do you guys think long travel is worth it for mx? or just go with std travel? what are the pros and cons of each std and long travel, i was looking at houser and prp

Posted by:

I"d say hell yeah it's worth it....

More wheel travel is a very good thing...

LT is a very good thing with more travel you can go fast jump bigger and not bottom as easy, I guess the down side would be the cost

Posted by: freeride132

well how much do you guys think i realistacally can sell my front end for i was thinkin 360 for my works with rezzies all fresh and 430 for my houser +2 a arms less than year old

Posted by: Glow Plug

I would look around on ebay to find something thats compariable to your stuff

I don't know the price on housers what are they new?

But i think works triple rates with ressizes are about 590 right?

Posted by: freeride132

500-550 new and the a arms are 525- 530 new, does the 16 inch long travel housers really make a diff?

Posted by: Glow Plug

after searching around on ebay there are a couple of sets of houser a arms for sale there are ones that are amonth old with a buy now of 385 and another set of 7 month old ones with a buy now of 400

So i guess about 375- 400 for your arms

and then mabye about 350 - 400 for your works

Posted by: freeride132

screw it ill just get my a arms re pced haha , im kinda wanting axis tcs or elka shocks, i get so many diff opinions on all of em

Posted by: mx400

if you can afford axis go axis. if not go with TCS their shocks are really good. but i woud do the ZPS triple rate fronts and for the rear i would go ZPS dual rate rear

housers 16 inch "long travels" are no different then your curent a arms. they just try to trick people into buying them. the only ones that make a diference is the 19 inch lt's and gull wing design like roll's lobo 2 is much better.

The honest guys don't charge any more for LT setups.

lt a arms are diferent!!! they use ball joints with higher range of motion. Therefore they cost more. They also took longer to develop because its not just a standard stock geometry a arms with a few extra inches added in. they gotta make up the money someware for all the R and D. alot of people on this site don't understand that. Some are outragously priced and others are just cheap ripoffs. for example. Roll's lobo 2 was the first gull wing design and works awsome. at the time it was the only othe LT setup beside the leager protrax and that was twice the price. SInce then companies like herman have copied Roll's idea but hermman isnt worth the price you payed to have it shipped to your house. i think his stuff is junk. I have jrd mech a arms which are copies of roll's but they are built very well. and if i had roll stickers on them doug roll himself couldn't tell that they werent his. they use the exact same ball joints and everything. high quality product.

Well holy crap! Someone better call John Arens and explain that to him before he makes an *** out of himself selling quality chassis items at a reasonable price.

A lot of the std travel a-arms on the market also use the high motion ball joints, so the only difference is about 4 inches of 4130 and a bend or two. As far as R&D, a lot of that could be eliminated by first using a calculator or AutoCAD. When you get into a "t-pin" style front end, then the price goes up. But these other ball joint style LT front ends aren't worth any more than a std travel in a similar design.

I suppose PEP's Wayne Mooridian is an idiot, too, because he doesn't charge any more money for two inches of 5/8" shaft?

I don't really understand why some companies even try to keep their retail prices down. They try to save the consumer a little money and they get **** on because some jerkass has to go spend his money on the higher-priced garbage. Just because you paid more doesn't mean the product is better.

I think Mark, Wayne, John, and everyone else who is trying to save you money should just say PISS ON IT and charge a fortune like everyone else for LT parts.

Welcome to Capitalism and Free Enterprize.

nuclearkeilbasa. you make some sense but there ARE companies like Walsh Racecraft for example that has ALOT of R&D in their products. its just a safer and better way to make sure the product is right and handles the way they want it to. you cant just put a bend here or there. you have to have the right swing and leverage and that takes R&D and money

I would say LT setup is WELL worth it! I have LST LT arms and Elka Quad-Rates in the mail, I CANT wait to get them! but Im pretty shure going from stock to that... well I better LOVE it! I cant wait to tell yall how it is... Elka are pretty, well cheaper than axis LT shocks, I paid like 1700 for front and back, thats the Elites, but I got them from UPP for cheaper. I will defently fill you guys in when I get them, but get LT!

I agree. I also agree that Walsh is one of the finest products available. But some of the companies don't have much R&D into any of their products, and they charge more just because they know you'll pay it. I won't name names, but most people know who they are.

I think the only major "expensive" companies that are/were truly worth the money are Roll and Laeger's. Walsh's prices are outrageous mostly because he doesn't build enough quantity to keep his prices down. Fortunately for me, I'm friends with one of the guys who isn't ripping everyone off so I won't have to spend my hard-earned money on any of them.
