Im getting my hands on a 87 suzuki quadsport 230 for free, and its in good shape except for the engine, its seized up. before i go ahead and rebuild the engine, i was wondering if anyone has experience dropping motorcyles engines in quads here. ive got all the stuff to do it, welder, a friend with a plasma cutter, so tools wont be a problem. ive seen an 86 quadsport 230 with a CBR600 engine, so I know its possible. Ive got an 87 kawasaki LTD 454 thats just sitting here and the engine outta that would be the donor...can someone shed some light on this? i get the quad whenever i have time to pick it up its just sitting there, so i havent measured anything yet. comments and suggestions welcome kids

Lol, you guys must like fast stuff!

The exhaust and drive chain are the only problems that could take some time and planning to make work.

Get pics of the process, sounds cool.

Heres one when it was going together. I'll look for some more pictures of it being built and post them later.

Posted by: oldsandman

QJ's, Hopefully I'll make it back your way next summer! I know I'll be at st.a's at least once next summer.

Posted by: oldsandman

I have never built a quadsport...I owned one in the early 80's but don't really remember much about it. Check the legnth of the 230 frame and make sure it has the room to fit everthing. Your biggest concern will be the pivot point and alignment of the chain and sprocket. If you don't have to add some length. You'll have to widen the bottom frame rails and if it's like the lt250 & lt500 cut the top rail to make a norrower brace to fit between the carbs. I also add a steel cross brace at the bottom rear frame rails. I'll try to get the pics. I have of building one I loaned them to a guy and haven't gotten them back!
