Was out riding yesterday an saw the my ltr was leaking coolant out of the overflow tube bad. But the temp light never came on at all! Could anyone give me ideas of what would cause this? Any help would be Great!

head gasket is bad

Posted by: Codypage12

that would b y its leaking out of the overflow tube?

Posted by: atveric132

yea if the head gasket is bad it will just run out the overflow and not run through the motor

So in other words the head gasket is blown letn compression from the cylinder leak into the water system causing it to pressurize the water system an push it out the over flow!

yea exactly i was blank for a min. but yea thats what i was tryin to say

I think my ltr just over heat now but dont know whats causing it the water pumps fine an the thermostat is opening! havent had this ltr long and the guy i got it from installed a big bore have know idea what comp. ratio so i ran race gas for the first few tanks an tryed 93 this past tank and dont know if that would have caused this or not! any help would be great!!!!!!

Using 93 octane might be the problem. My Athene kit did the ignition thing on 95 octane before I added octane booster, now it is fine.Ignition is caused by excessive combustion chamber temperature and the fuel ignites without any spark, therefore the timing will be out and therefore overheating. If you dont do something about it,you will crack a piston.
