I'm in the process of rebuilding my engine, when I split the clutch/ oil pump side case of the engine, this little part fell out of its place. I cannot find in the manual where this part goes. Does it go in the oil port, like a metering pin, or does it go in the center of the clutch plate? Any help PLEASE!!!! I don't want to gernade an engine. Thanks guys. Sorry, I'm trying to get pics available.

Looks like the clutch lifter pin to me.
Take a look at the parts fiche @ bikebandit or your favorite Honda parts supplier.

I don't think it's the clutch lifter rod, this part is small, looks similar to the clutch lifter rod, but is dommed shaped on one end. Somebody has to have there clutch case apart out there. ANYBODY ????????????? I believe the clutch lifter rod attaches to the case lever for the clutch cable. ?? That part is intact on my case. I believe that the clutch lifter pin has a flat surface on the one side which mates to the clutch lifter bearing once the clutch handle is pulled in. The part in the picture looks like a metering pin to me, but I can't find it on honda microfiche.

well the pics look bad.. but i can say i took my clutch assembly apart and never seen this thing before.. i dont think its part of the reverse selector shaft.. or part of the oil pump.. heck.. looking thru my clymer manual.. i see nothing at all that looks like this anywhere on this atv. is it possible that it just fell into the oil dipstick hole, maybe the dipstick was out and this part fell in.. i have found strange things fall out of the clutch side,, like paperclips a razorblade.

If you dont have a pin to put in the hole in the second pic. then I would have to say it is the clutch lifter pin.

I may have to agree with quadcobbler

oil filter/case clutch literpin in the middle of case pic. to the left of the picture, is the oil dipstick - just to the right of dipstick, is where I thought the other pin may go? You can only see the pin side of the part.

lifter pin on the left of pic unknown part on right

this is what I think your calling the lifter pin
Posted by: dman66
this is the same clutch case where I thought the unknown pin would go, like an oil orfice. Sorry guys I"m really caught up in this. Thank you all for the help.....

I"m going to pic up a used transmission tommorow, hopefully the supplier I'm getting the parts from, will allow me to check for this part, on the engine he is parting out. Two weeks gone by now, and still no parts. Maybe I'll start looking somewhere else.

still have not picked up my transmission, and still scratching my head about this part. I looked all through parts microfiche, but come up empty handed.

I just took apart an extra 250x bottom end, I dont think the clutch side was messed with before I got it. I didnt see the pin you have any where. I seen the clutch liffter pin and it is exactly what you said it was. The only thing I seen that looked like what you have is a little pin next to the kicker hole. I dont really think this is what you have though because I couldnt get the pin out of the side case. It is probly made into the cover when the part was molded. but if your cover dosent have a pin next to the kicker hole and it just has a little hole than that maybe it. other than that maybe it came from the other side of the case. I think there is enough clearance under the strainer screen for something that size to fit.

does it look like the part I'm pointing at in this pic?
Posted by: dman66
sorry bout that, but is the part I"m pointing to look like what your talking about? Like a kiker stop?
Posted by: QuadCobbler
yep, that's it.

Thanks buddy!!!!!! Now I'll feel better putting this engine back together. I'll need to "JB" this area due to casting broke, then I guess I'll epoxy the pin back in. Thank a million for hanging in ther with my problem

So I take it that was where the pin went?
Posted by: dman66
Iwould say yes due to the case in that area broke out, which more than likely allowed the pin to fall out. when I put the pin in that case hole, it is kinda tight.I beleive the kick starter spindle assembly has a ratchet, which makes contact with this round part of the pin we"re talking about. The ratchet part has a raised and lowered cam type area on it.
