Hey, the hands are from someone doing a Superman seat grab, while in the garage. With the amount of adult beverages we had consumed at that point, it seemed like a funny thing to do.

Installation was very easy, even though it did not come with directions. The two rubber o-rings that come with it, are supposed to go around the frame and hook to the metal hooks supplied on the very back of the tank.

Anyway. The tank hold 5.5 gallon as Paul said. It was $185.00 plus tax, ($195.64 - total)I got it from MPS, the bike shop near my house. Clarke has raised the price to $195 on their site now. Plus they told me it would be $25 shipping.

I got this from MPS (shop near my house). (614) 836-5859 It's not real difficult using the soapy water, squeegee and hair dryer, but I still let my bro-in-law do mine. He's good at it. The stickers are $69.99 retail, seat cover is the same.

hey sweet tank my buddy has one on his R. My question to u is does it drop any lower the stock tank? My reason is I have a FCR39 carb and with the stock tank I have just enough room to tilt my carb to rejet it. I emailed Clarke and they dont have a clue.

No, I don't believe it will sit any lower than your stock tank. The gains in capacity are made by replacing the side panels with the tank and the tank running very far forward. You should be fine. I'll take some pics of it near that carb to show ya.

Did you have to get a +1 steering stem so your bars wouldn't hit the tank?

No, it's a stock stem, it clears easily. My buddy has a bent stem and his rubs a little, but a straight stock steering stem works fine.

Finally some pics of the tank. There's about a 3/4 to 7/8 of an inch between the bottom of the tank and the top of the carb.

just a question but why did u get that tank? i know they hold more gas but do u ever go on that long of trips to where u need more gas? i think the way the tanks sticks up is anoughing and not worth it. But thats just what i think

What I don't understand is how does the extra gas the Clarke tank holds get to the carb? A lot of the extra gas the Clarke holds comes from the parts that replace the side pannels, right? How does that gas that is below the petcock get to the carb? Can someone help me?

Let's see...

Chanman, I got the tank because I could only go about 60 miles on my stock tank with the stock engine. With my engine mods, I was gonna be running out trying to run my usual loops in Wayne National Forest. Other riders in my group that had 440's had to stash gas cans on the trails somewhere. I also want to be able to ride from one end of Wayne to the other, covering ALL the trails and still be able to make it back to camp without having to worry about fuel. I've ridden well over 100 miles in a day as well.

Last year we went to the dunes and I went thru 3 or 4 tanks of fuel on Saturday alone. Seems you are wide open there all the time. I got the tank because I wanted more range. I haven't had a chance to get real extreme on it, but I doubt the tank sticking up will affect me at all.

Wingnut, the petcock actually mounts a little farther back and a little lower than the stock one. Also, I cleaned the tank's inside before installation and all the fuel, but a few drops drained out with the tank sitting level, so I'd have to say the petcock is at the lowest point. The petcock actually has a screen that sticks up about 2 or 3 inches in to the tank anyway, so it's not just a hole for the fuel to fall in to.

Pairanutz, I thought it was a very good fit. Everything lined up well, the installation was easy even without instructions. The tank came with two rubber o-rings that I didn't know what they were for. I emailed Clarke and they told me they were for the rear of the tank to go around the frame and connect to the two hooks bolted on the back of the tank.

I don't work for Clarke or anything like that so I don't care if you get one or not, just relaying my experience with it.

After shocks thats what i want. I actually like the look of it stickin up a bit. It would be great to not have to pit during Harescrambles or even have to worry about gas.
