For anyone who would like to paint there a arms, swing arms, frame, etc... and can't afford powdercoat, the POR 15 company make some of the best industrial paints on the market. their stuff is tough. i plan to paint my frame and such with it this winter, they have many colors, and styles of such. go to there website and look around at their stuff. it seems kinda pricey, but it is awesome stuff. i wouldn't use anything else for this type of purpose.

the site is www.por15.com

they also just came out with a color changing paint to put on polished items, check it out, use it to clear coat anyting polished so you never have to repolish, and give it that look of no one else.

Looks like it's not a spray paint. Do you just paint it on with a brush?
I used Hammerite on my stock 250R a-arms but i doubt it'll hold up well.

you can spray it or brush it on.I brushed my a-arms and you could watch the brush marks judt dissapear.Good stuff.but yet to see how well it holds up.I havent rode on em yet.

Yeah thats what our blaster frame looks like just hate to have to tear it down again until it's worth it (can afford pc or GOOD paint)

That "hammerite" by rustolium is some tuff stuff. If the surface is prepped right it will hold up well. I use it on the ball joints and for a-arms that the joints are non-removable.

Por-15 is also pretty awesome. I have done two pieces of exhaust pipe and done the test that they show in the catalog. the one where they beat the two parts together until the pipe bends. The por-15 held up great with no chipping but the finish was ruined, looked like crap. So it gets a thumbs up for durability from me.

so if I buy this stuff and paint my frame/a-arm's and swing arm...its should be almost as good as pc'd? also what is the proper way (for all you powdercoaters) to prep something for painting.

Posted by: foxhonda_400ex

before i painted everything i sandblasted it, thats the best prep you can do, but if not just sand it down good, and use a good metal prep/cleaner. then just brush it on and it will come out smooth shiny and hard finish.

i painted my grab bar one time with dollar general paint and its still holding up, and i do wheelies all the time and the grab bat drags the ground alot and it hast worn off yet. i used equipment gray primer..cost me a dollar

Posted by: AndrewRRR

Oh yeah? Well it only cost me $300 to do my frame, candy blue PC with clear. haha

As Freeride132 said Duplicolor car paint works good. Its still holding well on my frame and I dont even think I put a clear coat on it. Its alot better than PJ1. When I used that It just all chipped off and rubbed off my a-arms in like 2 rides and I took alot of time to paint them and also clear coated them.

I had my Grizzly powdercoated metalic blue for a case of beer from my neighber who profesionaly powdercoat's car's and boat trailer's.
