how do i tighten my chain on my 89 R? Do i just loosen the 4 bolts and then turn the spacer thing? which way do i turn it? thanks

I'm not positive but I belive it has the same set up as the 400....
Loosen the 4 bolts on the rear of the swing arm and turn the carrier.
I don't remember which way but it should be obvious when you start turning.

yes, pull back towards you when you do it..

you will probably want to use channel locks depending on the condition of the slots in the adjuster... i know if the pry or whatever you use isnt big enough it can slip out or slightly mash the edges...
