What is better?

I was wondering what is a better quad for my riding needs. I ride only dunes and sometimes very rarely ride on open fields but 99% of my riding is on the dunes. I am 6'1 185 pounds and am 14 so I will be growing. I have narrowed my choices down to the Raptor and the Z400. I dont really jump that much but I do drag race a lot and I like to side hill ect. So what would be the better quad for me the Raptor or the Z400? Thanks

may wanna look into a predator, or a banshee. but between the Z and the Rap, I would choose the Z.

raptor

So why the Pred? I heard they had some big problems and their polaris

For 99% dune riding get a Banshee.

if you just ride dunes and your choices are either a raptor or a z400 go with the RAPTOR. They aren't much for what I like to do but if I were riding at DUNES and just dragging I'd get the RAPTOR. They can be built to smoke anything and have all kinds of power in stock form.

I dont want to get a banshee simply because I am sick and tired of mixing oil, cleaning ect. So you guys think the raptor would be better? And On the other fourms they say that the 03 Raptors stile have problems is this true? Thanks

Well You need power in the Dunes so the Raptor takes the cake there. Or you could always get a 400Ex used for really cheap and then sink like 3500 into the engine for a BIG BORE monster 465 or 48?.

Then You got a HONDA: Can't Beat them

A More powerful quad then a Raptor or Z: Already build engine

And The Best handling quad out there stock for stock(Cept an R)

You can always stick like 2000 into the engine and 1500 into shocks a arms and Axle.

And You will spend the same price as if ya was gonna go buy a new Raptor.

Or just about.

Yeah I guess your right about that but when you start boring the **** out of them the start loosing dependability.

Posted by: killed300ex

i would look around for a worked 400 with a 416 or 440 kit in it and with suspensipon mods i mean used quads go cheap you could prolly get a used 400ex that will beat both a stock raptor and z for the same price. Id loook inot a 400
killed

But wouldnt a bored 400 break a lot more than a stock Raptor?

Posted by: ridesa02400EX

cannondale glamis 440

Posted by: JakeZ400

The glamis is too expensive isnt it like 8500?

Get a PREDATOR. It's around the same price as a raptor, but comes more equipped for what you pay for it. It's great for dragging or just riding the dunes.

Uhhhh. I agree with MD.....

As far I as I know personally and from what I read. a good machine would be the Predator. I have nothing against the Raptor, but the Predator makes six more ponies that the Raptor. It also handles quite a bit better.

As President Bush would say, " Make no mistake about it" the Predator deserves to be closely looked at. There are no real probs with the predator as of now. Do your homework on it, you might be impressed by the pooplalaris.

Someone is gonna shout me down for this but what about a Ds650 baja? If your 6'1" and growing the Ds is probably gonna fit your frame better. Hmmmm a foot of travel sounds mighty nice to me after out jumping the 300:devil If you have to there are companies out there to make a Ds pull harder than a mack truck

Posted by: 4punksdad

ds 650, raptor, banshee, or any cannondale.

I would get the raptor. For the money you will spend on the z to make it as fast as the raptor you could of put it on the raptor and have a fast bike. Yes the raptor is not the best handling quad but with acouple of suspension mods it will handle great.

HA-CHOO!! (Predator):blah

Lets see The reason this post was started was because he wanted our oppinion on the raptor or the z400. Not all the other quads. Why do people have to give there 2 cents in where it doesn't belong? Yes The other quads are good choices but he only wanted the raptor or z400.

Posted by: DESDAK4

Out of those two the Raptor is going to give you the power you are going to be needing. But at your size and all IMO you are going end up much happier on a Predator (more power than a Raptor) or a DS-650 which I forgot about in my earlier post. I understand you issue as I have a buddy that is a bigger guy too and he says the EX and Z feel tiny to him.

with all of the great sport quads on the market today.................why limit yourself to the raptor and the Z ?
thats why we offered our opinions.............your apology above is accepted.

Cannondale Clamis... made right for the dunes.. or a DS they should really be DUNES only machines

Posted by: RED121572

I just got my issue of ATV Sport. All I can say is WOW.

Remember the days when there was only three or four sport quads to choose from? Now there are EIGHT great machiines.
