Snow Jump?

ok, here's the deal, i want to make a snow jump just for fun because we have been getting a lot of snow and was wondering if i build up the jump with snow and then put ply wood ontop, would that help in keeping the jump from not wearing down as easy? also what else could i do, i plan on making it with mostly snow, it will not be huge though, just right to do tricks. do you think this idea would work, and how much work do you think it would take to make and will it be worth it?

it will take alot of work cause you will still have a heck o a time packing the snow yes the ply wood will hepl distubute the weight so you dont wear it down to quick but if you have a tractor it will be alot easier and dont forget and snow on the plywood will make it very slippery but i thinik it would be worth it if you kept the jump working all winter

your joking right? no, we just tie 2 shovels onto it and go lol, it doesn't work too well so i usually shovel by hand...it came with a shovel when he bought it used but it was crap and so is the quad, thats what he gets for buying a polaris.

salt down the ramp when your done so that the top layer melts and freezes again with dimples from the salt for traction

I havn't tryed it but I think thats what the snomobilers do. ALso it takes forever to do it the regular way. My friend and I spent a day building a jump and for one 4ft pile your gonna pry need twice that by the time its done.

Its actually a Super A, The super A has the hydraulics. Works good. Runs great.

i have built a few snow jumps this winter.
i did it two ways. the first was i took out the plow truck and plowed the entire yard into a table top and rode my sled over it about 20 times backwards so you dont screw up the take off. the second was i found a small natural hill and built a kicker on one side and landed on the down side. i also packed the run way and jump the same way as above. all the work was done when the snow was sticky then let set untill it froze. it holds up great. and lastly use the snobanks from the plow trucks and build a road gap..usually it dosnt take a lot of work. hope this helps

i have never tried salt, i will try that some time soon.....

what i always do is use water and throw it on and then re shape it, so i will freeze into that shape...

it works awsome

I dont think water is a good idea.. the best way is to let it melt for a week with salt on it...I didnt try plywood also because you wouldnt have any lip with this. here is some pics of my snow kicker

I am located in alberta, we are getting tones of snow so i made a snow berm too. On tuesday i will hit the jump and the berm and throw a good roost for you all :devil

My friend made a jump in dirt this summer and snow went on it this winter and it made a nice little kicker...I'll take you some pics tomorrow...

the kicker is relly nice I made it on top of a hill, 45 or 50 ft from this hill. then I made a landing less far from the hill cuz I wanted my friends to jump it also. the kicker is 5ft½ high maybe more. we get about6 feet of air when we want to land on the landing and 7 to 10 depending on how fast we go if we want to land downhill.

hey,

I started a jump yesturday....we don't have very much snow up here in minnesota about 2 inches but i just shovel up my yard and got a small little jump and put water on it then i'll keep adding on and put a layer of water on it each time i add on....I'm going to see if that works....
