what kind of oil should i put in the crankcase of my 250R? and how much?

I use honda tranny oil, you will need to put in
700cc, or 24 U.S. oz, or 0.62 qt.

Basically you will need 2/3 of a quart. But allways use the oil check bolt on the right side of the case.

i use 5w-30 motor oil. any kind will work. that is what is recommended by curtis sparks.

I use castrol syntec 10-40 or 5-50 for the summer. I use the entire quart.

a quart is too much,..you could be running a risk of blowing seals , causing leaks with this amount
manual suggests .74 of a quart = roughly 3/4 's of a quart
on flat level ground fill it til oil runs out the check hole on rt cover
manual also suggests 10w40
for 5 years this has worked well for me
I see no need to deviate from the manual

1 quart isn't too much, the 250r case has the extra volume to handle it. In addition to that the oil system R, and other 2 strokes, does not build pressure like the 4stk. The extra oil provides lubrication. Don't take my word for it though call an acccomplished 2 stk engin builder, Paul Turner, Ritter Cycle, Lrd, CT racing, and see what they recommend.

At my Honda shop, the guy there recommended to me Golden Spectro 80W 2 stroke tranny oil, it seems a little thick, but it is QUALITY!

do you have a manual ???.....it suggests "good" anti-freeze with distilled water @ the proper ratio ..I use "Engine Ice" .. on the 310 ...too avoid the possibility over heating it ...

i ment "good" as in "name brand" stuff, like engine ice. i knew you had to mix water 50/50 with the coolant.

thanks dave! :confused2
