since when do you weld wood
looks like wood but i think its metal, look at the curve, looks like little pieces of welded metal, and look at the crosses, theres some more weld
Posted by: Juggalo
its made completely out of metal lol well actually the top will be plywood but the whole frame is metal!
Posted by: muff
yea thats what i thought

That thing is just flat out amazing. I have got to get enough balls to hit one of those some day. Well good luck with this ramp cause its looking mighty fine.

david we need updated pics NOW!!!
Posted by: Juggalo
haha jon i will see what i can do. i wish i was closer to where its getting built but i'm not so that makes it kinda hard to give up to date updates. if my friend with the digital cam comes online i will have him go snap a few pics of it. the second side should be finished now and i wouldn't be suprised if they were working on connecting the 2 peices now but i don't know what is done for sure.
and yeah we have gone through 3 wooden ramps. none of them lasted even a year and they were about as sturdy as you could make wood. so unless you have like a huge stump and your gonna carve it into a ramp (billet wood lol) don't use wood to make a ramp.
Posted by: muff
i like the giant stump/ramp idea

Now that was actually funny
Posted by: Juggalo
well i got word today that the ramp is finished (stage 1 at least) and all it needs is plywood. i am goin to check it out tommarow and i will try to get pics. hopefully we'll bring it up here and get some wood for it and test it out. stage 2 of the ramp we are making it into a trailer to hold 3 quads and your gear.

JP Sounds good Juggs, pics soon?

cant wait to see some pics.
wish i had a ramp, but if i built one, dont see how i would transport it. i could imagine it now, drivin down the highway and it falls off
how heavy is a ramp like this
Posted by: Juggalo
well i went and looked at it yesterday. its not ready for plywood yet but some of the crossmembers are tacked in and its stood up and it shows how big it is. ITS FREAKIN HUGE! man it is big. its probably heavy as a mofo too i dunno how we're gonna pull it. nobody i ride with has a big enough truck to pull it (one guy has a ranger and the other a blazer lol). its huge tho. oh yeah its gonna hold 4 quads not 3. 2 inside of it and 2 out side. the bottom will fold up 90 degrees and lock in place and there will be side rails and the quads will rest on that outside. inside 2 more can sit and also gear and stuff. we are making the hitch removable and the alxe and tires will drop down from the bottom when you want to haul it, so that it sits flat when jumping. the whole thing will weigh a lot. i am guessing 800 lbs maybe but i bet it will be way more than that. i would not be suprised if it hit the 1/2 ton mark. its kinda worrying me but i dunno. one thing is for sure, and thats when its done its gonna be an awesome *** kicker! hey did i mention its huge? HUGE!
Posted by: motoracer11
well 800 is lighter than i thought
good luck movin it...mayb you could rent one of those huge flatbed tracter trailers
