There is NO legal spots at all for 4 wheelers!!!!! And most private areas have been closed because of whiney neighbors or fear of lawsuits!!!!

I registered in MA in go to Beartown forest, 20+ miles and all legal, about 45 minutes from Torrington. Just make sure you got skids, also they're is October mountain another 10 or so minutes north. Just gotta register in MA. Besides that, looking at trespass or impounds, good luck, Matt

Pittsfield State Forest is also up in the Berkshires area, 30 - 40 miles of trails. I've ridden Beartown and Pittsfield, both are great!
