I was just wondering what you guys thought about this who do you think will win a stock Blaster agiant a Stock 250ex and could the blaster compete with a 300ex?

well when i had my blaster which was stock i drag raced a stock 250ex and beat it everytime but i dunno bout a 300ex never raced one

cool how tall are you I'm 5'10 200 lbs. and 16 years old I'm worried if isit to far back on the seat i will fli cuz of the blasters torque and if i sit to far foward my knees will hi the handlebars do you think I'll have any problems?

well you might feel a little cramped on the blaster i am bout 5'9 and i was beginning to feel cramped so i got a banshee

yea thats what i was worried about but Money is tight and i just said let me get what i can get and the blaster was the cheapest so i guess i gotta start off small and work my way up

Blaster will win every time when racing a 250ex. Blasters are 300ex are VERY close.

Its hard to find cheap banshees i mean there new 5,000 or more so i mean to find a fairly new one in good condition your not gonna fidn one for liek 2 Grand and that was my limit so i stuck with the blaster

I piped Blaster will probably beat a stock 300ex.

now this is more like it, blaster vs 250ex. A blaster is alot faster than a 250ex but a 300ex has more power than the blaster. The blaster will get it in top end but that's it. You could find u a good 300ex for 2 grand. The 300 also handles way better and is more reliable. In the end it will save you lots of money by going with the 300ex. Plus it has reverse not that that matters

I'm sure your right but I jsut purchased a Yamaha Blaster 02 brand new now scratches at all from a guy in Kansas and i got it 2 days ago and am very happy with it

with those mods u should be able to take a 300ex, 250ex, and maybe a warrior. I doubt u beating a warrior but its possible. You won't beat anything in the HIGHPERFORMANCE class like 400ex, Z400 etc. Now if you purchase the 240 national kit which is almost 1000 bucks u might be able to run with a 400ex. I don't think u could beat one but it would be close

In a short drag race a stock blaster would beat a 250EX and a 300EX but in a longer 1 the 300EX might win.

Remember there's only like a 4 mph difference between a 250EX's and a 300EX's top speed.

Thanks just curious to see who would win I wouldnt bore it over or do any engine mods only mods i would do would mayeb a pipe depending on how mcuh money and some nerfs wanted to see if i could keep up with my friends they have 250ex and 300ex and 250r I dont think ill keep up with the 250r

hey sup... i have a 1989 blaster wit a fmf gold fatty pipe and a fmf powercore silencer. Its bored out wit a 250R big bore.i have 18IN rims wit treaders on the back. I raced a 250EX before and it was bored out 40 over and had 18IN rims .. it had a BIG GUN pipe on it. i beat it in the long run and off the start to . so ... IN my opinion blasters will beat a 250ex .. but thats just my opinion... find out for urselfs lol...

yeah i have a blaster and i beat warriors,250ex,250x,and 300ex.i have a pritty nice worked quad.it does about 63-64 and i can keep up with 400exs.

Oh alright, I wasn't sure.

A stock blaster will slightly get beat by a 300ex in a drag race but not by much at all.

if i had a choice between a blaster in a 250ex

i think i would choose the blaster just becasue it is better all around than the 250ex besides it lacks reverse ...

i hate 250ex they have no power what so ever to even hang with me and my buddy jeremy in the snow..

jeremy has a blaster has never had a promblem with it besides brakes the frist month or so but its been good for the last 5 months .......

this 250ex with brand new razors white brothers pipe and kn airfilter with no air box was weaker than granpa' weiner ...

it had enough power to get you into trouble and not enough to get you out....

you can read my past post that i made in the summer sticking up for the old 250 but now... i would have to say blasters are better and it would definatly beat a 250ex

also the guy that owns a 250 he also has a 300ex and his beats jeremy blaster 95 percent of the time.....

Cool yea I rode my friends 250ex for the first time about a month and a half ago when New York had its first snow storm of thsi winter and it was a fun ltitle quad acutally thats what made me want oen but after riding that and trying otu a blaster the blaster and 250ex are no comparison you cant match the Blaster's Torque and 2 stroke power agiant a shaft driven 4 stroke

Me and my cousin went thru this with his blaster and my 300ex. We bought them about the same time last year. When we rased we were dead even. He went and got a pipe and could blow way past me till I could get up to speed and I'd stay up with him although he would be ahead. I got a pipe and rejetted mine and I can blow him away at least by 3rd gear. If he really tries to race he can still get me off the line but I catch him and have a higher top speed than he does. Plus he has trouble starting his and it seems as he's fouling plugs all the time.

Ok guys, here's my 2 cents. I have a piped and jetted 250 and a guy I know has a Blaster. He kicks my butt pretty good on a drag race, but I can clean his clock on the track. His top end is what gets me, but the torque on mine can muscle him around the track. No mine is not fast and gets a good beating from the other guys, but I can hold my own against this guy's Blaster.

ok heres the deal...... when my 250 was stock and my friend didnt have his procircuit on..... i drag raced him about 4 times....

he really didnt have any idea on how to ride a clutch 2 stroke and i did... but we raced ne way...

started off good then he juss pulled away into the distance (those were the first 2 races)

the next 2 races were different.... i took his blaster cause i knew how to ride clutch 2 stroke and he would probably be better with no clutch and juss shift....and he was....

so we waited for my friend to drop his hands which meant for us to go, and when he did i juss popped the clutch and flew off leavin him in the dust (with him on my quad

:devil )

so it really doesnt matter whos the better rider when u compare these 2 because the blaster will alwayz outrun a 250.... but since i modded mine, he loses juss about every time

i have a 2001 blaster and i beat one warrior and a 300ex motor with in a 250r frame and i beat a cr85 but it wasnt a good race

my buddy has a brand new blaster(01') and i have a stock 250ex. we draged the quads stock to stock and he beat me,but we got back up in the woods and it was a different story. since my buddy doesn't ride that great i put my frined who i ride iwth all the time on and he's just as good as me. the blaster just couldn;t hang in the woods cause it's so short and tippy i was takin corners faster and stoppin quicker. it was faster comin out of corners ,but when you have a clutch that helps. we took it off our double and it feels good in the air. another thing that sucks is the baster has NO ground clearance. my buddy got high centered a few times in ruts that we ride a wolverine and 250ex in with no problem.

I also own a 2002 blaster as well as the Z400. The blaster has the B1 toomey pipe kit. Thats all I done to it and thats all it needs
It runs around 64 mph. I beat every 300 in the neighborhood.
The blaster is a great trail machine as well. Oh yeah I also put pure sport bandits on the rear..get rid of stock....

Yeah I was also looking at the Toomey B1 Kit it looks liek an awesome pipe, What would you recomend a Chrome or Nikel Pipe chrome i think looks better but some have told me the pipe will turn bluish purple in color.
Yes The stock balloon tires don't look that great I haven't had the oppurtunity to try them out yet still waiting for my Blaster to arrive

Well I went with the crome and have had it on for at least 10 months now and and still looks brand new. The toomey pipe broadens the entire powerband. Ride it stock and then ride it w/toomey and u will feel one **** of a difference. As for on the trails like I am reading on some of the other posts. Its all in the rider. You will suck them up and some will suck u up... please change them stock tires when u get it...They are ballons.

Yeah I think I'm going to leave the front ones stock as they don't make much of a difference and look pretty good anyways but i think I'm going to put the stock BALLOON tires on EBAY or HERE and see if anyone wants them. Then see about getting me some ITP HOLESHOTS

Dont worry about any tire you get for the quad for traction.. It will be defitantly BETTER then stock :-D

I was thinking if i were to replace the stock tires i would only do the rear tires I didn't think the front tires did much and the stock fronts i thought were ok for what they are gonna do. Let me know

I really didnt plan on changing my fronts either, but when they got so warn down, that I hadda hellova time turnin

So dont replace them as soon as you replace the rears, wait a lil while longer.

ITP's are the way to go if ur in the woods. i orde turf tamers in the woods and they give you less groudn clearance than stock but if ur on a track i'd go woth then. look at razars too, there a nice tire.
