Just run it at Budds, get it over with. After Budds it won't be as pretty and you won't have to worry about anything
Posted by: greghall
You can make your bike just as clean as it was it just takes time ,I hate the concrete mudd at budds that eats your brake pads in one race
But the weather may change it looks like scattered storms so we my have perfect conditions I like it a little wet.We all won't fall out from the heat if it rains
Posted by: 250RXCrider
I second the low temps, that heat was horrible at Tomahawk

We both ran wide open and I was suprised to see the YFZ was faster. I'd let him come out of the turns first, then I would run him down and pass him by the time we got about 3/4 of the way across the field
. I was pretty sore after that though. That's what trying to show off gets you....you'd think I'd learn. At the rate I'm going though...a few more weeks or so and I should be able to ride with you guys
. Can't wait!!

Glad to hear you are back in the saddle Chris. Man I can't wait till Sunday this is gonna be a blast. I am going fishing in the morning with my father. I am headed to breezy point in search of the big stripers. Are we all gonna park in the field on the left as you come in? That was a good spot. What is the latest the quads can sign up? Is it 11:00am?

Yeah a buddy of mine pulled in a nice 38" last Saturday south of the Choptank. The only fish they caught, but it was a nice one. I think I'll wait a little longer till they start getting them in the chum slicks. I don't care much for trolling.

The flats have been off lately becauseof the muddy water. I know some charter captains and they have had some awsome trips this week sometimes with six fish by 8am. The croakers are already here in the Pax river and some have been caught up to 22" My buddy larry nailed a 50 pounder this week. I only hope to catch a decent keeper. I will let you know how I did tommorrow night.
Posted by: greghall
I don't care for trolling either I like casting lures to them on light tackle my best is a 8 pounder at pooles island,I wanted a big cow on light tackle at the flats but maybe nexst year,I'll wait till they get into there summer pattern & catchem then after the bass bite slows down,Racing & fishing is all I do you can't have more fun than that... Eric are you going on a charter or private boat? They are running hot down the bay the last report I read. You should do well.
Posted by: seatec
Man, all you big game fisherman. Whatever happned to going after Bass or Crappy up at the Susquehanne(sp?)
We have a couple of small ponds that are starting to get active. A neighbor of mine just took out 5 medium bass at this one pond and a friend of mine did the same yesterday. I want me some of that Bass thumb. lol
I am praying to the gods that Santos was right and Fed-Ex delivers my shocks today. PLease,PLease,PLease,PLease!!!!
Posted by: greghall
What was the proplem with Santo's getting your shocks done, parts? If they don't get here you will be fine don't panic!!It won't make that much of a difference.
Posted by: YLW400
Yea, Cletus, I hate trolling too... I am heading out Sunday morning to Connelly, NY for the big dogs....Stripers up there on the Hudson RIver.....I will be sure to get some pics of this. This is supposedely one of the best Striped bass places to fish!!
Is Santo revalving your stockers Seatec??
Posted by: seatec
YEs, Santos is doing the Mellenium deal on my front and rear shock('s). He was waiting to get the right springs for my weight i guess. He called me wednesday that they where done and assured me that Fed Ex only takes two days from where he is to my door.
Greg, I know it is not the end of the world if i dont have them but i really want to race test the buggers.
YLW, We don't wanna hear those "THe one that got aaway" stories now when you get back
Posted by: YLW400
Awesome!!!!
Hopefully I'll have photo documentation!!!! lol
Posted by: Pappy
the reason the strippers are bigger out of the hudson is because they get to feed on all those fat mobsters thrown in the river.
the cheasepeake bay strippers just get the ocassional crackhead from baltimore

I never thought of that!

Nope, that would be me with the trick breather cap. Greg doesnt believe in bling.(he is the smart one. lol) Hey i say, if i cant ride fast (yet) i might as well look good. lol.
seatec, I found those little gas cap breather thingies at a place called Macicracing.com. They were $13.00 so I bought one. Thanks for lookin! Also, I asked a black guy here at work what BLING meant. He said "BLING BLING means shiny jewelry or Diamonds" I think of the cap breather more of a help than just looks. I hate twisting and untwisting that breather tube. I also didn't finish a race where I should have due to the breather tube being stuck in the steering stem, which was full of water. It will be easier to take off quickly if ever needed. I hope to get an oversize tank before the Rausch GNCC. I also fish a little for them stripers! I actually walk across the field from my house and fish the beach of the elk river. Right where the canal starts. I hate getting the really big ones because they are so hard to drag home
I really can't wait for them there blueclaws to start runnin
mmmmmmmmmm
Posted by: seatec
Glad you found the breather tube. they are pretty handy but make sure you either put mini zip-ties or grip wire on bottom and top of little tube because it can fling off when you get jarred.

Wow guys I had an awsome day on the water with my dad.The weather was beautiful and the fishing action was red hot. We trailered my dads Grady White down to breezy point and got a late start. We didn't get any lines in the water until 8:30am. as we were letting the third line out be had our first hit and it was a strong one stripping line for a couple of minutes, well dad lost that one but by 9:30 we had each caught a nice 35" rockfish and we were ready for some catch and release. We nailed three more fish all the same size (most all of the fish we saw today were in the mid 30's) I was really hoping for a big "cow" but...hey with the weather we had today and the fact that we caught more than our limit (witch we released) and I got to spend quality time with dad I was more than happy. We were home and boat put away all washed and pretty by the time we usually get off the water. Excellent day man... good times. Now all we need is some good weather on Sunday. I'll e-mail you some pics gregg & Seatec

thanks for posting the pics Seatec. now no one can say it was all fishing stories. Hey JC they catch some monster stripers up there on the Hudson. Last year I caught a 45" 29# rockfish. I hope to get back out before the run is over to try to beat last years fish

There should be plenty of stripers in the bay this years I hope it dose'nt rain all year & screw it up with muddy water like last year we need a little drought.Hey guys it may be a little wet Sunday the forcast keeps changing it may be scattered or it may rain won't no till sunday I guess...

btw my shocks came in and are already on tghe quad. GOOD TIMES. lol

Eric, looks you you had a good day. Nice fish.
I'll be there on Sunday rain or shine. Even if it rains I don't think it is going to be that muddy, just a little wet. Got the bike all cleaned up and fixed some things so she is more than ready. I might even get into some riding tomorrow if I can find a place.

yeah, im bringing the EZ-Up for sure! this time. Eric. Don't let me forget ok? Got the QUad all ready to go.
I had a ball with my Grtiz today. its a big f=diference however compared to the YFZ. i almost rold it down a hill at RTSE440 trails but saved it by just driving down the hill through the brush. lol. had to pull the seat out of my ***** after that. lol

Hey guys I had a great time again hanging out and racing through the woods with all the guys. I had a much better race this time and I feel like I am starting to get the hang of it. All I need now is a nice new set of Elkas or TCS shocks and look out.

I know Seatec is going and I plan on taking my boys. If we have good weather we will have a great time.
Posted by: greghall
I don't think any kind of shocks could have smoothed out that rutted track, just more energy to hold on to the quad is the only thing that could have helped
Posted by: greghall
CletusEX how are you feeling today I know you took a good spill you ok?
Posted by: seatec
Yeah, same here. I had a blast. Didn't do as well as the others but thats to be expected being overweight and a first year quad rider. "MY Time Will Come" lol
Pretty interesting Race. If you picked your lines right the mod holes weren't really a problem. Stole a good line from Ritchie.
When Eric an i unloaded my quad Eric looked at my PRM bumper and noticed that it was bent on the left side. For the life of me, i can't remember what i hit so hard that it would bend the bumper. i know i had some small scuffles with some trees once or twice but i did know i bent the dang thing. oh well, it did its job and protected the a-arms and shocks.
The Dirisi shocks did very well. i bottom once or twice but thats not so bad The rear shock did kick like a mule once and that was a good thing with all those braking bumps everywhere. Those braking bumps do keep you out of the seat alright.
All in all, a good race and lots a fun. especially walking around the woods with a certain Camera girl
Congratz on your 3rd place Greg.
Posted by: greghall
I did better this race I was'nt sick afterward
I was real close to second Chuck Dunn (congarats)& he could see 1st place Micia Henery (he also won Tomahawk) Hope to get a better start so I can at least run with these guys & have a shot a win but I gave all I had & made a few small mistakes,Had some good battles with Bob Terrille from Dirt First,I had a killer line in one section were I got by so many people & they never seen it comming
It was sweet I did'nt see anybody using it.It was fun but very rough ,glad it was only 1 hour...
Posted by: seatec
THe problem wiht trying to get the holeshot is that you could end up like that guy at the start. upside down pinned under the quad. ouch. that looked painfull.
Posted by: greghall
Yeah he was right behind me glad he didnt flip on to me,Ill get that start dialed in sooner or later..
Posted by: chucked
hey Greg ur buddy mike andrews was out again this weekend, broken up shoulder and all. He tried to roost me but just ended up flipping over. He just layed there for about 10 minutes before he could get up. Hes still faster then everyone even with a broken collar bone.
Posted by: greghall
He's nuts he better heal up good so he can start racing again
Posted by: seatec
ANy of you guys sore today? Once again, i have no aches and pains other than where i banged my arm against the cycra handguard. i must not ride hard enough!

Yeah I'm doing alright. I'm pretty sore and got a nice bruise and lump above my eye (that was the first thing to hit the ground and I guess my goggles are what did it) My hip and one of my wrists are pretty tender also. I ate it in one of those whooped out sections. I was trying to stay out of the whoops and kinda ride a little bit of the bank and it just tossed me. It bent up the front end a little bit and blew out a tie rod end so the rest of the race I had to take it easy. I still had a good time. My brother wrecked in pretty much the same spot later in the race. He couldn't get his bike started on the start and was dead last off the line and came all the way back to 5th. He was on a mission. My buddy James (250RXCrider) also took a nasty spill, but is doing alright. Those whoops will get ya! Overall, I still had more fun than sitting at home.
Posted by: seatec
Oh man. that almost happend to me going up a whooped out hill. i to thought to hug the wall and ride beside the whoops and almost had my right front climb up the bank throw me off. lucky i wasnt going to fast and that probably saved me.
I'm glad your didnt get beat up to bad Cletus. I think i mightve seen you tugging on your wheel trying to straighten it out. was it your left side that got messed up?
Posted by: greghall
Glad to hear that Nick, those whoops were bad I almost went over twice when going to fast you had to watch your speed,I hit a few bottle necks on the first lap that held me up a little but I only got a groove going after the first lap, those walls on the side of the trails have bit many a quad rider including me they will suck you in & over quik.Good ride for your Bro to come from last to 5th it was very hard to pass.

I don't think he banged it up too bad. Just some scratches. He wrecked it not to far past the check point also. Congrats on the 3rd place.

Thanks guys,Im going to try to get ahold of the HS rep to see when we can get the points updated & maybe check on making the classes A ,VET,B,C so everybody can get a fair start instead of having to start & the second row,There's just no room for such a large class for everyone to get a start & is a little dangerous. She may not what to change the classes mid season but the way everybody was talking everybody would like to right?I think it woul be a good move anybody back me up on that???

I emailed Karen about the points and she said she was waiting on the results from the last 2 Tomahawk races. I would back you up on the classes only if they let me run C class next year
Posted by: greghall
You should be able to run what ever class you want unless you have won a couble of races or finished in the top 3 in the class the previous year,I think the top 2 move up now but that's not enough people to move up to fill A class & B if we had a C class,The fast guys know who they are & should move up if they are made too, classes are competitive if the people have the same speed. A stands for Andy's class now
I'm sure he would want some compition for him(not saying anybody can beat him he's always been the fastest guy in dis.7) I would say that the top 4 or 5 in B class are about the same any body could win.Does she even want to do the HS job anymore? does her husband race anymore?
Posted by: seatec
I'd definately back you up on those classes. People like me are definately C class material (absolute beginners with not to much stamina) and would appreciate a shot at a top 10 or even five with close to identical riders. Does it really take that much more effort to run smaller seperate classes? A good eye needs to be kept out for sandbaggers for sure. It's just not right you know.
Id say that about 1/3 of last weeks B class was C class material if you ask me.
Also, if you have a C class it doesnt really matter what Displacement you have. i dont think i could ride any faster somebody on a 350 Raptor or something.

I don't think she wants the job anymore. She is also the vp of district 7 and I think that is enough work for her to do. I haven't seen her husband or the other guy he rides with at the last couple of races. I'm sure if someone showed interest in doing the job she would hand it over. I thought about doing it but I would really like to hit most of the nationals next year and I don't know if I would make it to all of the local races.
Posted by: greghall
I would'nt mind doing it but my time is just all taken up I can barely get time to go to a local race, seatec the classes need changing bad,but some people will proply ***** about carrying points to the C class & stuff like that but most would give up points to run C class.. Also I would have more throw aways that would benfit everybody if you had a bad race or could'nt make it to a race you would benifit..But that would be fair till nexst year.
Posted by: seatec
i agree. i don't understand some people. wouldn't you want to race with equal racers instead of beating up on people like me? Right now I'm in it to finish and not be dead last but that will change as i get better and would want to set my sights on a top 10 or 5 even and that would be frustrating to have a clear top level B or even A rider beat up on me.
I think we might get Eric to do it. lol. he is president of his HOA so he has some experience in a committee kind of setting.
Posted by: greghall
Eric sounds good!!!
But honestly I was going to run VET class but I'm 3 years older & racing guys 10 years younger than me I had no Idea I could do as well as I did,but these top guys are still faster than me.I will e-mail her tonight with our concerns..
Posted by: Delaware152
I am over on the mx side but I have to agree with you guys. They changed to a vet, a, b, c class structure last year and it is working well. I think the top 2 or 3 for the year have to move up or if a c class rider is dominating all the races then he moves up. A class structure like this gets more people out to race. Everybody races for fun but you want to be able to finish decent. It not fun when you are a first year racer and have to race against somebody that has four or five years experience.
Posted by: seatec
Ahh bull crap on the older than most thing. When i saw you at Sugar hill i knew you where fast. you where actually holding back so i wouldnt feel bad. lol. THanx for getting the ball rolling on this with D-7.
quote:

You are right. It is easy to get discouraged by this but you just gotta belive that you can get better. Some say that you learn from better riders which is true but getting your ***** whooped with no chance what so ever fo a decent finish sux.
Posted by: seatec
Delaware, Does the MX side have a better turnout than HS?
Posted by: Delaware152
This past weekend there were 6 in the A, 8 in the B, 20 in the C and around 6 or 8 in the Vet. I would say this was a lower than average turnout. I have saw as many a 35 to 40 in the C class. With the new quads available now you need a C class so people can get experience. There's nothing like seat time!!
Posted by: seatec
I agree witht he seat time. I don't know if we are getting the same turnout as you guys do. i think its less and maybe thats why they dont want 4 classes. I think maybe they should scrub the Vet class. those guys are often faster than A-Riders.
Posted by: cletusEX
There definitely are enough people showing up to have 4 classes. Last year a good turn out would have like 10 people in the B class. At the last 3-4 races there have been 20+ riders in the B class. Also if there was a c class I think more people would show up to race.

yeah that was me
......third gear pinned and my foot slipped off the peg. I think the quad rolled once and landed on its wheels and luckly nothing appears damaged. The Budds Creek Mud cushioned my fall and a couple of bumps and scapes, but no big deal. Needless to say the Roll pegs and nerf bars got ordered today!
It was great racing with all you 4 stroke guys and congrats on some fine finishes. Greg with this third, Chuck Dunn with 2nd, Brian (White YFZ) with fourth and Dan (Cletus's Bro) with 5th.

I had Pro pegs on my 250R and never had a problem with my feet slipping off, I guess I was trying to be cheap and not dish out the money for a set on the 450R.

Eric its not a big deal you keep track of the points & go to a meeting once & awile I was going to do it when I raced three years ago but my other buddy mark did it that & was before they had a HS rep he had to do MX & HS he had no clue about the MX. Like I told the guys sunday the board will let you do whaT YOU WANT if the promoters agrees as long as it helps the sports HS died a little after I quit but its picking up again.I will help you if you want. Are you going to run the whole series?Than I say do it!! I have Karens e-mail address & if the guys get together & want to change the classes NOW I think she will or the dist.7 board will aprove we may have to go to a meeting to get it done. All of us can make the dist. 7 races what they were 4 or 5 years ago we always had 6 a riders,12 vets,25 or more 4str,even 6 or 7 2 strokers,

somebody needs to care about HS,that whats to do it for HS dist.7.

I would definitely like to see more racers out there. It would increase competition and would give us more of a voice when it comes to the promoters. The bike riders have a lot more say in what happens at a race because of their numbers and the money they bring in. The more quad guys that show up the more we could change some things.

id also like to know why the bikes are always first? or is that to much to want to change in the beginning?

Hey I was checking out the other threads from this weekends race coverage. Looks like Jeff from the QuadShop had an awsome day at the GNCC. Pappy did some awsome coverage of the race at Virginia beach . He got some good pics of Honda5 (Dave) but I don't know how he finished.
Back to the D-7 HS rep stuff... are they looking for somebody new? I would do it if they were interested in me. I also would have to get clearence from the boss. I am involved in my HOA but we only meet once a month. I think we could collectivly make some much needed changes to our local association. First we need to modify the class structure. I also think that the website need to be updated more often. I think another area that needs more support is getting more riders out there to get involed in a race. We have too many good riders out there that have no place to ride and wind up riding in illegal area's and giving our sport a bad name. I would enjoy the challenge to make what we pour our hearts into a more structured and informed sport.
Hey we even have a slogan worked out from yesterday... The D-7 Squirrel Chasers....Just a bunch of guys trying to get a nut!!
( thanks James that was great)

Here are some good pics of Dave! I hope he chimes in tonight so we can find out how things went.

Cool, I will talk to the wife tommorrow... it's her birthday and she will be in a good mood since I bought her a $250 Dooney and Bourke purse.
I'll get the suspension I want even if I have to kiss a little *****

Well here is the story from the weekend:
Went down a day early and took it easy until practice on Friday. Went out and ran about 5 practice motos (5 laps) the bike and me seemed to be real good. Slow Moto's bike went down on the last practice so he was out. Saturday went out for a short practice then on with qualifying. In the 30+ class I was flying and finished 2nd only a half a bike length from the leader. In the Production C class, the group was very large and they broke us up into 5 qualifying heats and I finished 2nd only because 2 guys got tangled up on the last lap and I slipped on by. Then Sunday came. Got a good pick for line up on 30+ and did a terrible holeshot. Did manage to stay in about 6th place until the last lap and was stuck behind the slow group and then I decided that I would do a jump and pass them. Next thing I know I'm laying on the group about 20 feet from my bike! Thank God the sand is soft! Should have just stuck with 6th place and stayed in line. Then for the Production class the track had gone to bad to extremely whooped up. Almost impossible to get any speed because there was hole on both ends of the jump that could swallow a quad! The whoop section was a good 4 feet deep and know way to double thru them. But I hang in there and finished 6 or 7th?? I was real happy with that. After the crash in the earlier race. And wow did you see the pictures that Pappy took of me (#991) Makes me look like real pro racer! I did get to meet Pappy but B didn't! Had a blast!!

I will never understand. Dude she collects Longaberger baskets....who the hell needs $250/$300 baskets laying around the house. I told her if she pi$$es me off I am going to use'em for kindling.(sp?) Her rebutle is why the hell do I need to spend all the money I do on fishing and quads. MY answer...BECAUSE I MAKE THE F-ING MONEY
Posted by: seatec
OH you guys think you have it bad. My better half (better at spending that is) has i don't know how many High end Sewing machines. She even bought some sewing machines that are like from the fifties for Christ sake. She also has bins upon bins of fabric nearing the $20k value and still she buys more. If she worked non stop on this fabric and turned it into the intended Quilts she couldn't do it in her life time. lol
But you know what? I keep my mouth shut and keep buying stuff for my quad habit.
And in all fairness, she does make a decent buck. If i could just get her to move out of that stupid Town home into a nice rancher with double garage and a few wooded acres. oh well, ill work on that.
All in all i am pretty damn lucky. She dos not mind at all if i would go riding all day both Saturday and Sunday. WHen i come home from a hard days riding she has dinner ready and helps me unload the truck. What a gal. And that's all that counts.
Posted by: seatec
Dave, those are some awesome pics of you ripping thorugh the sand man. You look like a Pro. ( street hooker i mean.)
J/K Dude. Really looks good. Glad you had a good time and didn't get hurt (except your ego a little, maybe)
What are your plans for next weekend? MAybe some of us can come down and run around on the D&B Ranch. you got a woods loop?
Posted by: greghall
Yeah guys you have to keep the wives happy,I have to say mines pretty good she would be at all the races if she did'nt have to take care of the youngens, she use to go all the time.Seatec go buy that big house bro so you can have a Quad Garage
Posted by: seatec
Man, Don't i wish i had a nice big garage filled with quads. THen again, how many quads does a guy need? I have a Ute and a Race quad. Good enough for me. Will need to hop the Grizzly up just a tad though
Posted by: 400exvet
hey guys! I'm finally getting over kicking myself in the #$$ for making another costly stupid decision during a race. I can tell myself all day long to " take your time and make a good decision instead of just shooting off the track at the first sign of a bottleneck and hope for the best"! That almost never works! I feel like a spooked horse that just shoots off in any direction when scared! Oh well, I'll eventually get it all together!
I think this district definately needs a new fresh quad HS rep! One that is involved and able to take the time that is needed to make everyone feel like they are getting something for the money that we spend on this crazy sport! The classes and web site are definately a good place to start. I see alot of new riders that don't know what to do or where to sign up or where to line up or what time the race starts etc. etc. What I think will really help is like a beginners button on the web site? or something to that affect! I would bet alot more riders would race if they didn't have to go through that learning curve of just showing up and following people around and hopefully signing up in the right place at the right time and in the class you really want to be in. At the end of a race, there should be a set time that the trophies will be handed out. I hate just showing up whenever telling some person behind a window your name and they give you a trophy. It wouldn't take that long to get everyone together and announce the winners and give the trophies. just my .02 Later!
Eric, maybe you can sneak some of those baskets and purses on Ebay and get some new quad goodies for you!

Let me know as soon as you hear from Karen. My cell # is 443-250-7407. For you guys that don't have it. I am on my way out the door to take my son Tommy to the Herr's potato chip factory in PA for a field trip. I will be on later tonight. I have to go and put my outdrives back on My/Fathers boat. I put all new seals and water pump kits in them and painted them all nice and pretty for algee and barnacles to grow on
I would like to get some of you guys together for a trip out on the boat for some fishing. Once chumming for stripers heats up I will let you all know and whoever can blow off a day of work will be more than welcome to enjoy a day on the bay in a nice, fast 27' fishing boat. I can comfortably take about 5-6 people.

hahaha YES YOU HAVE!!!! join the crowd....I see a nice enclosed trailer in your future
We bought ours up by the poconos, best prices around! Let me know if..I mean when, you want more trailer info.. My buddy Ron is looking for a race to go to this weekend. The only one I see is a district 6 HS in Valley Forge? I can't tell where the track is but, Valley Forge Pa. is only about 1 hour north of North East.
Posted by: seatec
Hmm THanks for info on the trailer. ill remember that.
I am about to order a 13 front and 37 rear for my yfz and see if that will help me a little in the real tight stuff. had to feather the clutch a lot last sunday. THe smaller rear will aslo give me a bit more clearance on the PRM skid since the chain is lready wearing two grooves into the black liner strip. think i am also gettgin a DID xring chain since the stocker is rusting away already. Probably due to poor maintenance on my part.

It was terrible Eric..the water temperatures dropped, and outside temps dropped 25 degrees from Sunday-Monday....It was a very bad day fishing.... Did I hear drinking beer??? lol

Cool, thats what ill do then.
Paul, you damn right about those stories hehe.

Guys I have more money invested in fishing rods then I do my quad! no need to worry about tackle, I make my own. I have almost every Do-it mold and about a dozen rare cast iron molds. I made most everything in my tackle box! I tie all my own bucktails and rigs.
Posted by: seatec
i knew your where obsessive compulsive. lol
Posted by: greghall
Eric I also have more $$ in my tackle than my bike,You have to see all my lures my boat is filled up with lures,4 bait casters at $350 each,4 spinning at $125 each, +all the other stuff that goes with it,had to spend my extra cash on something after I quit racing.
Posted by: seatec
i guess we are all nuts. i have about 10 grand tied up in RC stuff. cars and helicopters. boys will be boys.
Posted by: greghall
thier toys just get more expensive
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Man if I had all the money back that I wasted on toys and women I could pay off the rest of my mortgage! I went and bought new brake pads today. They got wasted at budds. I went with EBC SV pads. So I guess it is time to start talking about where to ride this weekend. Any suggestions?? Sugar Hill, Easton.... I need to take the boys out. Hey also I am selling both of my kids rides and going to get them upgrades. They outgrew these quick! $775 for the JR50 and $1300 for the LT50 both in great shape. Tell your friends with kids.
Posted by: seatec
i got me a set of ebc fronts and rear. i got the metal ones for mud and stuff. Also will be getting the 13 and 37 ttoth sprockets.
Posted by: Honda5
eric/seatec I'm going to seaford on sunday but I'll be home sat if you guys (and eric's kids) want to come over and ride a little in the afternoon. I do have a small woods loop but the track is more fun.

Sounds great I still have to talk to the boss to see what is planned for the weekend but I am sure she wouldn't mind getting me and the boys out of the house for awhile
Posted by: kwatts400
A mid weekfishing trip sounds like a lot of fun. Its hard to meet up with you guys to ride on the weekends because my days off are limited to mostly weekdays. I'll be in for the next Saturday or Sunday morning Easton trip, just not this Sunday.
I'm thinking of a new set of shocks for my 250r, but can't decide which way to go. My options are Elka triple fronts w/o rezz, and a rebuild on the rear, or works triple fronts w/o rezz and works rear. Any thoughts on which would work best.
Posted by: seatec
CHeck out the PM sparta race report. Pretty messy. Guess we are happy to report that one or two YFZ's crapped out again. lol. Anything to make the Honda riders feel better.
J/K.
Seriously, nice write up on the race. Hard to keep track of who is who i imagin with all that mud. Gregg, you probably wouldve had a ball there. hehe.
Posted by: seatec
Dave, thank you for the invite but saturday im taking the Grizzly out to sugar hill to do some mud bogging and continue to brake her in. AFter that i have to put the new brake pads on the YFZ so i can stop next time im heading for a big tree. Don't know what im doing Sunday yet but i have a feeling it involves a quad.

Hey bud.. there has been a great deal of discussion on that exact topic on z400central.com. the answer to your question is go with the Elka's without rezzies for now and you can always add them later. This setup is better then the Works with rezzies. And is about the same price. I will do an edit on this reply if I can find the thread for you. I am looking to upgrade my suspension as well but I am gonna go full out when I do. I just need to buy some other stuff for the house first.

IMO I think TCS shocks are the best deal if you are working on a tight budget. atvsuspensiontech.com sells them cheap and so does magnolia tractor. I am probly going with TCS fronts and Elka rear with a link.

Yeah man that mudd looked great,Honda's dont miss a beat.Andy told me Santo had a TRX450R sitting in his pit looks like he will race a R soon too

Traitors. lol.
Looks like i will be the odd guy out soon when all are moving to Honda the almighty. Good, i like it that way.
Hey, the pro's are good enough to notice the subtle differences between quads but for me the YFZ does its thing.
I wish that the YFZ guys would give Yamaha a chance to fix the problems and not duck for cover as soon as there are a few small problems. Oh well, whatever they need to do to boost their businesses i guess.
besides. blallance has his yfz dilaed in just fine.

Oh boy you guys keep worrying about the YFZ and R but quietly the new Z is comming out and I have heard rumers of aluminium frame,e-button, and possibly EFI! I know what I am waiting for! Suzi has already released that thier big ute for '05 has EFI. WOW
I don't care what manufacture does what as long as they all are collectively making imrovements to our quads and not phasing them out like they did years ago. I can only say we are lucky to be headed ion the right direction friends

True dat Eric,
Just for clarification. I am just having fun Guys. I know i would have fun on either quad. I am very curious about the Z450. The 450 bike is doing pretty good so far in testing and riding.
EFi is not always the best solution but would sure make it friendlir to manage.
Posted by: greghall
I just dont want to see all the pro's on the same bike bring on honda, suzuki, yami, atk, kawi,I want to see all the brands represented, seatec I'm just foolin with you Ballence does have his bike dialed in Im sure Yamaha has fatory guys fixing any of his proplems for him If he had bike proplems & it cost him a championship what do you think that would do to Yamaha.Eric you can call me any time during the day Karen has not got back to me yet..Oh yeah EFI would be a big mistake on the suzi, small engines are just becoming reliable in EFI.

man I havent even cleaned my bike yet don't know when I can ride again, may take the boys fishing this weekend, got to get the R cleaned up & get some prices on a steering dampner, that W.E.R. that one boy had at Budds looked pretty good.

I run a WER on my 400ex. My brother and James (250rxcrider) both have them on their 450r's and they work great. They are expensive but worth it in my opinion.

I needed one at budds,I had my bars almost come out of my hands several times because of those ruts a dampner would have helped me go faster on that stuff.Iwas going to go with a GPR but you are talking big doallors for a stem ,damper etc. $680.00
I'm going to see if Andy can get me a deal.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Dude go with the GPR 2.0 it is what Andy has on his......Gee I wonder why????
As soon as I get the beans for one it is going in the green machine! If I would have had one I would not have wiped into that small tree in front of you. I popped my shoulder out on that one.
Posted by: seatec
I am seriously considering selling my denton and go with either a GPR or a WER. i cant get a GPR 2.0 because that owuld make my already +2 setup to high. THe bike would look like a damn chopper out of OCC.
Maybe the GPR Pre 2.0 would do me fine. I heard pretty good things abotu the WER though.
WHat i dont like about the Denton that its very hard to get it mounted right so it wont bind up.
Posted by: greghall
But thats alot of cash Andy gave me a price yesterday on it close to $700 proply get a WER for $350. + I would have to go with high dollar bars & have to remove or relocate my key & coolent light(which is no big deal)but I could spend the money I save on some bead locks or some other stuff.
Posted by: seatec
yup. can andy get us a deal if we buy TWO WER'S?
Posted by: greghall
go to werproducts.net they have pics of all the dampners.
Posted by: seatec
Guys, for a moment let go of the "A real racer kick starts his bike and uses the clutch" mentality and tell me what you think about the Rekluce AUto CLutch AKA Z-Start.
Thread on rekluse
Rekluse web site
Posted by: greghall
Andy use to run a WER on his ROLL 250R he may still be able to get a good price on some.Seatec look at the pics of chris borich's YFZ on the WER site it mounts way low.
Posted by: seatec
HOw do you feel about the mounting point on the WER? i think its ok as long as its kept clean and lubed up.
Posted by: cletusEX
I've heard those GPR 2.0 units are nice but that is an awful lot of money. I thought $360 was expensive for the WER, until I rode with one. Those GPR ones are adustable on the fly but I have enough trouble just riding, let alone trying to adjust a stabilizer. And my bike spends a lot of time on the bars so I would be sick if I bent a $300 dollar stem.
Posted by: cletusEX

The whole stabilizer is sealed and you don't really need to lube it. I have never had a problem with mine and it's been through some pretty nasty conditions.
Posted by: seatec
Thanx for the info cletus. COmpared to the Denton the WER has a nice and linear action. no angle changes during the turn. Cool. Mounting plate and the clamp bar closest to the stem couldve been machined a little nicer and be black like the WER itself.
Heard anything about the Rekluse autoclutch. It's almost to good to be true. THe good thing is that you can still use the clutch and if you want to engine brake you just jab the throttle a bit so the rpm goes up a little and you have Your engine braking.
Perfect feathering everytime comming out of turns. pretty cool.THey also seem very reliable.
Edit: After looking at the overall view on the WER for the YFZ it actually isnt that linear. there is still a considerable angle change as the stem turns. what i am trying to say is that the compression speed will vary conisderable when you have a setup like this. The GPR is still the best on consider consistant dampening.
Posted by: cletusEX
I haven't heard anything on how well the auto-clutch works or if people are liking it, but I have heard that a few 450r guys where running them so they don't stall their quads. I personally like having a manual clutch and lately have been pretty good about not stalling in a race.
Posted by: seatec
THats the beauty of it. Youll still have a manual clutch if you want to. YOu can even ON the Fly adjust the Auto clutch engage speed. how cool is that.
Posted by: greghall
Well Karen the HS rep e-mailed me back but she only made a metion about starting a C class, she said that the turn out may not be enough,I wrote her back that it will be a good move & left my # to call me in person I will get to the bottom of this even if all of us have to get together & go to a district 7 meeting,I'll keep you guys informed.
Posted by: seatec
You just say the word and well go to the meeting. "If you build it they will come" is the right phrase for this situation. Aggressive recruiting on our side will also help. I have an idea for instance that First time HS racers get a free D-7 pass for instance as an introduction or something like that.
Posted by: greghall
Eric did Karen call you?I talked to her about the classes & concerns we all have I can get into it later with some of you guys it looks like she will make a C class but the experienced racers from last year & the top guys you know who you are cannot run C
(but who would want too just to get a trophy)it will be for first year racers & the slower guys to break down the B class,I think it will work out great. She told me some other stuff to do & ask some of you.I'll be back later.
Posted by: seatec
sounds good greg. i foirwarded the email to eric
Posted by: greghall
she should had called eric about the rep job ,she's concerned about sand baggers in the C class, the guys don't want to run A because they can't beat Andy, that's why some people quit racing this year, but what are you going to do make one class!the top guys in the B class can run A that's including myself but they still beat me sunday.nexst year i will run vet or A.
Posted by: seatec
greg. i wouldnt try to hard to get everybody into the right class right of the bat. next year we will no very well who belongs where. we will make andy sign a waver that he is only running for fun. lol more and more quads are sold every day. i think that if it gets promoted well people will come. we have to be active as well in this. have poker runs and stuff. we should definately have a quad club of some sort.
Posted by: greghall
Thats going to be tough.
Posted by: greghall
she also wants us to write a letter explaining why we want a C class & why its good for everybody involved,& get as many of the racers to sign it.There may be some people that don't like it because they won't be able to run the C class,I'm pushing this because District 7 is not like it was 4 or 5 years ago,I want to see it grow again,we have some awsome tracks to race & it would be a shame to have people stop because of misorganization.

I wouldn't believe everything Karen says. The top two guys from last year did not quit racing just because they did not want to race Andy. The 1st place guy from last year screwed up a bunch of discs in his back and does not even ride anymore and the 2nd place guy was going to quit racing anyway, he had knee surgery and has a kid on the way. He rides all the time with Jesse and would love to be out there racing in the same class with Jesse. The top guys in the B class are not really sandbagging it's just the way our district works. After this year I'm sure you'll see a few more guys in the A class. The top guys may have beaten you but two 3rd place finishes in your first two races back is pretty good. Those other guys have been racing and riding a lot in the last few years. I think it would be nice to update the classes but it's not going to affect me because I will still be running B.

Nick I agree with you Karen does seem alittle how do I say this-a little know it all,but she did have some good points I knew all of those guys Gab,Carl,& I myself NEVER expected to be in the top 5 of the B class, like you said it won't affect you but guys like seatec need a starting point,I'm sorry I chose to run B if I knew I was going to do well I would of raced Vet ,but sundays race was very good I went back & fourth with Bob T. for 1/2 the race everybody in the top 7 of B were right there with each other & that's good racing,If this gets too political & there's a proplem getting it done then District 7 is not going to grow,Its all about having FUN if its not fun why do it.

Also she acts like she don't want to do it,she had her race results out & said the guys that asked her to start a C class are some of the top guys 5 guys in B I told her I did'nt believe that,I was trying to stick up for you guys.

Ok guys I am waiting for Karens call. I am anxious to get things rolling for us squirrel chasers. We have a chance to really get things organized. I have to tell you things are pretty confusing out there and I think with some direction and promoting we can make a direrence in how this thing is run. I thinkwe all have good ideas and concerns. I think if we want changes to start we just might have to get together and attend a meeting so that our concerns can be realized. When I do talk to Karen I will find out the date of the next meeting and hopefully we can come together to voice our concerns. Hey I think it would be cool to have another excuse to get together. Lets keep this topic alive and mabey we can get Karen to visit the thread just to see how real we are. ......your thoughts

I gave her your # at around 5:00 pm Eric, she sounds like a tough sell but I'm sure you can do it

Seatec I think you should get the Recluse and try it out and do a tech review on it. (and even let me try it).

Greg, don't apoligize for racing B. I am just like you, out there to have fun and I know the other guys that I ride with enjoy the competition. We were the ones that talked to her before about starting a C class and it wasn't so my brother or Brian or any of the other fast guys in the B class could run it, it was for people like me who's first year it was racing. She gave us the same excuses about there not being enough people and about people sandbagging. But if they decided about a C class last year it would be a lot more organized for this year. I'm not arguing against updating the classes at all.

Does she race a quad in the HS series..... um no! So who should be making the decisions on how the calsses are structured..... ummm the racers that are paying to be part of a non-functioning organization! Yes what we paid to be part of this organization is peanuts to me but to some it is not! I want up to date info( at least from the same calendar year) I also want a fair structure to keep things competetive and most importantly fun! I can't wait till the next race because I will be questioning every racer on the line how they feel about this topic. I will wager my quad that the overwelming majority feels the same as we do. At each race I have talked to at least one or two racers at the start and they had no clue as to what to do, what to expect and even if they registered in the right class. All I can say is bring it on because when I get into something like this I do my homework and I am known for getting results.

Eric, you are the man! Greg, i really dont mind running wiht the big dogs because i know what im am there for. Other however may be very intimidated by guys like you and Richie and others in your league. that we have to avoid. Eric is right. alot of people i talk to are also in the dark how thigs work and how to sign etc etc. we need some good info out there and an updated website for gods sake. the d7 site seems to only care about MX.

I think all this talk about creating a C class is great. Are we also talking about opening the class's to both 4 & 2 stroke quads? Secondly, I understand that we currently have a few new riders in the HS D-7 series, but like years past as the season goes on the number of racers that show up becomes less. Then we will have four classes (A, B, C, Vet) with only a few riders in each class. I love racing and I love competition, but it is no fun when you have a class of 5-8 riders, not to mention they only trophy for every three riders. Hell I bought a 4 stroke so I could race in a class with more then one or two riders. Let's face there will always be riders that run in the class year after year even if they should move up. Racers are moved up to the next class based on their end of year points, but not nesacarly (sp?) on their speed or skill. You could go buy a blaster (or a nice used 250R) and run every 2 stroke race and at the end of the year you will probably be the class champion. Well I forgot were I was going with this rant, but I think D-7 will really need to think long and hard before starting a C class. As far as marketing the C class goes, D-7 reps can't even keep the points up to date or even show up to the race's!

If this does go through we need to make up some flyers & hand them out to everybody & tell them what we are trying to do & how it all works,The points will be up to date at each race &no more excueses, this needs to happen.Eric if she don't call you you call her tommorow.
Posted by: 250RXCrider
If someone makes the flyer I can make the copies/prints!

That's why me & Eric what to get involved ,the classes will include all bikes no matter what they are 2 & 4 stroke it can only make racing better & better for nexst year for the guys who are mid pack this year will be in the top 5 nexst year when people move up.the B class will still be large I would say at least 15 or more will be in it thats very good for everybody. The changes will keep everybody happy & wanting to race When they have a shot at a trophy or good finish for points.

Other than the obvious, what is the purpous of the Vet Class? We all know that people in the Vet class are OLD A riders. and if they are fat dumb and slow like i am then they should ride C class.

We only have one Vet class. bikes have Vet a, b, c Yes the vet class in quads if more of a vet a/b because no one wants to run against Andy. I think the majority of riders are over 30. At least it seems that way.
Posted by: seatec
oh well. I guess you cant make it right for everyone. I am thinking about 250x comment about maybe diluting the classes too much. Do you guys think that Karen has a point when she says that attendance tapers down as the race season progresses?
Posted by: greghall
VET class is the most competitive class there is,you are right nobody what's to race against Andy, but he has a right to race too.Eric call her today sometime .VET use to be the best class out there.
Posted by: Ericthered rdr
Here is a perfect example of a rider having no clue. My first race was at Budds. I went to sign in and get my cards. The lady told me that I should run vet because of my age. She never asked me my skill level. Although it could have been assumed because I disclosed that I never raced before. When it was time to race I had no Idea what the starting order was. Thankfully my buddy Jim was there to kinda help me out. I raced in the Vet class and was blown away by how fast those guys were. Dem Kyte boy's sure are fast. I was one of three first timers in the Vet line and there were quite a few on the 4stroke line. If there were a C-class there would have been good turnout in the classes except Vet wich I think would have only had 6 or 7. Hell the only person in A was Jesse I think. Now I think the turnout for that race would have been much better if the weather was better. There would have been about 12 in C class and 13 in B. Not bad for a day that called for terrible weather. Well this is my input. I would like to see some feedback from James and Nick about re-classing, although they are all pretty much solid B-riders. I think the only first year guy in thier group is Nick who said he would stay in B.

It comes down to this. EVerybody needs to have a good time and have a slight shot at top 5. You just cant make it right for everybody. One good thing about racing in a big class is that its hard to be last. lol

Ok....let me get this straight.......Quad HS guys do not have a C class?? And this chick wants a letter on "why" there should be a C class??
