finally getting this bad boy together. i have a ton of sponsers on board for this project so its going to be one of the meanest fmx quads out there when its 100% done. i'll do a full pictorial with it when its fully done with all the fmx mods. probably do a dirt wheels ad with it too

yeah just need a few minor things like the swing arm, rims and tires, nerf bars, bumper, handlebars and a few other things. not a problem, should be here by early next week!

Looks like you have a great start!! What all do you plan on doing? Are there any special mods since it is for FMX, like special grab bars?

i wrote a list over at z400central.com so i'll copy and paste it here:

the differences between an mx setup and a fmx setup is very minimal but make great differences in how the quad feels.

1. Suspension settings, i'll be working with doug roll and the guys from elka to dial this thing in. the shocks will be more stiff then an mx setup, spring rate is also changed. more less a completely different shock setup.

2. New seat design. the new design will be a completely new custom seat. it will be thinner then the seat already on the KFX and will have its own look and be very usefull for seat grabs

3. Plastic cutting, the rears will be cut down so expect in the near future that all fmx setup quads will have a completely different look then a fully modded racer.

4. Gearing, gearing will be changed from mx gearing so your able to go 75 feet off a ramp in 2nd gear as apposed to 4th gear with mx gearing.

160 feet isnt the problem, its the 200 foot goal that is

it wont be geared that much different, maybe 2 or 3 teeth in the back larger. im already doing 55 foot gaps in 2nd gear with stock Z gearing on a friends quad. i just need a little more speed with it and it would be perfect

i dont know if i totally understand your last post... but you were talking about the gear change.. if you ned a little more speed then wouldnt you want to drop 2-3 teeth on the rear sprocket?

nope he wants more top end if he droped teeth it would give him bottom end cause it takes less turns of the sprockets to turn the rear wheels more. so you have more excelleration

woops yup worm your correct. i'd want to go 3 teeth smaller in the rear. i always get it mixed up. the main reason i want to have more top end is so i dont have to shift so much, i want to keep it in 2nd gear like bikes do. the Z stock with exhaust has plenty of power to pull a smaller sprocket on back without sacrificing too much bottom end. then when i do want to break some long distance records its already geared to do it and i'll be comfertable with the gearing from the get go. actually i should just get a 15tooth front sprocket instead of 14 stock, that'd get me my 3 less teeth on the back

smaller rear sprocket gives you top end does it not? as will a larger front sprocket. for every tooth on the front sprocket equals roughly 3 teech on the rear sprocket. im pretty sure i got things straightend out now :confused2

oh my god its finally put together!!!!! ya know its probably one of the most bad *** quads ive ever seen. kinda feels good knowing i built this thing from the ground up. brings a tear to my eye :confused2

i'll be headin out to beaumont tomorrow to find some knarly jumps to test out the long travel elka's and to finally break in that dam engine!!! me so happy

ok, you probably saw ryan capes jumping 247 feet which is the ramp to dirt record but the ramp to ramp record is 253.'
