I think a raptor is faster stock but not sure

I think a ds is a little big for a mx track and a little heavy

i always hear a ds is faster. and why wouldn't i want it on a track. i always thought it would be pretty good since it is so wide i wouldn't have to widen it at all. i just dontknow what one to buy i like them both

The ds weights a little more 460 and the raptor is 398

that dude in H5 down in South Africa(i think) didnt have any problems tearing up an MX track with a DS.

Last weekend we went to the dunes we didn't have paddles on but here is a good example: I have two friends that are twins they are both 6'3" one rides a DS650 and the other rides a Raptor both are stock and the Raptor had one he!! of a time making it where the DS and modded 400's where going. So now the guy w/ the Raptor is going to go out and buy a pipe and K&N for some more power. I think they are both fast though.

the ds is faster buy just a bit stock for stock .. dirt wheelies just had a shoot out a few month ago and the ds was the fastest from 0-40 and 40 to about 75 ..

i personaly i ride mx tracks all the time i hit jack frost and have no problem keeping pace with 400 pred and cannon ..
i have no problem clearing and jups over at jack frost

p.s the ds has the best shocks of any quad made right now most amout of travel and the wide stance make cornering a dream ...

thanks for you help guys i. i just sold my 2 banshee's and i want to get a fast reliable 4 stroke. and them 2 are what i want. banshees are just to unreliable once you start modding them .what ever i get i willbe getting this weekend

Yea, Good Luck on your choice. I favor DS650 over Raptors, just because I HATE the Raptor, it's a peice of JUNK! On the other hand, the one DS650 that I saw at the dunes Impressed me fully, it was off the HOOK. I dunno what this guy had done to it, but it was sick! He easily flying up COMP beating all the Raptors and giving the PIPED Shees some competition. DS are so damn LOUD too.

I was wondering, what is the loudest 4stroke with an aftermarket pipe? From what I heard, Cannondale and DS are loud as hell!

well i ended up going with the ds650 and i have to say i am very impressed and happy with it. it has tons of power and rides great. the bombardieratv site says the ds has 23% more hp than a raptor and 14% mor torque. i never rode a raptor. but i do like this better than all the banshee's i had in the past i had 4 of them all set up different. now i'm down to 1 shee and thats going to get another 4 stroke

You should read a little more, the DS spanks the Raptor in a drag race in every head to head test thats ever been done, flat, up hill, pro rider, amateur, it doesnt matter.

I see you got one already, Did you get the New Baja X, the Baja, or just the DS

DS the new 04 ds's have lost over 40# so i bet it is way faster and if they werer as fast or faster than the raptor in 13 or 12 or whatever they will destroy a raptor now....I dont like raptors

well it goes both ways, in a 300ft or 400ft drag race the raptor will win, if it goes a longer distance say 1/8 of a mile the ds will win the ds has just a tad more top end but the raptor makes a better all around quad than the ds does, but if you wanted to build it up and make it run really low numbers the raptor has more parts available and is lighter(wich is better in a drag race)

If that is the case why is it that in every head to head test, whether its the pro riders or the ametuers, flat ground, or and incline. the DS beats the Raptor every time. In the most recent head to head July ATV action, and dirt wheels september, in the july issue, the raptor was in third a half a quad link behind predator which was 5 links behind the DS, in repeated tests. and in the september issue it was beaten by the DS every time, and personally head to head stock Have never seen a Raptor beat a DS in a drag. Just my .02

dude i dont care if a 10 year old is on a ds 650. it will still spank a raptor. i dont know where your watchin raptors beat ds 650's so you might wanna look around a little more. i feel so un comfortable on a raptor. i turn it feels like it will tip. i gas it it wheeleis too easy. a raptor is my idea of a poorly built quad. bombardier hit the g spot with the ds 650 and once they lose some weight...... AIGHT NO STOPPING THE BOMB

do you even know what your talking about 300ft times and 660 the ds has every one beat .

how does the raptor make an all around better bike not for me being 6,6 230 . rapotor does have more parts available but the . but the ds responed alot better to mods . take a pami 720 of 760 or even an 830 . but when it gets to that point its who ever has the bigger pocket but for real world with pipe filter and jetted a raptor will not beat a ds ..

go swing on sparks dic& a littel more ..

yes i agree with all yalls posts, of course the ds will be killer withpami mods, but put the same amount of mony in a raptor cray craft 686, sparks 690, trinity 727. or even a powroll 770, then youll be about even, after all what quad won fsw's? it was a sparks 690 it out ran a 100hp ds, but like im saying in the 300ft i feel the is a better choice because of its weight advantage and its better low end torque,both respond to mods well, dont get fustrated theres no reason to be rude about it

know what 100hp ds did it out run not Scooby's turbo ds or jeffinrivercity,s ds 830

none of the big bore ds,s felt it was fair that the sparks team got a buy in to the finals ..

any way my point is stock for stock the ds is faster then a raptor .

again in this months dw it says the ds 650 is the fastest stock quad made

they even call it mr horse power ..

and sorry to tell u your dead wrong with the 300ft mark

its much easier to launch a ds at wtf open
then a raptor .

that's why the raptors are always playing catch up

not to flame on u but u have no idea what u r talkin about. the ds kicks the crap out of ony other quad out there(exept i dont know about the yfz450). i kills raptors in any distance race. it also has way better suspension. not any of the mushy s*** they put on the raptor.

the ds is waayyyyy under gear for what it could be capable of, I bet if you were to get the gearing high enough (it wouldn't take much) you could easily have the ds up to 100mph STOCK with room left to keep on going, I don't see the raptor is gonig to see those numbers without some mods

I recently saw that TBR Products came out with a new suspension kit for the DS 650 that includes a new swingarm and a-arms that lower the big DS 1.5 inches while retaining the same amount of travel. You can use stock and aftermarket shocks as well.
I've ridden a TBR prepped desert race 650 in a 24hour race and all I can say was that bike got dumped twice with only a bent tie rod to show for it.
We put on over 850 miles non-stop and for my first impression of the DS was AWESOME!
