I only live an hour and a half away from Silver Lake. So if the weather is nice, I can be there if I am not riding somewhere else. Silver Lake is my fall back. I have already been there 7 times this year. In fact I blew out my rear shock there this year. Just pm me closer to the 20th and I will know for sure if I can be there.

Well, it looks like June 20th I will be down at Haspin Acres or The Badlands. But I will be at Silver Lake this weekend if the weather cooperates.

I wish I could go......I probably won't be able to make it there until sometime in July!
Heck, I ain't even hardly been on my quad at all this year! Out of my buddies that have bikes, they're always too busy on the weekends to go anywhere, because in order for me to ride I've got to go to places like Silver Lake or head up north where the ORV trails are. I used to be able to ride around the local fields, roads, etc. but now there's too many cop's around. Oh, well.....I'll make sure to let you guys know when I'll be heading to Silver Lake!
Post some pics when you get back!!!!

Well, I just found out this morning that I am going to have to work this weekend. Probably Sat and Sun. So if I am able to make it at all it will be Sun. Sat is deff. not in the cards.

What are the conditions at Silver Lake? I'm headin out first week in July. It's been raining non-stop for the last month in Delaware and I'm a little worried that it will be too wet when I get there. I've got a 15 hour drive, so I want to make sure it will be worth the trip.

Remember Silver Lake is sand. So as soon as it stops raining it starts to dry out fast. Especially if the sun is out. I was there once when it rained cats and dogs in the morning and it was bone dry like it didn't even rain by lunch time. So I wouldn't worry about that.

Are there any trails near the dunes? I've heard that there were, but I've never been. I'll definately be there Mon. June 30th to Thurs. July 3rd.

whats it like at silver lake I live in chicago so I csn go any weekend, does everyone recomend it?

It doesnt compare in size to the dunes out west, the ORV area is only 400/450 acres I believe, but they are the closest dunes to ride. Decent sized hills, lots of drag racing, along with plenty of bowls to ride to have fun in.

True, it doesn't compare in size to Glamis, but there is a lot of room to ride, and give it all ya' got. There are some trails through a "wooded area", and places to try out your jumping skills, drag race, etc.
Dirtrider, I think that the 4-1/2 hours it would take you to get there would be worth it. I try to go up there about once a month, if not every other month once the riding season hits here in Chicago.
