay at Tomahawk and he said that Bruce sent out the results to somebody. I am waiting for him to call back after he finds out who. I talked to Walt from FOTM for about a half hour today about the race and how f'ed up things are with D-7 and the lack of intrest from the board with the HS series. Are you gonna go tonight or are you waiting to hear from Karen after the meeting. What should we do??? I am not sure going is gonna get us any results from the people I talked to. There are some big heads and stubborn ways in that board from what I am told. I just want to see a c class started and some representation from the board with intrest in the HS series.
Posted by: cletusEX
Let me know how things with Tomahawk go. Brian used to race with a guy who helps up there, so maybe we can try and get a hold of him and see if he knows anything. Karen said something about them maybe not having them at all so lets all hope someone comes up with the points. It's like trying to get info out of 3rd graders. No one know who gave what to whom.

Eric I was'nt going to go after talking to Karen,I've already got something to do tonight areyou going? It would'nt be a bad Idea for you to go.You do have a way with people

**** dirt first man, I call the guy up for a swing arm nut and bolt, he tells me 22 bucks for the bolt and 18 for the nut, I thought thats outrageous but i had no choice, so i go up there, he bumps it to 32 bucks for the bolt aned 22 for the nut! i bought the bolt because i only had enough money for it. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! If I got it from Team Machine it would have been half that (also would have taken a week or so) Im gonna try metric fasteners and a&a bolt and screw tomorrow. If alban carried sizes this big it would be about 2 bucks for the bolt and 40 cents for the nut. B/S!

I talked to some ******* kid, its just a regular nut and bolt.
I talked to Norm from team machine, he said you wont get banged on freight or shipping fees, its a straight up deal, and the first service is free. They're up petes for a little over 2k and then they get you for freight, shipping, titleing....

Dude relax. that is not a bad price for a chrome molly bolt and nut I have seen them on websites for more. The list price for an OEM bolt is $23.86 so you figure a better on is only gonna cost more. Now the nut is a different story, OEM is $3.20. Here is a good reference, hope it helps
Parts
Oh that ******* kid is Brett he is an A- class MC rider in the HS series. I think he is in the top three in the district. You ran into the same problem most all of us run into. Unless you are a regular in a local shop you pay list or worse. Thats why I only shop Mid atlantic cycles and Dirt First.

ITS a Regular (oem) bolt, NOT chromoly, its b/s if I knew it was gonna be this much I would have ordered it from my neighbor

Im gonna return it tomorrow, IM gonna say my reason is because it was 50% more then everywhere else. I can get the nut off of boltdepot.com for 46 cents, im gonna get a few of those and a bunch of other bolts and nuts so shipping wont be ridiculous.
Posted by: cletusEX
Expect to pay a good bit more for any part that's in stock. Not just at Dirt First but any shop in general. That's why I always order my OEM parts from Sevice Honda or Troy. A lot of aftermarket parts can be directly ordered from the manufacturer. I've found that if you talk to the manufacturer and tell them you race you get a pretty good deal. It sucks when you need something asap but I can't stand paying up to twice as much for simply parts.

Just my two cents, do you realy think common metal rounds stock is going to hold up to the abuse that the swing arm bolt takes. I would order the chromoly bolt from Baldwin Motorsports.

the damn damadge report from Sunday keeps growing.... I thought that Tomm'y handle bars were the only thing that moved...well the stem bent when he rolled down the hill. A new stocker is $68.00 but I wonder if Roll makes one in crome
BTW Greg when you are ready to pull that LT50 out for the kiddo let me know I have found a ton of info on it in the past couple of days. I pulled another huge restrictor out of the intake manifold last night and ported it too while I was in there
It did make an improvement but it still needs more power
I think a pipe is comming
Posted by: greghall
Yeah man I heard about the restrictor in the pipe & intake, the clutch I think would need the most mods,I'm really leaning toward the E-ton that bike does look pretty shape & has alot of good fetures that the Honda does'nt have.Eric are you going to the Wisp or is that when your going fishing?

WHen is the Wisp???? end of July????

Posted by: Pappy
the eton is better suited for racing IMO. it can be modded much further for less then the honda, it out handles the honda and is faster. the eton hydrolic brakes are a huge benefit along with the 2 stroke hit.
my boy wanted a shifter quad so the honda will get the duty of haulin his arse around

You got me thinking now Pappy.Got any recent pics?

Hey guys, question for ya. Kids KX60 sucked a case seal the other night and blew the crank. Well it started scoring the piston before we shut it off. Am getting ready to rebuild it but im trying to save some cash right now cause things are tight. Do any of you guys know if I can hone a nikasil bore so i can just throw in a new piston kit and crank? It has a couple slight marks on the bore but I thought it might be able to hone it out. I really dont have the cash for a sleeve or get it re-nikasiled. I hate cheaping out but its that or hes going to have to not ride for a month or two(and this is prime riding) cause I dont have the extra money.
Thanks,
Tom
Posted by: greghall
You can't hone a chrome cylinder but if its not scrachted that bad just put on a new ring & piston, its should be ok also check for cracks.
Posted by: checkster
its not chrome.........its like molybendellum or some **** like that. the coating looks pretty thick and had hone marks on it when i took it out of the box new.

Eric looks like your right the kids can't race a 90 till they are 9,8 in the Koonzt series, but the E-ton 70 is legal,50 to 70 cc is for 5-9 year old kids, that is the only bike that fits most kids.

51-70cc Production 6-11 Years Old= district 6
if your boy boy is 7 definately go for the e-ton 70 since you can turn it into a 90 for real cheap!
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Greg, I talked to John from miniatv.com and he says wait for the '05 Kasea 50. He claims it will do 37mph right out of the box. He also said with the 70cc stroker kit it will wip up on most all 90cc modified quads. He told me that the 50 is neck and neck with a stock LT80...yes 80 and if it does not perform as advertised he will refund the money. The '05s will be out in a few more weeks. I am not ready to jump on one yet but if we buy one at the same time we can get a good deal on them.

Who sells them around here?Did he say anything about th E-tons?

he is a dealer for both and he said the e-tons are prone to frame issues and the Kasea is faster. both offer the same reliability but he said if you are planning on letting the kids race andare limitted to a stock 50cc class then the kasea will outrun any other stock quad or your money back. I know what I am getting!!! (well Tommy is getting)

Eric I don't like the looks of the Kasea, its got a cheap look,The E-ton viper 70 may be better for my needs,Also I found out who makes the predator for porlaris Aeon makes them.I think all the engines are very similar, all are made in Taiwan.

Yeah, I still have it....I have got quite a few low ball offers, but I would give a fellow Marylander a good deal on it.
After they post the D-7 point standings, I am going to see where I am in the 2 stroke class and maybe wipe the dust off it and take it out.
Posted by: greghall
I'm sure you are in first, the only 2 stroke I seen
We are suppose to have a C class now,A,vet,B.C but I don't know what that means for the points.I know I have 54pts.in B class I'm making sure I have mine kept.
Posted by: 250RXCrider
I had all my points written down, but when I changed class I lost track. Is the new class schedule in effect or was FOTM a test run. If they change the class structure, then I wonder if I get my 2 stroke points in the new B class?
Posted by: greghall
I don't know about that she said C class would not pay end of year points this year. And then it would be unfair to transfer your 2 stroke points to B ,they would be more than if you competed in 4str. B because I know they were proply 2nd or 3rd or what ever ,you actually were'nt racing 4str. B,She said this was a proplem with people wanting to carry points over to another class & would'nt be aloud.
Posted by: 250RXCrider
That sounds fair, but I think she would have been better to make the class changes specifically open B at the begining of the next season

I got second on the holeshot but picked him off when we got into the woods. I ran behind Nick almost the whole first lap. Damn slowpoke wouldn't get out out of my way
No actually he let me pass in the grass section the he passed me when we were headed for the woods. I really liked that race for some reason. Mabey because I am getting back in shape and don't feel like I am dying on the last lap
BTW that is me in the pic

I'll just have to put you to school on block passing

Posted by: 400exvet
greg, I see what you mean about the need for a 13 tooth front sprocket on the 450. It doesn't want to lug around at low speeds without feathering the clutch. But, DAMN that thing flies
I was trying to find Dirtfirst's website. Is there one? Can you order from it? I need to get skids and a twist throttle before I can think about racing it. I've been running a twist for so long, I feel like a goober with that thumb throttle. I can't hang on right or turn right...I like to killed myself the other day in the field, I haven't tried it in the woods yet.

Doug, dirtfirstracing.com is there web site but call down there at 410-686-9693 Andy should have everything in stock you need for that bike,You will be able to lug that thing with a 13T on the front.I did'nt know you were a twisted man them things take some time getting use to.I had one on my Banshee it would get you in trouble once and awile when you had to hold on & pulled it full throttle
Posted by: greghall
Try to talk to Andy or Brett & tell them that you race all the HS in the area he may give you some good prices!
Posted by: seatec
Greg. i think thats a good idea. maybe we can get the truck filled with 4 guys and all go up. I'm sure the truck would welcome some hard labor for a change. lol
Posted by: kwatts400
Seatec, are you still going to Easton this Sunday? I think I'm going to be able to make it finally.
Posted by: seatec
kwatts. i am certainly going to try my damndest. I have to do some stuff to th quad for the MX track like change the wheels and tires and maybe thorw the stock shocks on and remove skid plates and stuff.

The trailer will only fit two quads but we can pile them up in the truck bed
Let me know if you want to go the race is the 26th on a saturday, would have to leave real early.Race is at 11am.
Posted by: seatec
well, we see what we can do with the quads. I dont mind leaving early but wont promise anything until we closer to the actually date. I don't forsee a problem though. Maybe we can persuade RTSE440 to come as well. the whisp is a lot of high speed stuffright? nothing to rough?!
Posted by: greghall
High speed on the ski slopes but very rockey in the woods, shoul'nt be that bad its suppose to be a good XC course.I need to see if every thing is a go to closer to the date anything can happen with me too.
Posted by: seatec
Yeah, you have the added complication of a new born and wife with hormones all scrambled up. hehe
Posted by: RTSE440
Easton.....This Sunday.....I'm there
Looking forward to some VERY light MXing.
Gotta take off all this XC stuff off my quad too. Quiet core is definately comming out as well. I won't be fast , but I'll sound fast.
Posted by: 250rmike
ill try to make easton sunday since i cant go to the va race on sat. what kind of bike will you be riding if i can get there. ill be on a white z400 with some nerfs on it. ill be in a black tahoe.
Posted by: RTSE440
I'll be the slowest guy on a blue YFZ450...no lights...nerfs, AC bumper, polished HMF slip-on, white Cycra handguards. I'll be riding with seatec...he's got a white YFZ450 with K&K flame graphics. I'm driving a black and silver Dodge Ram . We usually get there pretty early. Hope to see you there.

put some picts. up in the local shops and run an add...it will go quick for $1250 if it is like new then $1400 is not a bad starting point.
