Get a AC Front Bumper, AC Pro-Peg Nerf Bars, and Pro-Tect Skid Plates. I think you can get the AC Bumper and Nerf Bars from Marcum`s. The Pro-Tect Skids you have to get from Pro-Tect.

Does anybody have a link to the Pro-Tect web site?
The one on the links page doesn't work.

I have AC everything(bumper, propegs, skid plates) and love them. However the skid plates did rattle. I used foam tape and locktite to fix this. They all fit and look great. I have seen DG and the quality of AC is much better. I would get them all from Marcums. Cheapest prices and free shipping. I got my skid plates for $133 and he has propegs for $171. Don't know about the bumper somewhere around $60. Hope this helps.

Never, I used to use an old pair of adidas shoes for riding, and they didnt get stuck then, now I have some alpinestars, and it isnt even an issue. With the brake pedal and the shifter, I dont see how it could happen. I highly suggest them, the do way more good then bad.

I have the PRM baja bumper, which looks great and protects the front fenders from being destroyed by small trees. I have full PRM skid plates and AC Pro nerfs, they are very well built, although if you do get PRM skids and AC nerfs, you'll will have to take out the middle plate that bolts to the skid plate, the nerfs go where that goes, then you end up with a rattle. I ended up taking some J bolts, stretching them out alittle and putting them in place of the middle plate. So you'll have to do a little bit of mods to make them work together but all in all worth it.

The strongest front bumper I've seen is the PRM baja. For the full length skids, I don't think it matters too much. If money is a concern, try the full length plastic skids. For the swing arm on the 400, pick what you want. I see a lot of ppl mentioning the pro-tect skid, but I have a mangled one on a workbench. The strongest one I know of is a 3/16" thick Stainless steel skid from B&M racing, you can get it from Pro-Fab ATV. It's going to be the same price or less than buying an aluminum one. You won't mangle it.

I have ac nerf nets on my 400ex. the only time i have goten my feet stuck with riding boots on was i was coming of a 65 foot double doing a nofooter and i brought my feet back to get on the pegs and missed the peg. Geting my foot stuck was no problem at all considering it only happend that one time and if i wouldnt have had the nets i would have probly have hit my foot off the ground which would have hurt alot more. They are worth the money.
As for full skid plates i would recomend prm if price and weight isnt an issue but if you want a good priced plates get the ac. They arnt as strong as my prms were but they are alot lighter and do the job.

Scott, how much is that Stainless Swingarm Skid from Pro-Fab ATV? That sounds really strong.

Posted by: Scott

I'll check with them. I have one on my 300, but he mainly builds them for the 400's. I don't remember off the top of my head.

Posted by: Dave400ex

Ok, Thanks. Let me know when you find out.

Posted by: Scott

I just talked to my friend and he said $125. He wanted me to make sure you knew that since they're stainless steel, they are heavier than aluminum skids. But I really like mine. If you want one, let me know and I'll put you in touch with Matt.

Posted by: Dave400ex

That`s cheaper than Pro-Tects Skid. I know it will be heavy, but for XC Racing I want it to be as Strong as Possible. Right now I don`t need one, I have an AC Swingarm Skid. If it gets messed up really bad then I will get one Some Day. Thanks for the Info.
