I'm racing the C 16-24 class and my bro Dan is racing the C 25-31 class along with Brian (white yfz) and James (250rxcrider). We are all going up Friday some time and staying in a hotel Fri night. Yeah all you need is an AMA card. Signup starts at 8 am on Sat and is from 5-7pm on Friday evening. I want to get up there as early as possible because I've heard tech takes a while with them checking exhausts. It should be a good race!

Ahhhrrr very long days at work this week setting up for the preakness event. I am trying to head up to Raush on Friday night with the pop-up and the boys. I still need to talk to the wife some more and I need to talk to Seatec because I can't take the pop-up but not the quad a the same time so I will see what happens. Either way I am not racing this weekend I have not had a chance to do the things I want to do to the quad to race it. Looks like good weather.
Posted by: seatec
I am on the fence. I am pretty sure i dont want to go on friday but was contemplating Saturday or Sunday. THat doesnt help you any though concerning the Quad.
I got it. put the pop up on the trailer together with the quad. lol

If you guys are going you need to watch the race, you will really miss out if you don't watch,it's amazing to watch the pros do what they do.

Hi guys got a question. Is sugar hill patrolled by cops? I heard things, but I also know that a lot of Jeeps go back. I want to know if it is still safe to ride there.

i
ve heard that cops have been there and have told people to never return, but everyone here has never had a problem. I dont know for sure but I know harford country isnt that strict on illegal use of atv's... YET.
Posted by: greghall
Everybody that rides SH here always goes early in the morning rides a few hours & leaves before all the idiots get therein the afternoon.
Posted by: seatec
Yup, its pretty safe to ride from 8 to 11 or 12. after that chaos breaks out and its a free for all. You could get t-boned at any given moment. Luckily hardly anybody goes back into the woods and there you're relatively safe.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
looks like I can only go to Rausch on Saturday now. Seatec I will call you today to see what your plans are. I want to take my boys to see the pros then go to Rausch and ride for a while and see some of the EXriders gang.
Posted by: seatec
Eric, Saturday would be good for me if i can get my ***** in gear and do the required maintenance on my quad. I'm goign to put the mobile red cap 10w40 and a new Filter. i hope my HMF pipe will come in before friday so i put that one for Rausch.
Also have to put the new sprockets on that came in yesterday. I tell, ya, the steel counter sprockets is made well but the aluminum rear sux. it has some embedded casting flawes and stuff. ill show you what i mean.

Seatec why did you get a alloy rear that will wear out in no time at all you should have gotten steel rear. All XC riders use steel front & rear.
Posted by: seatec
I wanted to but nobody had the 37 for the YFZ in stock. i will replace the Alloy with steel as soon as i can get one.
Posted by: greghall
I,ve had alloy bend when something would get caught up in the wheel on dirt bikes,I would only ride MX or easy stuff,XC to much chit can bend the sprocket,What was your gearing before? If you changed -1 in front & +1 in rear that wont make a big difference.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
And I thought Seatec only bought the best of the best I am surprised he didn't order titanium
Had to have fun with you bud. I expect you to run on Sat and I will film you. I have my carb torn down waiting on parts from Alba I hope they get here by Friday.

Greg, i went down one in the front and down 1 in the back so -1 -1. I wanted to go up 2 in the rear but the PRM skid wont allow it so this is the next best thing.
Eric, i dont know about titanium. the chain is the most expensive part of the final drive and id rather waer the sprockets out than the chain.
Harlen, we will be seeing you there !
Posted by: greghall
Yeah that should be good smaller in the rear will give the skid more clearence,Hey guys pick me up some EXRiders stickers if you can get some I'm good for it.Maybe Harlen will give some out WISH I could go!!!!

I got them from the QUADSHOP but they don't usually have them in stock and order them from Hiper. You get nor price break so you might as well order them straight from Hiper.

I saw a kid that couldnt have been more then 10 driving a polaris 500HO I couldnt help but say something to the parents. Wasnt it something like 70% of all atv fatalities are from -16 yo kids driving quads that were too big for them to handle.

Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Hey looking forward to seeing the D&B rig.
Seatec I was headed up I83 today and saw the Western run overpass. I think I saw an access on the northbound side. Anywho that is a wide creek!
Posted by: seatec
be seeing you D&B. Eric yup i scouted that access point already with the Grizzly.
Posted by: RTSE440
Thanks for the compliments guys
. This set-up is going to take some getting used to. I hate change...just ask Seatec. I feel like I'm not sure where this thing is going to go. Almost TOO much traction at the rear. I gotta change, ( there's that word again), the way I ride. The rear tires are the new Holeshot HDs and fronts are XCRs that I had left over from the Z400. I didn't realize just how much "extra" suspension I was getting from the stock tires. I now feel every bump. The wheels are Burgards...VERY well made and cheap...$115.00 per wheel, and the guys there are great to deal with.
As far as racing...not for a while. After a 20 min. ride through my trails, my shoulder was killing me. It's gonna be awhile before I try to tackle a real race.
I'll be getting rid of those red covers on my lights.... I can't have all the cicadas chasing me around

If I had had someone with me, I think I would have tried to cross it this evening, with the YFZ. It's been hot and dry for awhile...stream was "slower and lower" than it was last weekend when Seatec cross on the Grizz.

Wish I could make it up there for the ride this weekend, but as usual, I will be working all weekend (boating season on the Sassafras river has started). I almost had my schedule switched to have Sunday off. One of these days I'll make a ride and get to meet you guys. A friend of mine wants to try and make the fall Hatfield ride, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that one. Good luck to everyone that is going to race this weekend, I'm jealous!

I believe the gameplan is for Seatec, me and my boys to head up to rausch in the morn sometime to watch the GNCC race then ride at the track... I think this is the Idea if not then we are just riding??? I need to talk to the man himself. He is driving so he is in control
I guess the answer is not to sure bud!
Posted by: seatec
Sounds ok to me. Wanna get soe footage of the race (am).
Eric, one thing though. We are having some issues with our phone system. old option11C POS. Trying to get new boards in amd pop them in ASAP. There is a very slight but real possiblitity that this could become a sturday job and my guys don't know much about this phone system so i am it. No delegation for this one. So be prepared and tentatively reserv your dads truck.
Sorry i cant be more final on this but you know how it goes.

If you do have to work you need to give me a goodies list of things you want...shirts,stickers ect.ect. OK guys let me know what happened at Rousch today!!
Posted by: chucked
today wasnt a good day to ride in b'more county... Freekin officer kirby. Hes a god damn *******, It doesnt matter what you got he will still try and find something to get u for. I had my tag on, the owner of the property I was riding on was riding his land rover today and he was there... This GUY WTF!!! DAMNIT!!!!! I WAS FREEKIN LEGAL, and could you guess it? YEA HE HAD HIS GUN IN MY FACE AGAIN!!!!! I couldnt think of anything I was doing that was illegal. He tried doing sayin I had an undesignated vehicle in an undesignated area, THE GUY THAT OWNS IT RIDES FREEKIN LAND ROVERS AROUND IN TRAILS HE MADE WITH A SKID STEER. Then he tried saying he saw my tire tracks over on BGE's coal ash hill, when they were obviously mud-lites and I have spider tracs. He also told me police were up sugar hill busting people today, he claims he lives a few blocks away from it.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Long hot day at the races. It was awsome! Me and the boys didn't get there till 12p but we did get to see the second race. It was so friggin dusty. After the race I took the kids over to the track and let them ride till dark. D&B were there. I must say that thier new camper is....wow! I am exausted from the heat, walking, kids being kids, and a white knuckled ride home in some nasty storms. I should be on here Sun with some stories. All I can say was alot of stuff was broken today and the GNCC Master still is the one to beat!
Oh Chucked you need to start riding at the races with us and get away from riding in Bmore county.
Posted by: DoctorRags
Well, once again bad luck strike again. I raced the 4 Stroke C 25-32 class yesterday and finished 12th in my class. I was running in 3rd or 4th place the last lap and my quad just died. I have no idea what happened. I would kick it over and it would start, then bog down and die when I hit the gas. I had to let it sit for a minute then it started right up and away we went. After that I was so pissed, I missed an arrow and started going down the wrong trails and got lost for about 2 or 3 minutes. I thought I was going to spend the day in the woods because I was running low on gas and had no clue where I was. Luckily I was able to back track and found a course official, who wasn't work a damn. He just looked at me blankly when I asked where the course was, and never actually said anything, he just pointed in the opposite direction. What an a**hole...Anyways, this cost me about 8 positions, and I ended in 12th place. I want to see the lap times so I can figure out what place I was running on the last lap. Another guy in our camp finished 5th and I was ahead of him. But, that's racing...
I'll let the rest of the riders in our camp tell their own story. All in all, it was a good track (lot's of rocks) and a great day of racing. I am hurting this morning...also, I'm afraid to look at my skidplates.

If only my 4 wheeler would fit in the back of my neon...
Posted by: 400exvette
mornin' all! I ended up 8th in the 33+ class. Which I am happy with considering some of the excuses I have
#1 no clutch after lap 1, #2 no skid plate after lap 2, #3 wasn't sure about the gas....I missed my pit on the 3rd lap where I was supposed to stop and get 1 gallon just to make sure...I am gonna check this morning to see how many ounces are left. I hate excuses but they do make for a better story huh? I really was just happy to finish that one. I stalled a couple of times and hit two trees. I only had to get off the quad on the one tree....it really got me
..the other one just kicked back the bars to make for a nice forearm bruise/ lump. All in all it was a tough course...I was trying to go fast but also trying to protect the quad and me at the same time. Tire balls and really good skids definately allowed those guys to fly through some of those sections without worrying. I loved the skids plates that littered the track. We will soon see 100 used skid plates on E-Bay. I'm gonna look for mine
I was a little late getting there and I wanted to pit with Nick and Dan and y'all but I didn't have time to look. Eric, I looked around for you but that was like lookin for a needle in a hay stack! I had my truck without the trailer and was pitted to the right, down at the bottom by the ponds. Later my coffee is getting cold!

well I think harbor freight carries some of those 4'x8' trailors at the store, I might give it a couple weeks so I can get some money together, get my top end redone and go ahead and get a trailor and hitch.

GOD JOB GUYS!!! Thats why I stayed home I knew it was going to be hot dusty & rocky, but still would have liked to have gone
maybe Wisp will be better for everybody.

i share that sentiment.
Posted by: cletusEX
I ended up 22nd in my class and 111th overall. Not my best performance but I wasn't too disappointed. I'm still learning a whole bunch about racing. The course was brutal but sometimes those kinda races are the ones you learn the most from and also remember for a long time. I didn't do any major damage so it turned out to be a great weekend. I think Virginia is next on the GNCC schedule and I will definitly be there!
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Hey I am glad to hear that you guys finished the race. I know that there were a lot of DNF"s. I would have been absolutely thrilled to have finished because even some of the best didn't. Bill Ballance is on fire this year and I think that you could say the season is his if he stays healthy. You should see his race team in action....the best of everything right there! Hey Doug I know what you mean about the skid plates! I saw a guy in the afternoon with his chassis plate dagging under his swingarm and it souded horrible. I also heard of some serious injuries. Today a bike rider had his jaw split wide opn by a rock. Yesterday a guy wiped out hard and needed the services of the EMT's. Damn I even got hurt today goofing off on my friends XR100. My damn knees are shot! Well I had a good weekend with the boys. I wonder how things went up at Rausch Creek today? Harlen was up there but I am sure he wasn't riding. Nick he made Jim's and your hands from Tomahawk look like the hands from the Palmolive commercials! He took almost all of the skin off his right hand somehow! I sure hope he is left handed
Agian congrats to the D-7 guys for representing!

You cant tell what air he got by the bottoming of the suspension. cheer him on man!

Posted by: 250rmike
yea there were only a few quads there and the jumps wernt there best the landing had holes in em from the bikes and it was alittle rough there was a nice yfz450 with elkas and a bunch of other stuf and a raptor with axis adn long travel front end. i didnt see the raptor guy ride at all and the guy on the yami was only on the track alittle bit and really didnt jump much. oh yeah i landed the bigger double on the intermediate track alittle short and my ankles are kinda sore and i need new bars. i think its time to get some shocks.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr

YUP, LOTS! AUTOCAD, SOLID EDGE, UNIGRAPHICS,
PRO ENGINEER, AUTOPLANT, ETC.
Posted by: greghall
You high tech guys are making me feel stupid
I'm just a old grease monkey
Posted by: seatec
checkster. i used to teach AutoCad in the old country. Did some LiSP Programming as well. Does ACAD still support DIESEL?
Greg.; Don't feel bad. i don't know **** about engines. We do what we do and every ting takes experience and aptitude.
If you spend enough time with anything you can learn it all. besides. To me the computer is alike a Torque wrench. just a tool.
Posted by: checkster
DIESEL? lost you there. Anyway, ACAD has pretty much gone the way of the Dodo bird. Most of the other software is way better today. We just keep AutoCAD around for prosperity reasons.....LOL Shame though comsidering I used Acad for near 12 years.
Posted by: 250rmike
the nerfs worked great i straightened anything that was bent and my uncle welded em up good (athough he forgot to take one of the straps out and melted it but cant complain got it done for free). thanks for the great deal and hope to ride with ya soon. im gonna start racing soon as i get a few more things and some more seat time. whens the next hare scramble i might have to come
Posted by: seatec
Man, all the old software is on its way out. I remember using Acad, Arcos,Arkey, Microstation INtergraph and MIcroCadam. I feel like a dinsosaur. lol
I remember when Acad finally came out with solids.

The next race is on 6/6 at Foot of the mountain. I think you and your dad should come out and race. If not just watch so you know what to expect when you do. Although you already know what you are getting into. Didn't you run Wisp last year on the Polaris?
Seatec I didn't score any shirts for you the only one I saw that I like was from Harlen. I did get a shirt and a couple of stickers from him but I was dissapointed at the souvenier tents at the race.

Any of you thinking of running the IronBoss race at Tomahawk? There are probably going to be some fast teams(due to the payout) but it still sounds like it might be a fun experience. I might need a team mate if I decide to do it.
Posted by: 250rmike
i cant make it the 6th cause i HAVE to work cause its my last day there before senior week and i cant really skip out on work. yea i raced wisp last year on the polaris. is there anywhere i can get a list of race dates? thanks and my dad doesnt race hell just watch and help out

Eric volentering the suzy for some thrashing?
Posted by: greghall
Cletus can you switch riders when ever you want?every lap if you want?
Posted by: cletusEX
Each rider uses their own bike and you switch every lap.
http://www.tomahawkmx.com/
Posted by: greghall
When they first posted that race they said only one bike two riders, they must have changed the rules a little, thats pretty good they are doing it that way gives you alot of time to rest.
Posted by: seatec
time to rest? with you? yeah like 10 minutes. lol not enough toime for me to recoup from a lap of balls to the wall racing. how long is the race?
Posted by: cletusEX
I think it's like 3 hours. they say quads start at 2 and the white flag will go out at like 4:20.
Posted by: greghall
I would like to do it but the honey do's are going to come first so I can have some race time in june, got to keep the wifie happy or I won't get any rub downs after the race
I did the IRON MAN AT CLIFF SIDE BY MYSELF & was on the bike for 3 hours 40 mins. that was a real race back then. And it was on my Banshee I raced in the begining!
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Man I really want to do this now that you can run two quads, but I know for sure that I can't convince the boss I need to run this one. I wonder how many quads are going to show up for the race?
Seatec did you run on your new sprockets yet? I just got done tinkering with my quad and noticed my clutch perch was broken and I had a bent bolt on my case saver!
Nick are any of your crew gonna run the race?
Posted by: seatec
Eric, no, i havent had a chance yet. im going to test my new setup this weekend. i also change the preload around a bit so my front end wont roll to much in the turns.
Posted by: cletusEX
I don't know if any of us are running it. I think Brian has plans for this weekend so my bro and James were talking about running it.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
I am going to have to get a new clutch perch and I might drop to a 13 front and 39 rear.
Posted by: 250RXCrider
If I can convince the wife I am in. Last weekend was Rausch Creek and the weekend before that was fishing on the bay. So if I don't start spending sometime at home my ***** is grass.

HAHA, you have to be joking. I think he might have finally bought a bed so maybe he is.
I'm all in for riding somewhere this weekend. I don't know what Brian's plans are, I thought he had plans or something. He is talking about parting out the 400ex so I put it in the for sale forum for him.

He bent the a arm on the YFZ, so he said if he rides this weekend it may be on the 400. I know he has something going on Saturday, but I think Sunday is cool, if not we can head somewhere else.

I am thinking the same thing, lets figure out something by the weekend, if you want to do a day trip up to Rausch I would need to go on Saturday. If Dan can't make it we could throw your small trailer behind my truck or your exploder and role up.

alright I'll see what Dan's plans are tomorrow and then we can figure everything out. He only has a few things to move in so it really shouldn't take him to long and I know he wants to ride.

I'll have to make it to this Sugar Hill place with you all one of these weekends. I just can't afford to get in any trouble right now. With my luck the first time I go out there the cops will nail me.

Posted by: seatec
Did i tell you guys that i almost killed myself loading the grizzly onto the truck? I was rolling the Grizz onto the truck wehn both my tail gate straps snapped. i was 3/4 ways up on the truckbed but the rear wheels where still on the tail gate. i had it in 2wd and the rtear wheels where slipping. Had to hold the brakes. Get off and then shift in neutral and push it up rest of the way. thats was a eye opener. I have no choice but to ride it up though since the damn things ways about 650 wet. i guess i could mount a winch or something. any ideas?
Posted by: pgregg85
I was told GM has a recall on the tailgate straps on some of the past couple years full size trucks. Check into it before you buy new ones.
Posted by: seatec
Paul, your right and i was aware of that but my dealer hasnt gotten enough straps in yet so i have to wait. the basterds are probably fitting them to their current truck inventory. ANyway, i am thinking about going with the hinged setup. i saw somebody who had like thse strips of metal with a hinge in the middle. it greatly increased the carrying capacity. Only thing is that you gotta make sure they are folding right or you damage the tail gate when closing.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
I suggest buying a winch for the grizz and mount a ring in the bed of the truck and just wich the quad up into the truck.
Posted by: seatec
Good idea. Given the fact that Steph almost had a heart attack when i told her about it she will probably go along with this. How devious are we. lol
Posted by: seatec
BTW, i dont know if i said it before but i am going for the record. i bent 2 bumpers on the YFZ and now have crushed the right side of the Grizz's bumper as well. lol

Wow what a cool day. I went up to a local shop to get some goodies for my quad and when I was there I noticed an XR50 all done up with some serious aftermarket goodies. Well I have been looking for one for my son Danny for awhile so I decided to go get the Bargannier on Checkster's recomendation. I looked through it and found two of them for sale. I called one of the guys and an hour later I had an '00 XR50 in the back of my truck! This thing is almost new. The guy had bought it for his son who doesn't live with him and the kid only rode it a couple of times, as a matter of fact he said it was only on its second tank of gas! I think I got a good deal for 700 bucks. I'll drain the gas clean the carb, change the oil and this thing is ready for action!

Anthony I am working on permision for us to go riding in forest hill on private land. We can set up a HS couse back there that would blow SH away. Trails are already cut we just need to mark them and make a loop. My buddy Chad that you met at SH is the one who has the connection. I'll keep you posted.

Hey, ill bring the grizz and plow the way if we have to. Or you come pick it up and do if i can't. That would be sweet though. YOu still have to see the trails over in Chris's neck of the woods. thats good stuff!
