Well i have had a prob with high rev on my 04..when i start it up it idles perfect then when i hit the gas it seems like it is reving to high after i let go of the gas it is still reved up for awile..i replaced the cable today and the same thing..any info would be great thks

pull the carb and clean it really good, but first drain the bowl on the carb and then open your petcock back up and start it up and see if your good or not. also you might adjust your idle all the way down till it dies and then set the idle and see what it does.... i'd bet a good cleaning would do the trick though..

Don't clean the slide with carb cleaner......... Use plain ole' gas.

It sounds like the slide diaphram is bad, the coating on the slide is bad or dirty, or you have an air leak.
