that front "guard" peice of metal is going to bend up faster than a tin can, not being mean bro, but im not to crazy over it but nice try ive never seen any one make there own before
well now, i looked it over and with some kinda guards on the side like the stock Yamaha Warrior bumper has it will look alright id do away with the metal thing in the front tho

it looks alright i guess... doesnt look to strong? what is it ? tin foil? :confused2

Let's put the strength problem to rest, send me one and i'll crash test it for ya.:blah

the thing is built like a rock guys the little piece in the front was just one of the full skid plates that have the tab sticking up it was my brothers quad mines in pieces. as far as it being built well the plates that hold the bars are 1/4 " aluminum and the aluminum bars are 3/16 " side wall if you guys can bend this one faster than anyone out there i would be very suprised i will put more pics up when i have one complete

I know of two riders on Z400s that are looking for a bumper like that. I am sure that will hold up as welll as any of the other bumpers on the market. What is the finished weight?

Umm nice concept but poor design, Looks good though and I am pretty sure it can take a beating from a head on crash but the ends of thoughs tube will proably bend, real easy, because there is no support bars supporting the impact if one should occure.
Nice concept though seems like the ones from Armidillo or something like that.

its alright, but I am gunna stick with my AC, whats the price on it?

You dont want a bumper to be so strong that when you hit something it doesnt bend. Id rather have my bumper bend then my frame:confused2

Very good point
So whats it weigh, and cost? Looks pretty good, I would just go with the clear coat polished

IF UR IN IT FOR THE MONEY JSUT COPY A DESIGN LIKE AC'S AND JUST CHANGE IT UP A LITTLE...
Posted by: EHSRACING
yeah i know what you mean with it being to strong i did take that into consideration when building it i planned it to be stronger than pretty much any bumper out their but i still think the frame will hold up stronger i slotted the mounting holes which will give a little before the frame and i checked the strengths of the aluminum and steel in the specs and it should be fine. the way i see it is if you hit something hard enough to to really smash your front bumper and get to your frame you will probably have bigger things to worry about, that part of the frame is quite tough in that direction. as for price and weight i dont have a great scale but its quite light the scale i have says about 3 to 4 pounds but i will get exact when i have a complete one and price im not sure i have to see how much i have in it when im done

looks good but i think it would look better if those bars were bent back and up some
Posted by: CHAUNCY
It looks akay but I like the design of my DG better. Thats just my personal preferance though
Posted by: phatswinn
that looks like something i would make in welding class

pretty cool, thats awesome how u made your own... good job

As you can see by the picture that too strong of a bumper is gonna toast your frame if the bumper does not colapse. The AC that I mangled did just what it was built to do. Already have my new AC bumper installed. IMHO

it looks real good for being made at home.but it looks like it would go better on utility like foreman, rancher, rubicon,

I agree that the bars may need some sort of bend at the ends just to add to the design, but otherwise it looks good. The bumper is supposed to give before the frame, that's what it's for. My AC bumper saved my frame already once. But since then I have learned not to do doughnuts too close to trees, so my bumper is ok for a while

I dont like it. It looks goofy. Sorry bro just my opinion

If you leave those cross tubes like that...... with caps or not...... you'd be looking at a liability issue if anyone were to get impaled on them. Just something you better think about before you accept so much as $1.00 for one! That's why all of the aftermarket bumpers, grab bars, and nerfs have open ends like that. I give you lots of credit for building your own stuff, though. Just make sure you do your legal homework before you sell anything.
