Ninja motor in Banshee

Hey - looks like we are going to put a 1993 Ninja motor into our Banshee this spring.....sick thing is, we have a turbo sitting around that would fit just perfect on it. Does anyone who has done something like this have any advice or input for us? Just curious if weight is going to be an issue or not, and if the powerband will be usable for anything but drag racing.........

sounds like its gonna be a sweet ride. i dont think you could use it for much more than dragging though. probably sand dunes and maybe even wide open fire roads or something but i dont know how well that would work. and as long as you arent jumping i dont think weight will be an issue... just make the quad a little heavier!

What Ninja motor are you gonna use?

A turbo? Thats cool. Make sure you post some pics when shes all done.

If your unsure about the wonderful world of forced induction, make sure you do your homework before slapping on that hairdryer.

Good luck with your bad ***** project and keep us informed!

Weight will be an issue but only how you distribute it. Don't go crazy with a really long swing arm. Your center of gravity will change because of the motor weight (more weight forward) vs the shee motor. Choose the right size sprocket and you can do anything you want with the powerband. Good luck! There is nothing like the power.

I've put a '90 400 INDY snowmobile engine in my '96 TB with a turbo siting on the bench saying pic me. ( My next pro will be a
scrambler 400 throw out the stocker and put a 800 RMK engine in it.

You have a quad with a 900rr engine in it? Holy shiznits that thing must be fast - you got pics handy? Have you ever seem anyone go bigger in an actual quad frame?

I've seen a couple with air cooled 1100's. But heres mine...

I am currently working on putting a 2001 (fuel injected) turbo gsxr 600 motor into a trx 250r frame. I have a friend that has a banshee with a turbo gsxr 1000 in it!! Yes it is really fast in sand drags (84 mph up comp hill at buttercup, 99.7 mph in 4th gear at the flats at butter cup. (it has 6 gears...thats 2 left!!!) but he also has no problems duning it all day long. They will be very easy to ride, remember that they are 4 strokes so the power comes on fast but is very usable.

This is him in a run accros the flats.......

Posted by: roostu

This one he is racing a guy with a 900cc non-turbo engine. He just shifted as you can see by his roost, and the white helmet in the background is the other guy getting left behind!!!

Posted by: roostu

Hey old sandman your bike looks awsome! What year motor is that?

~Roost-U

Posted by: oldsandman

Thanks roostu, it is a '98.

Posted by: flyin#5

holy crap sandman your quad is awesomelook at the size of the sprocket on that thing

wow look at your list of quads... someone has some money

Posted by: remlapr

Oldsandman, your quad looks awsome. I love the black.

That Banshee must be awsome also. How many hp's do you think these quads are putting out at the rear wheels?? So how about it... can anybody top a 1000cc TURBO banshee as the craziest, fast quad they have actually seen run???

Posted by: roostu

That turbo 1000 banshee is sitting right at 275 rear wheel HP!! I hope to get 150-175 out of mine, then ill build one with a turbo busa motor!

This one right here is a beast of a machine......

And the action shot

Posted by: roostu

That one is a beast. I like drags and all but I prefer to be able to dune still. Youve got to admire that roost!

dude.. that is ****in* awesome!!!! holy cow.. wheover owns that must be in love with it i would be

Posted by: AndrewRRR

That's Steve Mille. He owns Sand Dragon Motorsports. The motor is one of Angelle Savoie's ex-Pro Stock bike motors. 250hp on gas, air shifter, sweetness.
Dont belive the drag-only powerband hype. That's banshee stuff. My Ninja 600 powered LT has the most linear powerband i've ever felt. The hp and torque curves are as smooth as can be. The only reason they are considered drag-only a lot of the time is just because the weight makes them hard to ride fast on trails and a bad idea to jump.

Posted by: 400grl

We were hoping the powerband would be useable since our Ninja motor is a 4-stroke and all.........makes sense about the weight issue! Those pics are awesome!

whoa thats a lotta roost

Posted by: Paul400ex2002

man that's some sick stuff. I know a guy with a turboed gsxr1300 'busa motor in a sand bullet frame
