i just put a new top end in my 2000 banshee and it leaks alot of coolant out between the crankcase and left cylinder. this might sound a bit dumb but can i put silicone on the gasket? would that fix the leak? also i may have put the gasket on upside down... thanks for any help

I would pull your head gasket back off and clean all the mating sufaces really really good with a gasket scraper and then with a scotchbrite pad if necessary. Do not use silicone, go to your yamaha dealer and get some yamabond, some of the best stuff you can get. Honda and kawasaki also have like products, the kawi is 1211 not sure on hondas I always use the yamabond or 1211.

Did you put the rubber grommet back on the bottom of the cylinder? I would check and make sure, I've never seen them leak out the bottom of the cylinder.
