Are nerf bars good for XC Racing?

imo they are a must because they protect your feat so well u wont even know what your running over. i think everyone will agree that they are a must for any type of racing

i dont see how people race without them. there very nice on tight tracks, pin one of them on a tree to pivot around a tight spot. i love them!

im not a fan of them in the woods but on the track is another story. my friend has them on his quad and i/he always seem to get them hung up on a vine or rock or tree stump. i dont feel safe with them in the woods. i think the hot setup for woods racing is double wide pegs with kickups that are sharp.

I think its just up to you, I don't really like them because in the woods they will catch branches and drag them along etc.... I don't have many problems with my feet comming off the pegs... So for me I wouldn't get them.... maybe a non mesh would be good.... I just don't think they are a "Must"

I like bouncing off trees with mine too. The back wheels wont snag on trees and snap axles like ive seen happen before.

they are nice especially when the coarse is muddy. When your foot slips off it sure beats running over it. Plus on the starts when everyone coming into the turn it will keep them out of the open area between the wheels, protecting you.

After racing MX and XC, I wouldn't want to run without them.

lets just say its a must,tree branches have hit them and if i didint have them my foot would have been messed up bad

Wow, 23-0 on the poll! I guess nerf bars are the way to go for XC racing. I'll start looking for a set then.

i will never own another bike without nerfs that is the first thing i will buy along with a kill switch. nerfs have saved me so many times its not funny.i mean yea they can get snagged on stuff and in some cases if you have a small foot you can get your foot causght in the mess but think of all the advanteges. i hate ridding bikes without them. if i couldnt get them io would keep the stock plastic peices behind the pegs but i just dont feel safe without them. just an opinion
