I took my quad to a local dealer for the rear bearings being shot and found out the motor is wounded. So they recommended i take it to the dealer that sold it to me to be fixed. I did and I feel like im gonna get the run around by the vibe they gave me before they even put it in the shop.
My rear bearings went out after 5 months and it caused the brakes to wear uneven and it ruined the disc. While it was getting looked at by the local dealer he said the motor doesnt sound right and the dealer i bought it from said "O this is unheard of we have never seen this i sure hope polaris will warrant this" at any rate the motor is hurt and the rear bearings are shot along with my rear brakes.
I just want to hear your thoughts on my issue.

Sorry to post in my own thread but the motor issue is the lower end is knocking and i thought the ktm motor was just loud and the noise goes away when i pull in the clutch. I know everyone says its normal but it is not in my case several former ktm mechs have looked at it at my local polaris dealer and said your bike is hurt.

The rear carrier bearings om mine went bad in 35 hours. Definitely poor quality bearings.
Keep us posted about the engine problem, and good luck!

Wierd....my dads bike was doing the exact same thing. We pulled the cover off the case and tightened up the aluminum nut and now no more noise. It is quiet again. Haven't had a problem since.

free to try.....the dealerships arent always the most honest people.

they actually said "your motor is hurt"? that is a first in terminology. so what is wrong with the motor? I know if the primary gear nut comes loose it will make noise. If you pull the clutch in,in nuetral, and it quits making noise then it sounds like either the nut or normal noise.

The motor doesn't sound like the other 525 that was there im hoping that it is the nut you guys have been talking about. They actually told me my motor is wounded.

lol, that is funny. How do they know it is wounded if they have not tore into it?
A new KTM motor sounds nothing at all like one that is broken in. I have had 3 KTM powered Outlaws and ridden many others and to be honest, it is weird when they are new because they are so quiet and tight. once broken in they rev quicker and make more noise.
A buddy did have an issue lately but he had well over 100 hours on it. The counterweight bearings went out and the gear on it had a tooth broken off. It was a KTM quad though.

I got the quad back today it had a loose left hand threaded nut that is a common mishap among these motors i have read about. The rear end was covered under warranty but the brakes they are not sure if polaris will warrant them. hopefully it will hold up i havent had it out yet.

Good to hear that it was an easy fix.
"several former ktm mechs have looked at it at my local polaris dealer and said your bike is hurt"
Now it makes more sense why these several "former" KTM techs are "former KTM techs" LOL!!

It's behind the right side cover. Just next to the clutch setup. Here is a pic:

Remember it's a left handed thread. If it's loose just remove the nut clean it with brake cleaner and use red loc-tite when reinstalling it. After that do not add oil until the next day. I hope yours is an easy fix too.
