Hey 270EX, is your 250 really a 270cc? Stock displacement on a 250EX is 229cc. We did a powroll big bore kit on my wife's 250EX and it brings it up by 20cc, so now its a 249cc

lmao! we always joke around with my friend that has a 250ex about how he should make his a true 250. and even if you get that big bore it still isnt really a "250"
man honda should have made it a 250 the second they took it out of the recon or whatever.
Posted by: honda270ex
I know. that blows how honda didnt do that. it would be alot better

It is actually 3 or 4 months old in that pic, lol. I ride mine hard and get it muddy but at the end of the day it gets a good washing and detailing to everything.
Here is a pic after what I considered a mild mud ride:
Posted by: honda270ex
How do u get ur so clean. i tried everything powerwasher, waxing it. wat else
Posted by: Fast250EX
I just take a grinder and... JUST KIDDING!!
I just put my hose on jet to get the gunk from off the fenders and everything. Then I use a big brush thing and a sponge loaded with soap to clean the plastic. After the plastic is clean, I move on to the swingarm and surround areas, using a big brushes with strong bristles and soap. I work around all the little nooks and crannies. I do the same for the engine and front arms and shocks. I then clean the tire sidewalls with the same hard bristle brush and use a sponge with soap on the wheels. That gets the bulk of it so then I lub most bearings or pivot points like at the axle, wheel bearings, shifter, swingarm bushings.
The whole job can take 2 or more hours to do it just right but I don't spend too much time anymore because it rains so much I don't see it being worth doing a full job when you screw it up in 30 seconds.
The main thing is after you are done riding, you are gonna be tired so you won't clean for a couple days. After you get back, spray the mud off with a hose. If you don't do anything, the mud will dry and it will be 20 times harder to clean.

Just curious, people with red 250EX's, what color is your seat and what year is it? Mine is red and I have a 2001.

hey exkid... nice 250ex but what year is it.

Posted by: ex kid
thanks mines an 01'. its really a nice machine people dont give it any credit. i race harescrambles and i'm pretty competiive with the 4 stroke C class that starts 1 min. ahead. people think im nuts when i come up on them and their on a piped Z 400 with suspension and i pass them. i dunno people need to realize its the rider more than the bike.
Posted by: Fast250EX
Nice, how do ya' like the Big Gun system?
Yay, 100 posts!!

lalala
Posted by: ex kid
i like the big gun alot. it came down to that of the HMF and the only reason, i didnt get the hmf is because i would have had to wait another few days for powder coating, so i just got the big gun. it gave it so much more power with the right jetting wich i havnt figured out yet. the thing is LOUD 98 db. yea the power was great tho i can leave it in a higher gear coming out of a corner and dont have to downshift as much. u can really feel it in teh corners and going uphill. its a quality exhaust, nice work but it was expensive. i paid like 425 with a kn jet kit and shipping. if i get a 400 im going to try and HMF tho. nobody no's they make one for the 250.

There she is...NOt a good pic of the baby..But Hey I still thinks its nice..I need a new rear shock? Anyone have advice? LIke a Banshee or CR80 or wat??
Posted by: J-06
Here it is from the front..Not with all my mods..Nerfs and what not..But i like the way the plastics are cut!
Posted by: honda270ex
hey nice pics. can u get one from the front so i can see those fenders of urs. and with the cr 80 shock u have to do some welding and some banging and with the banshee front shocks in the rear. idk u have to set it to the stiffest it gets so u dont bottom out or u can set it really soft for a really really smooth ride. idk if u do it give us feed back cus i wanna do it to with a cr80 or banshee shock. most likely the banshee one
Posted by: honda270ex
i mean one from the direct front
Posted by: J-06
There ya go!
Posted by: J-06
Whats the hood look k like
Posted by: rider250ex
hey. i would say if you can get a cr80 rear shock for cheap then go for it. y would you want the banshee shock. it will bottom off of the smallest jumps and it isnt really that adjustable. the cr80 shock is good. i havent really had a chance to test it out, but when i was foolin around with the adjustments i realized that it can be harder than a stock shock and also be alot softer. and it has a preload adjustment on it so it is awsome. all i am waiting for is a new hub ( should be in by monday) then i will get some pics and tell you what i think of it.
"and with the cr 80 shock u have to do some welding and some banging"
all you need to do is bend the bottom shock mount about 1/8-1/4 of an inch
Posted by: J-06
Cant i just buy one from Planet Honda? Let me know if this effects handling..Iam thinking it will makeit sit higher if not sweet..Let me knwo how it turns out..PM me with some Info on it
Posted by: YZrida
hey do u kno where i could buy race cut fenders like that for my 250EX
Posted by: rider250ex
you cant buy it...you have to cut it yourself

NacsEX cut mine did a really good job...He cuts most ppls fenders around here..He had the idea for mine..and its the best looking cut fenders on a 250exTREME ive seen ahahha
Posted by: Fast250EX
I really like your 250EX J-06. That is just the way I want mine. I agree, I need some shocks bad. I may race just for fun this year and I don't wanna bend an axle.
If I used the Banshee shock, would I use the front shee shock or the rear? I thought it was the rear but I just got confused my honda270EX, lol.
Also, the CR80 shock, what do you mean by bend the lower mount? Bend it down, sideways, up, what? I think I may just go with the shee shock because I have heard a lot of good results with it. I will get that, unless you can change my mind that is.
Posted by: rider250ex
you have to bend the mount on the swing arm out about 1/4 of an inch because the cr80 shock is wider than the 250 at the bottom.
Posted by: honda270ex
u have to use the banshee front shock. the rear doesnt fit it. sorry i got u confused
Posted by: honda270ex
what do u have to weld then? o yea again. Anybosy with a yellow 250ex black seat willing to trade for a 250ex red seat

am i the only one on this site with a 250ex that races it? i race D6 hare scrambles in the 0-230cc (aka blaster class)
Posted by: honda270ex
probably not, im dying to race though
Posted by: J-06
I plan to race mine soon..Might as well race..Hopefully have a new quad in a year or so but the 250 has been good to me!
Posted by: honda270ex
wow i never thoght i would have made a thread this big.
Posted by: redroost85
ex kid....no you are not the only guy that races the 250 I am sure. I run most (county, local) fair races and the four stroke class every now and then. The woodsman class has a ton of riders and you can't plaque unless you top 8 it. The four stroke class has some A and Pro riders, but there are less of them....so I plaque it up baby! Yes I would love the 400, but I am enjoying racing the 250 for now I guess....more power is always a plus!
Posted by: ex kid
yo red roost, where are you in pa. you might be in D6. D6 runs alot of hare scrambles. go to ama-cycle.org and find out what district ur in you might be in 5. if your in 6 come on out and add another honda to the 0-230cc (aka blaster class)
Posted by: J-06
Do you guys have any pics of your Hoods on yoru 250's? Also some pics of the track you race at.. i really wanan get started
Posted by: honda270ex
Dont put on a hood. From my expierience they break cus u have to bend them so much and dont look so great. just wait till an aftermarket 250EX one cums out. o yea what do u think i should get out ofthese. Works rear shock.......or works front shocks i weigh 100 lbs

My 250ex will be getting sold to my brother as soon as this fall. Iam gonna be getting a YFZ or if Honda comes out with a CRF450 range quad. This machine was great though and shes not GONE yet!
Posted by: balla250ex
Yea, same here. I think I will give mine to my brother and I am plannin on gettin either the new YFZ450, unless Honda releases something else. IF, they release something else, that is.
Yea, My quad has been great. Not a single moments problem...except the time I wrecked it LOL, but thats another story
. I do wish it was a little faster, but it has it's limits, being only a 229cc.
