I use mine religously on my streetbike (Yamaha R1).
They are well worth it.
any time you leave it sit for a week or more i plug mine in.
You dont have to, but it keeps the battery in good shape, it ensures you get max life from your battery.

I use one primarily on my sportbike also. During the winter, I switch it between my sportbike and my EX about every two weeks. I think they are definitely worth it.

We use "float chargers" which are basically the same thing, but about 1/6th the cost. Just leave them on there, they won't overcharge a battery and they keep it at max charge.
