I have a ported banshee, stock bore with wiseco pistons. tm flat slide carbs, milled head, dg national exhaust (changing to tr6 or fatties very soon) run no air box and a k/n with an outer wears.

Last time out the right side cylider was cutting out. Tore it apart, compression is good 142lbs each side. Pistons and everthing else looks like new. Well the float on the right side carb keeps sticking wide open. The gas wich isn't even a month old feels kinda sticky to me. I run boyesen rad valves with carbon fiber reeds. Noticed also on the right side that the top reeds were stuck open.

Any banshee,or 2 stroker owners in general want to lend me a hand as far as trouble shooting goes. This is a seriously fast machine when she's running right. And I'm already missing riding it. Could the gas be the cause of the reed problem too. The reads aren't chipped at all and appear to be like new. Is this a common problem with the rad valves?

Bumping so I can find the thread, gonna put up some more pics.

The new style power reeds are much stronger, they don't have the big divit in the middle, They just kinda concave.

Problem's solved. Wiring sorted out, 350 mains installed, and Toomey t5 pipes and silencers. Pulls alot harder up top though. The dg's weren't bad pipes though, they have more way down low then the toomey's do, but they don't have the peak power, or the mid hit the new pipes have.

If the reeds aren't tight, that will make big difference in response, and power. I'd have to say, get new reeds, cahnge the plugs, drain the gas and put new 93 octane in there and let her fly. Good luck.

I wanna get a new quad but i cant make up my mind between the shee or the raptor.

No not really, The raptor is also a great quad, where do you ride? How much do you weigh, What type of riding do you like to do? And what machines have you owned in the past?

The shee will last as long as you run good 2 cycle oil, and at least premium grade gasoline. Get a proflow for either machine right away because the stock airbox set ups on both machines are junk, and the filter can be put in unseated, because the lid holds it in place. The banshee also needs to be properly jetted, depends on what altitude's you are riding in also. Change the gear box oil in the shee every 2 month's.

The only thing that still bother's me about the raptor is the tranny. It was a big problem with 01's but haven't heard much about later years

I gotta very fast banshee too. don't get one if you plan on riding trails alot! I am selling mine for an ex, but otherwise I love my shee and I am gonna have a hard time lettin it go. They are fast as shiznit! fo shizzle!

Basicly i am 14 6'3 350lbs and i ride wide open space's with some trail's.I realy like the shee.I have owned a 87Trx 125,Suzuki lt300,and a Grizzly 600 But hae riddin alot of bike's including 2 stroke freestyle bike's.

I'd get the shee if you plan on modding it, and the rap if your gonna leave it stock. I think you should also look at a ds 650 baja, you'd be the most comfertable on this one, and it's size won't be a big deal for where you ride.

I dont realy want to mod the shee just yet i do wanna have fun with it a lil.Every bike i had i modded it in less than a week.

It's a aluminum adapter that Bolts to your air box intake. It allows the air filter to clamp directly to it, instead of using the lid to supposedly keep the filter in place.

Get one pronto!

I am still having doubt's on the shee how is reliability?.
I mean will the original pistons last a year or two and if nt how hard are they to replace?.I will list the reason's that I have heard not to get one please post if they are true or fos(full of *****).

1)Plug's foul constantly
2)Price for part's
3)Reliability suck's
4)No power down low
5)To much mid hit power
6)The threat of it not being around much longer.
I need help because I dont wanna make a mistake.

There are so many aftermarket parts available for it, it won't matter when they stop making them.

Rebuilding them is pretty cheap, as long as it's just a topend job.

If you get a proflow, and make sure it's properly jetted it will survive longer then 2 years, stock especially. Make sure you use at least premium gas, mix the gas and oil properly, and don't use cheap 2 stroke oil.

The lack of low end is the nature of the beast, but you learn to keep the revs up, and stay charging.

Let it have a thorough warm up before beating on it, never fouled a plugg with mine.

It does have a good mid hit, but that's what makes it fun.

The decision is all your's, don't forget to check out that ds though, that's a good open area quad as well. I'd also check out the honda and yamaha 450's after they've been out a while, that is if you can wait that long.

Haven't kept up on the Lions, I'm pretty sure they're doing bad as always. I'm a hockey person

It's easy to kick over even built up.

You could start it wearing sandals.
