2005 artic cat 400 4x4 ?

just bought a 2005 400 4x4 a month ago...after running for a bit motor gets hot .. the oil fan does not come on.. were do i need to look for the switch? it die on me the other day . i didnot hear the fan come on. after i got home it started back up.. what would cause this? thanks brian
