i'm thinking of ordering a set of paddles. i was thinging either skat-trak edge or hauler. hopefully this summer i will get to go to St. Anthony and i know i will try every hill. i was wandering if i should get straigt paddles since my fav thing at the dunes is to climb the big ones and need alot of traction. should i get them with .125 or .160 rims.

OK you are asking two questions here that are the same.. If you should get straight or V paddles or if you should get Hauler(Straight) or Edge(V)..

OK if you like just shooting the hill and drag racing most people love the straight paddle Haulers since they have a bit more push... The V Designed paddles will give you better turning and handling which is good if you like messing around in the dunes.

You just have to decide what you want but I think you already did since you are saying you love hill shoooting. Personally I would get .160

I currently have .160 Sand Sharks which I love but wich I would have seen the Edge before I purchased mine since the Edge just looks mean for a V paddle and I'm sure handles great.

I have .125 on my banshee. I think they hold up great in the sand cuz its soft, but its a different story on the trails. I did some jumps and hillshooting, my rims are still fine. I have V-Paddles for the Shee too....I didnt too bad outta the holeshot at COmp HIll at BUttercup.....but those straight edges throw some NASTY roost!

Get the straight padddles...you may need to use a bit more body english to make the turns, but the extra hook up is well worth it IMO. And yes...they throw a mean roost

Rims...get the thickest ones you can afford. The added weight is worth it too. IMO unless your only goal is to be the fastest dragger or hill shooter.

I have a pair of .190 fronts that have been banged up at the dunes. I'm guessing from roots on the trails.

The handleing differnce in strait and v paddles is bearly noticeable. I have rode both setups on the same bike, hardly noteable. What will make a noticeable diff. is if you have front sand tires. I like haulers cause I think they look better and they work well enough, plus they are very light. Downside....they are not very durable. I will probly be running maxxis roosters as soon as I get the money for another set of paddles.

As for wheels, get .190's. They are not that much more expensive, I have .160's now and they flatspot like crazy.

in my opinion, if you are going to St. Anthonys, I would DEF get straights... Go with the Haulers or Turbo paddles both are good, and you will need stragihts if you planning on climbing there..heres a pick of the turbos I have, they doreally well, good price and excellent durability... On sand you can get away with a .125 rim, or go with .160 a .190 is a waste on sand to me the turbos will run ya about 56.95 a tire..

WEll that depends on the HP.. If your referroing to the 300ex, then no more than 7 short paddles, NO Ecge paddles or Taller haluer or Extreme on these paddles are too deep and aggressive..For a 400cc quad, I reccomend a Hauler or Turbo or V paddles, LEave the Rooster paddles for the bigger Cc ,machines. they are more heavy and more aggressive...Hope this helps Tina

I have ripped the center out of one of my .160's twice. Through RM the price diff. between .125's and .190s is about $10-12 a wheel. That is cheap preventive insurence over having to deal with flat spots all the time. I have .125's on the front of my R and they are so messed up the beads won't seat anymore I run 10 psi front and rear too.

I ran .125 all summer and my whole xmas break while I was down at Buttercup Sand Dunes in AZ...Nothing wrong! Theyll work great, until you hit something! I even got some jumps in on them, still fine! I ran 3.5 in both, i think!

yup.. I run 3.5 in mine also, for the most part I think most peopl use the .125 -.160.. But do whatever makes you feel better I guess...

I might as well not even run tires if I ran 3.5 psi, they would be off the bead in no time

To me it would just make more since to buy .190's and not even worry about it. But I am stuck buying at least beadlock fronts.

I run about 3-3 1/2 Lbs in the rears and 4-5Lbs. in the fronts. I also have 8 paddle haulers on .160 wheels.
