Exhaust clear coat?

Has any one tried this clear coat on there exhaust? I have the sparks X-6 and cant keep the rust off it, was hoping this stuff will do the trick.

Anything is possible but the 1000 deg came right off my FMF.

The 1500 deg did stay on as of today and its a feew weeks, its also black if that matters.

I know that the baking as they suggested did seem to help a lot but be carefull as it can make a mess and set off all the smoke alarms if you try it in the house oven.

Trick to this stuff is application and preperation get it right and it will work pretty good most times, but leave some oil or grease on the part or miss a spot when scuffing or sanding and your not going to be very happy.

The stuff you want is made by VHT (clear) I use it all the time on my pro circuit pipes for my dirtbikes and it works & looks great> the only draw back is you need to bake it on after you apply it in a 3 step process. I use the house oven (when the wifes not home)

Most good auto parts stores should be able to order you some at about $5.00-$6.00 a can. Hope this helps J.

Do you have the ceramic coated X-6? Basically anything in a rattle can will not hold up on pipes very well. I painted the pipes on my sled several times, and found that only the white, and flat black high temp paints will hold up. The white looked pretty good, but I put it on too thin and it started to look like crap. The pipes on my sled don't get nearly as hot as the pipe on a quad would get though. I shot a spot on my pipe a couple years ago with some high temp black, cured it, and it burned off within 2 minutes of running on my quad.

If you want something that would really hold up, have the pipe jet coated. It looks awesome and I guess it actually holds up very well.

lenny....maryland industrial coatings does them for me. they charge me $45 for a headpipe. it normally takes them less then 2 weeks....and so far ive been extremely satisfied with thier work. ill try to get ya a number or when yer ready let me know and ill take it over for ya.

how much for say r r header and expansion chamber?
