ok im setting my ex up for mx but im wanting to run a swinger skid because i do more than just mx and am wanting to know are there any low pro skids that hold up well but are still low pro for mx? please let me know

Posted by: RiPPiNiTuP7

My vote goes to AC for a MX Skid.

Posted by: mx400

thx rip. i was planning on getting ac because i thought they were low pro. my skid i had on my blaster kept me from doing alot of riding

Posted by: RiPPiNiTuP7

I use the heavy duty.

Posted by: mx400

how much does one of those run compared to a basic ac skid? much difference in price? thx

Posted by: RiPPiNiTuP7

Around $15....its well worth it...they reinforce it with .190 aluminium.

Don't run a skid while racing MX or your gonna bring on lots of rear end problems....

I remove mine between MX riding and trail riding. 4 bolts and 10 minutes of work....

:confused2

Like?

Your gonna drive teh skid up into the rotor and chain eventually and break chit. The rotor and chain can dig into dirt fine by themselves but put a big swingarm skid on there to absorb and distribute the impact and it's not a good thing. Been there and done that.. No use for em on the MX track...

around what price are the reinforced AC skids running at?
Thanks

magic racing has them for 90 bucks. yea i think i dont want rear end problems so skid is coming off for races. dont wana fix more than i have too. thx guys for all the replies and info. helped a bunch

i run a PRM belly skid and have the stock swingarms skid. They both take a huge beating on the MX track. Around here there is no track groomed anywhere near decent. There are like boulders in the middle of the path. Its sucks cuz i ding rims, cut tires like nothing, break zerks, and i dented my PRM while on a "groomed" track. Also if u have any suspension that lowers ur bike a lot its a good idea to get a skid cuz u will hit a lot more stuff.

i run an armadillo skid plate. Ive been runnin it for about 2 years now, and no bends or breaks. Its pretty thick, and i like how it hugs the swingarm. It was only like $60 through rocky mountain atv. I was just looking for durability and thickness, bc i used to do a lot of trail riding.
