what kind of hood was it? if it was a 400ex or 250r hood you tried putting on your 300ex mabe thats why it cracked... cause its not ment for that...

Posted by: Pvt. Maggot

250r scoop. it cracked like right on the scoop and at two spots on the side next too the scoop

id say thats probly part of the problem. when using the carbon hoods on a 300 & 400ex they have to be flexed to fit. my quadtech was making some evil sounds when i installed it on my old 400. the carbon and fiberglass hoods arent very strong no matter who you buy them from. roll it or smack a tree and chances are you will be out some $$.

id ask if you have contacted fibe about the trouble your having and then ask you why trash a company when its highly likely it isnt all thier fault? a flat hood will take more flex then the scooped hoods especially when installed on a 300 & 400ex. quite possibly just a bad purchase on your part

im sure they will repair the hood or take care of helping you obtain a replacement. ive seen alot of thier hoods at the races and other then the ones smashed by trees they are holding up pretty good.

They are design for a 250R ... I do make a hood that fits a 300ex better than the one you got, email me a pic of were it broke and Im sure I can explained what you did wrong. and the part that supports the air intake part acts like a brace or major support for the upper part of the hood you cant be flexing these the wrong way and not expect a crack.

Thanks pappy

i see where adam and pappy are comming from i have a maier smoothy hood on my 400 and you can tell that this is a flat type hood and when i put it on my 400 there is a small gap because of how the 400ex nose slopes down, if this hood wasn't plastic im sure i would have all types of problems, next time get one for your quad, and you should have contacted adam before you come on here bashing his company, i have much respect for you pvt maggot, im not trying to flame

do you warranty them adam ? just curious

Posted by: nacs400ex

Yep, same with my hood. I was just not silly enough to go and crack in. I didnt reef on it when I was putting it down. The hood is for a 250r not a 400ex or 300ex. You have to expect something to go wrong if its not for that model.

Posted by: forum

maggot. YOu took a risk installing the hood on your 300. Adam helped you and said to you it would fit. But he had designed the hood for a 250r. When the hoods are installed properly without any type of force because of improper installation they are very durable. . My quadtech hasn't seen a single crash and is installed on the right machine.. Its got a section with 100 hairline sruface cracks in the top finish.. Im not to happy with it at all.

Posted by: Pvt. Maggot

i guess i was kinda mad...there not junky but where they cracked isn't even near the bolts...the bolts arn't that tight....and it didn't bend its still at the same shape cuz it has a gap on the side....but yeah...i'll get some pics sooner or later i've been real busy working on my blazer. but fibes arn't junk. had to clear that up. where it cracked on the nose it showed the tannish color..i fixed it...marker...worked great.

LOL, that plastic/hood didn't last long with me either...I ended up selling it

Looks like ya should of left the sticker on

I'm not going to take anyone's side, BUT, the nicer style scoops are made for the 250R. I like the quadtech with the grill but the gtill is only for the R hood. That's why most of us buy the R scooped hoods and install them on our 400s. Maggot maybe you should have posted here and asked how to install it without cracking it. If you thought of putting the hood on your 300, chances someone has already done it and could have passed along some "don't do this" tips. I know for my 400, the best way to install the R hood is to split the front fender into two halves. That relieves a little of the stress on the Carbon Fiber. I've raced XC all year with no cracks...yet. Most companies know what us riders are doing with their products. That's how the make their profit. Maybe both you and the company should have been a little more forthcoming with eachother. If they knew you intended to put it on your 300 they could have told you that it was not possible or they could have told you that it's been done before and what to watch out for. Just my .02 cents

i have a quadtech for a 400ex and its got a billet grill. same as the 250r.

Posted by: quadman21

Really? I thought that the 400 scooped hoods didn't have the grill. That's good to know.

Posted by: NTPracing22

never had problems with my fibe hood. its been stepped on, rolled on, and its even on crooked, so there's some stress on it. its' held up great. i have a new style in the mail, i'll let yall know how it goes
