IS the tecate a good quad? Is it fast? and is it anythin like the lt250 or 250r?

I think it was the fastest of the three, but im not sure. They are more rare and hard to find parts for I have heard.

It was a REAL rocketship. The motor was definitely the strong point of it. They are very hard to get parts for but they are the coolest quad of all time, IMHO.

They are fast!!!my older brother had a 86[tecate] & I had a 86 250R 3-wheeler & that dam thing would stick with me even with his fat ***** on it......

I saw a tecate about a month ago for 600 bucks OBO. Dont know the condition but I would have bought it and redone it to keep or sale. But I bought my 250r right before so I didnt have the $$$.

yeah man tecates rule! they are fast to, faster than a banshee! they handle a little crappy since their so narrow and had bump steer problems. but they are not that bad. my friend had a sweet one, all extended on axis shocks and a KX500 motor bored out. heres a pic of it

and yes plastic for those things is worth a small fortune!

both colors of plastic is worth a ton but the white is a lot rarer, and only made for one year i think

i would give a kidney for a green one. pics DO NOT do these justice. the green tecates are by far the best looking quad ever made. they were also the second fastest machine of thier time, second only to the mighty 'zilla

yea, my friend has one and it flys, he has an R too and he says his tecate is faster.

he is missing the headlight plastic for his, but it is so rare that he cant find it anywhere.

how much can you sell the plastics for?...why would anyone want the plastics that are worth a bunch of $?...its not like they would pay a bunch of $ for plastics and put them on their quad.

well the reason they are so expensive is cuz people want em. supply and demand. theres not very much supply but a lot of demand, therefore high prices. check out ebay and see what some of the sets have gone for.

already posted a pic of that one. its my buddy killerkx327's quad. it ruled!! in that pic it still had the 250 motor in it tho but even then it was incredibly fast! i have seen it many times in real life and let me say the pics do not do it justice..its sweet! also let me add the mustang in the background is extremly fast as well!

Ill tell you how great a tecate is.
I own 3
1984 kxt
1985 kxt
1988 kxf t4

And anyone who has owned one that they had just a little time on befor breaking. They will tell you.
They grow on you.
ill tell you a story.

I seen a tecate on ebay.

way way back when ebay was good and there were no 3 pages of tecate.
And at that time i owned 4 sleds
and old 250 honda street bike in parts a beat but running 1986 big red and a 1985 sx with no tires no 3rd gear(is this known for them) and the kick start was screwed

anyway i bought the beat big red off a guy who had a tecate.
I fliped out and said omf what do you want for it.

he drove as well as My buddy dove as well 1 1/2 hours a way and he brought it down and he said all it really needs is the crank fixed and new bearrings in the front.

And I traded him a mint condition and rare as **** Northway Invader snowmobile (Just needed a motor)
both my trikes and my vipre tires that I kept hidden. almost brand new.

Anyway I lost hard.
I always had a beater bike but watching me get robed like that hurt.
anyway In turn it needed a new crank
was all rusty
it cam with a brand new wisco
and a complete re done.

Cost me 900 canadian to fix the motor.
And I bought my t4
paid 500 cnd for it and all it needed was both tranny shafts and 2 gears
that caost me 1999 cnd to fix
crashed it
cost me 300 on new axle
bent hub bent rim ( i had my other rims on it )
and i broke the rad scoop
cost me 600 there

then I found another tecate
what a find
1000 for that
it ran but not for long
was swapping my 85 carb with a weird foren carb on the day I bought it.
anyway I for got to tighten the carb boot to the carb and burned the crank bearring out.
Had no kill switch and the spark plud is hard to get at.
So I watched as my bike burned.

So anyway made a good motor out of them both.

And now my bike is messed again
kick wont work weak spark

total

8 000 lost
but loving every minute of it.

I seen a set of plastics on ebay at 1000 american dollars
I never look the same way at my t4 again.
I just found another tecate 4
only 800 cnd dollars
seized up but I hope it will fix my bottom end problem.
